Guys with low-spec GPUs, hear this: If you try to use Lossless Upscaling on resolutions lower than 720p, it will still look pretty shitty because the algorithm doesn't have much to go on. The most you can hope for is somewhat a cell-shaded feel with more sharpness around object edges, but that's about it.

If you used the game's internal scaler and then in GPU setting activated a bit of extra image sharpening for the game it will probably be a very close run. That's how I game. Depending on what game, I run in 1440p or 1800p/the corresponding resolution scale for games with the option, and then use extra image sharpening to offset the blurriness. I tried this FSR implementation and at first I couldn't tell a difference. I thought maybe there were less stair stepping effects going on but I just couldn't say for sure. And I thought I had the sharpness at max. It was sitting at 2. Then I saw one of these videos and I realized aha! It's 0 that I'm looking for. AND WOW! Now I can really see a difference. Personally I think with the sharpness at 0 it looks crisper than regular 4K at 1440p. That's huge for me! And at 1080p with the sharpness up that far it looks a bit better than regular 1440p. That means I can play at 1080p now and it won't look that bad to me anymore. That means I can probably hold off on upgrading for another generation if I want to. Now some people might think 0 is too sharp. I really love it at 0 though. I'm going to make a video on this showing side by side comparisons and zoomed in screenshots. With the sharpness up you can see details you couldn't see before at lower resolutions. Also I have an Nvidia card. So I'm going to show off Cyberpunk 2077 running with DLSS and FSR at once. I know some people are interested in that.

No, it really doesn't look a bit better at 1080p with FSR and sharpness maxed out than regular 1440p. At 1080p with sharpness maxed out the details gets pixelated as they are too sharp. It's not so clear anymore.

I’m not saying test for me, but test for yourself supersampling. For example (1.2) of 1440p. It’s only 20% better resolution of 1440p but you might find that this enhancing is also simple and reaps quality gains easily. What your noticing could be caught with like 200-300% zoom. It’s like there’s not much difference but there is. This approach of saying resolution scale of 85% of 4K isn’t a bad one, but another possible example would 1440p no dlss/fsr vs say 4K with say degraded visuals. I just got a Nitro+ 6900XT and i still have a RTX 3090. The 85% resolution scale, SAPPHIRE has their own tool that will do this on any game. After looking into it I really loved the 85% of the 1440p. Especially for competitive. Because between 1080p and 1440p they both still look great, so lots of people want the performance that’s found here. It’s a great boost considering you’d get one card over another card for that 1 tier boost of 5-10FPS.

I'm trying to answer some questions of yours but they seem to get caught in the spam filter, odd. But you can disable the sharpness by putting the value at 2 if you want to see if that's all FSR does is add sharpening. It preserves edge detail so FSR will always have better aliasing than a non-FSRed image but besides that, not much else is different
@danielowentech3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I could tell the edge detail is better. That's what I was trying to express when I said that even though fsr was scaling from a lower resolution it didn't look as obviously upscaled as the internal scaler in the game which left more obvious aliasing.

Does not have to be more overhead it can just be the windowed mode that is worse. windowed mode has always given worse fps.
