They basically make a full movie/story in their music. You go thru all of the 5 stages of a story! Exposition: Setting the scene. Rising action: Building the tension. Climax: The exciting bit. Falling action: Tidying up loose ends. Resolution: Ending the story. I cry when I get to that falling action of this song… cuz it’s so beautiful and resonant.

they usually do a musical rollercoaster with the final song on the albumn, for all their albumns. that musical uniqueness that you are hearing, is from Will Swan, the guitarist on the right in the video. he is literally constantly writing music; fans have dubbed is music its own genre, "Swan Core" dont get me wrong, every member of this band is on another level, but Will is the big brain behind the band. im pretty sure there was a little studio magic in this. they recorded a "live albumn" but they also played this show live, im pretty sure they synced up the audio from the live albumn version with this video, i may be wrong though. ive seen them 3 times live though, and they pretty much sound just as good.

The clean vocalist says that part of the reason for the transition music - the melody at the beginning, its something they do live between songs - is because he doesn’t love talking between songs, it gets him out of his groove and makes him anxious. He mentioned that in a recent interview he did with (i wanna say) revolver mag?

Great reaction to a fantastic song. This song deserves more credit for its lyricism than it does. Attacking both sides of having an affair is something that hit me very deep the first time I heard it. Knowing that, this song cuts that much deeper with every listen. Honestly I'm just here for the DGD reactions and I've got to say I enjoy your reactions more than most. This song was the final track off their 2016 album, Mothership. I'd highly recommend Evaporate. It's the final track off their 2018 album, Artificial Selection. It has a breakdown at the end with this medley that references some of their older songs. I know it's a tall order but if you want to appreciate it fully, the songs it references are: Surprise I'm From Cuba Everyone Has One Brain Me And Zoloft Get Along Just Fine And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman Acceptance Speech We Own The Night Tree Village The Backwards Pumpkin Song Alex English

I know you probably get overwhelmed with people suggesting other songs by then, but I couldn't help but notice that you really like Tilian's vocal runs. So with that in mind, I would suggest Deception (great runs on the intro and bridge), Chocolate Jackalope (great runs on outro, and also a small rap verse), and Lyrics Lie (great runs on bridge). Also, Eagle Vs. Crows has the guitarist Will Swan rapping as a major element of the song!

I know this video is a little older (May 2021) but have you checked out Jonny Craig's solo stuff? He used to be the "clean" vocalist in DGD before he had some substance abuse issues and was kicked out. I think you'd really like him; he's got an old soul/R&B vibe to him. Check out "All That I've Become". Love the channel BTW!!

DGD - Blue Dream I just binged all your DGD reacts cuz theyve been my favorite band for about 10 years now. I notice that they are all Tilian era DGD, but the band has had 3 different clean vocalists over their 10+ year time as a band. The song I suggested above is their first vocalist. If Tilian is the pop, their first vocalist, Jonny, is the RnB. Def give the time.

You should also checkout Bilmuri (he features on DGD song “Into the Sunset” which I also highly highly recommend) but his songs kind of utilize some trap beats blended incredibly well with the rock/post hardcore sound. His songs “lifeisgood” “postalmondclarity” and “asurprisetobesurebutawelcomeone” all have some jazzy saxophone elements thrown in that would melt your mind, no doubt. Or, “fluorideinthehardseltzerwater” features Jon Mess (DGD unclean vocals) slaps like a mf

I don't watch a lot of live versions, especially the reactions because it's few and far between when the live performance does a song and the artists justice, and more so when speaking about rock music and the subgenres. They tend to be underwhelming for me to say the least. This specific performance, not a single negative point to be noted as far as I can see. Right out of the gate Tillian was on point. Personally, i could enjoy DGD sans the heavy vocals. Their instrumentals are all they need to blow your mind and then add Tillians vocal range into that mix? The heavy vocals for me are just add an uneeded element. In summary, it's safe to say DGD is severely underrated.

This was actually recorded live on the bridge and is not the same version from the album. Someone else said that they may have done multiple takes on the bridge, I’m not sure about that.
