Fun fact: Lachica choreographs about 90% of Chungha’s songs and the group themselves was formed after they choreographed Chungha’s song “Chica” hence the name “LaChica”, they like to call Chungha their honorary member.

That is such a fun fact! I appreciate the loyalty they have with each other over the years! Such a joy!

No no no, La Chica was already formed before Chunga's debut, in fact Chunga herself was part of the dance group, only she left to be an Idol, and they choreographed Chunga's debut song, which was "Chica", as they told them. It seemed nice that she kept looking for them even though she was already famous, they finally named the group and in honor of Chunga it was LaChica. After SWF Chunga in the final song she mentions them again in her song 💖

I think remember people saying that Chungha's dance partner in the 2nd chorus (and near the end too) actually has a hearing impairment and counts all the beats in his head which is super crazy and cool

Every video you really show yourself to be an academic for dance, which I think is cool. I remember especially thinking this when you reacted to a video on Taemin by Facts in Fiction, explaining where it would be apt to use boogaloo versus popping. It reminded me that semantics and cultural history can be fun, and that they hold a lot of value, too.

Glad you enjoyed this song! I always felt it was sort of a carnival/celebration/spectacle of dance sort of vibe. A lot of the smaller things with "this persons not doing their style and they're a bit off" gets resolved for me by both showcasing their own strengths but also the sort of sheer joy the track and the performers get across. I think some of the stuff you were commenting on with style variants and such for the ballroom would have been an improvement, though I wonder if this was sort of a compromise with real world time constraints involved with learning/properly implementing even more things in. One thing I noticed was that a couple of the taller guys had to do some impressive uh, contortions to get their levels lined up. Like early on the blue hat guy had to be on one knee to make the formation work while everyone else was standing lol. Or near the end he was crossing the front of the formation and had to stay below waist level and had to do this really long stretch-slide thing that looked really tricky.

I definitely enjoyed this one! I was honestly so impressed at how well they did despite the candid ness of the Vlive and it was a JOY to see so many styles represented! And I know that the real world causes so many compromises and adjustments that need to be made for the turn around time, but it still turned out great!

@ 29:20 you asked what style, and it's Samba. The guy dancing with her is "Hongin" and he is a known korean male dancer specialized in Samba. @ 34:22 you said they should be more clear on what style they're bringing, so this is very much a representation of Samba.

you seem a bit full of yourself, what famous artists have you choreographed? try complimenting the artist more, or it kind of "lowers down the quality" or your reaction as you are quick to say
@celestewickware32837 ай бұрын
I don’t mean this in an ugly way but what expertise do you have to make this opinion yourself? We are all just living our best lives. And there are reaction channels that exist where the person doesn’t have any personal knowledge of the subject other than just liking the content. It’s awesome that she has the expertise that she does! Coming from a dance teacher who has a good amount of insight into the dance world, she knows an extensive amount on the subject and she has never claimed to know everything! That’s the definition of humble. Confidence in presentation does not equal being full of yourself. I think just prepare your heart for critiques when you click on a reaction video! You got this!
@jess_holyfield7 ай бұрын
Hey there. Firstly I wanted to thank you for taking time to comment! My apologies if my perspective is one that came across as I’m full of myself. I try to always be a learner and I’m particularly passionate about dance in a choreographic context, so when I look at choreography that showcases styles that I find joy in appreciating and analyzing, I try to be as objective as possible for the integrity of the craft. I can always do a better job of finding a middle ground with giving flowers where flowers are due and I hope to be able to continue growing within that not only in the future, but hopefully with grace extended to me in that process. If there was a specific part of any of my analysis that rubbed you the wrong way, I would love to know so I can figure out a better solution in articulating those types of points in the future!

@@jess_holyfield thanks for your willingness to hear me. i just feel you need to balance what you say by pointing out what you like and not just what you find not to your liking or taste. most folks will be watching you because they are fans of Chungha as a dancer and performer, and clearly she has an incredible worldwide fanbase so there are things she is doing really well. your criticisms would feel more substantial if you are capable of acknowledging that Kim Chungha is the straw that stirs the drink here, including your reaction. Again what have you choreographed that is as well received as the things Chungha has? Rian of La Chica gets credit but Chungha is equally involved in the choreo planning -- watch the "making of" videos of some of her big hits and you will see the interactions. Chungha btw got her big break due in large part to her phenomenal choreographing of the song "Bang Bang" for the girl group she was in, and then deferrring credit for it to the group until they all pointed out that it was Chungha who deserved most of the credit. thanks for listening

I understand your perspective and I appreciate it. I am someone with a background of judging mega crew choreography and choreography from a Hip Hop international rules and regulations viewpoint. I'm used to looking for staging, spacing, performance quality, and style justification. I truly feel my feedback was appropriate based on my scope I have shown in over 500+ analysis including 3 other Chungha clips. My first work I observed her in was "Stay Tonight" and I would love it if you took a look there to better see my personal starting point with her, but I can agree that I should always be mindful that any one of my videos can be someone's first video. I can also agree that people will come to watch these videos with Chungha at the forefront, and like I've said, I have already started being more mindful in my presentation of feedback with her newest release of "I'm Ready" which I would also appreciate you taking a look at to see if my feedback was improved with her more of a focus. I have seen Rian choreography specifically all throughout her time with SWF, SDGF1, her personal movement quality with her time as a dancer for Taemin + independently and with Lachica. I am actively an educator and choreographer in the industry as I have vocalized in every analysis video including this one, and the skill set needed to articulate the things I reference come from an adjudicator/analyst standpoint which is not the same skill set in overlap to strictly choreographing for a particular niche of artists. I respectfully believe I have not overstepped my scope and I am constantly learning and growing like I've mentioned. I also know your intention is mostly encompassing having me be more mindful of the balance between critiques and positivity within each routine and I can definitely continue to work within that! Looking forward to hearing back. @@melmel075

@@jess_holyfield thanks for taking time to discuss. i see what you are saying and i guess i was just wanting you to be more mindful of your audience. Chungha's releases instantly get millions of views because she is a megastar and just a little acknowledgement of her talent would be appreciated by a majority of us who watch reaction videos to her. Here is a dancer reacting to Chungha's Stay Tonight Dance Practice video, he is maybe the exact opposite in terms of his approach to discussing the video in that he heaps on a lot of praise , but then he is a dancer and i realize now you are more of a judge of choreo. still, would appreciate you watching this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWGyqn54npamqNEsi=ctXu8GYtfzOJPcbi&t=102
