Lol @ people pointing out bad lyrics as a weak point of the band... Jon Mess has always written incoherent lyrics for tracks because he just fills words in to fit with his unclean vocals... Hence why the only album that has strong lyrical content is Happiness, because he wasnt part of the band. DGD is not a sappy "sing along" band, the vocals serve as their own chaotic instruments.

ryot4ever It's all personal opinion. I always preferred Kurt Travis until I heard Acceptance Speech. I've listened to that CD 2-3 times a week since it's release, dead serious. Something about it engulfs me in this amazing feeling. I have all their old stuff, and they've always been talented, but I'm a human being with a preference and that preference is Tilian.
@kinorobinson38769 жыл бұрын
Tilian's singing style, personally, just matches Jon's lyric structure and vocals a lot better in my opinion. The two together are really flavorful. And yeah, Mike Hunt as soon as Acceptance Speech was out, it was the only thing that pulsed through my headphones for a good few days.

Dance Gavin Dance is a great band because they sound great, but if I was forced at gunpoint to expand upon that, I'd say that they're great because they're never lazy. They always put more work than necessary into a song. Some bands just go "Okay, hook, verse, hook, verse, ship it." but DGD just seem to only put out stuff that they've put an inordinate amount of time into. This song, and many like it they've done, could very well have been three completely different songs instead of one singular and much more captivating song. Like, take "On the Run" for example. Do you really think they unintentionally dropped the rhyme "anyone" despite the "run" and "done" in the first and second verse respectively? No. It's all meticulously planned and it shows. And THAT'S what sets the band apart.

This really harkens back to the self-titled/Death Star album for me, I felt like a lot of the songs on that album, e.g., Caviar, Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine, etc., simultaneously imagined love and break-ups as both literal and figurative wars between the two parties involved. That's the theme with which my perception connects and draws upon while listening to this song.

I love y'all. You really are the most talented band out there. I never will be disappointed with DGD. Never stop making music.

A great intro to the album! Songs like this are the reasons DGD is my favorite band.

There's no cuss words in this song!

I never really liked that they had so many cuss words in their songs. I like that they released two songs off the new album without any. It would be cool if the whole album was similar in that respect.

I don't know why any DGD fan doesn't at least like this song. I was caught jammin to this song upon first viewing, no shame, my friends
