On her KZbin channel, JoJo said she left because she wanted to sign an overall talent deal with Nickelodeon and because the kids’ contracts were not legally processed in California, she could leave. Jess and JoJo knew that and JoJo did say in that episode that they had other stuff going on but they could not say it why they truly wanted to leave. But I will admit JoJo was not a technical dancer, her strength was entertainment. She left at a good time.

Abby was racist and typecasted all of the girls who had different skin colours as if they were going to audition and it is an ethnic call where they were looking for stars/professionals that could do ethnic styles such as African, Hawaiian, Asian, etc. If it was that situation, being able to dance those types would be an advantage. Not that it mattered in season 6 due to the ban on extracurricular activities such as auditions.

Just because Nia is African American doesn't mean she knows the dancers from Africa. She wasn't born there, she is an American so it wasn't part of her upbringing as Holly pointed out. Her training is in contemporary, acro and hip hop, which is an extremely different style to African tribal dances. And she had 3 weeks at a summer camp, along side the other members of the team, so there's no reason why she would be ahead of everyone else. I think the routine was extremely difficulty, very athletic and very different to what they're used to. It's one of the most interesting dances they've done and will always be one of my favourites to rewatch, and that's when you know you've done a good performance.
