This series is just incredibly beautiful. I have never seen a teen series of such a quality. I was never interested in ballet or anything, neither is English my mother tongue and yet I got addicted to watching this. The development of the characters, the deep thoughts about what's important in life, the mixture of joke and tragedy, and how the story turned from a light funny teenage story into that unpredictable kind of drama we have in the end of season 2. Everybody would have expected the typical plot: there is the big competition and after a lot of struggle and rivalism and stuff like that we see one of the kids winning and have a glamourous happy end. But no. In the last episodes we have a funeral, a lot of tears, the main character dancing and crying on stage as a tribute to her friend, and a wonderful group of friends who find their own way to grieve and to honor his memorial in private and in public. And all of that doesn't happen in an overdone sentimental way but seems so realisitic, personal and really touching. A similar moment is the end of season 3. The end is never predictable, but after looking back, it's the most beautiful consequence to finish that story full of heartbreaking and extremly funny moments side by side. I have watched every episode so many times that I know most of the dialogues by heart, and still I take something new from it every time I watch it. I have the biggest respect for the actors, the writer and all the rest of the crew, they all did an amazing job. The story has accompanied me in different episodes of my personal life. And it will always influence me. Thank you Dance academy, and thank you Sam Strauss for inventing that outstanding story. I cried so much when they said Sammy had died and they replayed somebof the memories. I cried so much. I never cry over tv Shows and now I did. This shows that Dance acdemy is a show that I can relate to and enjoy both sad and happy moments. Ive always wanted to become a ballerina, but I once gave up on that dream. Seeing this show made me rethink If I actually wanted to do ballet. Now I am looking for ballet classes and pointe shoes to begin my career. I will forever remember Sammy. RIP, Sammy Lieberman

I think Christian walked away at the end of the group dance because he saw how happy Tara was with Ben and thought he should get out of her way (even though he loves her) so she could be happy and joyful and not dark and twisty with Ben. He doesn't think he's good for her and I think he's thinking about Sammy not giving him his blessing to tell Tara he loves her. I think he was pondering that while staring at Sammy's empty bed (so sad btw).

I don't know if it was intentional, but the sound of the train at 2:40 has the same rhythmic pattern of the Red shoes' music bit that appears on the beginning of the episode and it happens wright before Tara starts changing her mind about dancing in the competition. ... some stuff that happens on this show are of a high level sophistication of story telling no one expects in a teen tv series... don't know if its accidental or not, don't know if everyone notices it. She knew that Tara had no chance of winning after completing her own performance. But what Tara showed her was that she did not really care in the end. That winning was meaningless to her. Because Tara does not dance for anyone but herself, because she truly loves to be a dancer. The other female characters have complicated reasons why they dance, most of them have to do with outside expectations and their moms and so on. Tara chose ballet for herself. And I think at that moment Grace realizes that Tara has found meaning in dancing, which is the one thing Grace lacks. She can win the Prix, be the best ballet student in the world, a perfect ballerina - but dancing will never mean anything to her and therefore there is no point in winning for her either...

The first time I watched this episode, I was in the back of my parent's car when we were driving home. I had to hold my tears back, because Tara's solo and Ben's memorial made me very emotional. After we came back home, I rewatched it and BAWLED my eyes out for 10 minutes straight. Tara's solo is my favourite dance in the whole series. It shows the whole journey she went through the season. The face she has when she gets on the stage - it shows deep sadness, but also anger and feeling lost, like a big piece of her life just vanished... Ben's tribute was beautiful, when I hear Sammy's words at the beginning tears always come out of my eyes. I don't think any TV show has made me cry so much like Dance Academy. Sammy was a brilliant character and a role model, doing what he loved and fighting for it even if everybody was against it. I'm glad he could make peace with his father before he passed.
