Hello Brandon and Dana, greetings from the Greater Sacramento Area of California. Pretty good video and important information for us folks considering moving to Texas with the pros and cons of living in the Lone Star State. After watching this video, I still have a dream and desire to move to Texas one day and pray everyday that it will be God's will and fruition for the finances to make it possible. Take care folks and God's blessings to you both and the Pollard Family. 🙂👍🙏

Great video! Question - You said Texas works mainly off PPO for healthcare and needs a referral. From an experienced licensed CA health insurance agent, did you mean HMOs? PPO's are great because you DON'T need a referral from your PCP to see a specialist...
@movingtotexas3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Oh yes that’s correct. I messed that up! You can chose either plan but PPO is definitely more costly. I’ve heard CA has like an all in one stop shop(not sure if that’s accurate or for certain plans) We have specialists all in different locations.
@Nessal832 жыл бұрын
@@movingtotexas CA has HMO like Kaiser that is a one-stop-shop like you mentioned. Everyone has different opinions on how good they are. Imo, if you don't have any major complications or conditions, then they are fine. Anything else...you're better with PPO.

1:36 Okay, first time watching this channel and a minute-thirty-six in I hear we are "creating expressways" in Texas. I've been in Texas since 1970 and for as long as I've lived here there have been expressways or highways, both words have always been used interchangeably by everyone I've ever known in Texas. From Naches to El Paso, from Wichita Falls to Port Aransas, Texas has had highways and we've called them highways and expressways interchangeably. Toll Roads are a different story, and we call toll roads "toll roads". Houston and Dallas have had them for some time, Austin started building them about 15 years ago, San Antonio as far as I know is still free of the darned things and fights TXDOT viciously every time they've suggested it. In any case, calling a toll road an expressway isn't something Texans normally do except maybe in some local dialects or where there is an above-average population of transplanted New Englanders (Snow Birds). Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying it's not right to call 'em expressways. It most probably is, but we Texans are just ornery that way.

On one end of my street there is a church (about 300 people) and at the other end after you turn the corner, there's another church as well (maybe 50 people). I go to a different church. I've lived in Texas about 35 years and only been affected by a tornado once, and that was 2-3 years ago. Everyone on our street ended up getting new roofs; a few of us lost trees. Hail has been a big problem, though, especially if you don't have a garage. I'm looking forward to your next video. :)

some family moved to austin area last year. I visited, WAY TOO MANY PLANNED COMMUNITIES. The homes sit on top of each other they are so close. The traffic is insane. The trees dont get very tall. I'm from east coast, maryland, Much greener here, not as flat. Wasnt too impressed with Texas. Visit first before deciding. If you grew up there, you are used to it and more than likely like where you live. Much the same with me in Maryland.

@movingtotexas2 ай бұрын
It just hasn't taken as fast here as in CA. It actually makes it harder to sell a home when you have solar.
@sharonwittmayer12212 ай бұрын
@@movingtotexas thank you. That’s so interesting. You must have fairly decent gas and electric bills because here in Southern California, there would be absolutely no way for the average person to be able to afford to air condition and heat their home without it. And when a home has solar, it sells much better and faster.

My main cons is the lack of mountains/wilderness and wild trout fishing. The people is a mix. In the country they're nice,in the city it's a mixed bag. I had a roommate (native texan)and she was a bitch from hell and a tweeker so the people aspect for me is hit n miss. Love the low cost of living and that it's republican and people don't let government push em around. East texas is green,south Texas has the hill country, north Texas is the most boring shit you'll ever drive through. West Texas is rugged desert. Being spoiled with the Sierra Nevada mountains at my fingertips most of my life,texas scenery ain't shit but it's cheap and republican

@@movingtotexas but your state should accept every American for being just that. It’s a melting pot country unearthed from the hands of many Native American ancestors and immigrants who could (and should) voe however the hell they’d like . It always makes me giddy hearing Conservatives complain about cancel culture or their rights being trampled on while micromanaging the voting rights of others or how they want to live their lives. I can move wherever I’d like and vote however I chose.

@movingtotexas3 жыл бұрын
Texas is as chilled as possible considering the federal mandates. Depending on which city you travel to will depend on how strict masks are. In Fort Worth and the suburbs of DFW is more chill. Dallas, Austin, and Houston city proper are much more strict. Although masks are not required for shopping and such anywhere here.
