On top of the general trauma this show came with…jojo and whomever else judging the OGS, especially Nia is insensitive. They all had different experiences and again, Nia had it the worst.
@jessicajoerndt4286 ай бұрын
Thats not necessarily true. There’s a lot of factors that go into the abuse of the girls, not just their race. Chloe was the most hated by Abby and we can see this plan as day. Chloe was the only girl to get kicked off the team, Abby admitted on the Rosie Odonnel show that she did “whatever she wanted” to the kid to make her upset… she literally brought in other dancers specifically to be Chloe, and then went to the judges when Chloe would win! She screamed for Chloe to get a medical condition fixed. These are not things that Nia went through. At least not in the beginning. Chloe was the girl that Abby hated the most so therefore Abby constantly tried to set her up to fail against her friend and then would rub it in her face. She really manipulated Chloe and she even screamed in Chloe’s face that she would destroy her. And according to the girls, Abi was even worse to her off camera.. Nia actually had a more gentle experience in the very beginning because Abby would use her for the “diverse” roles…Abby was a lot sweeter toward her in beginning. Now after Chloe left the show? That’s when things really got bad for Nia, because Abby’s racism came out full force as Nia stepped into young adulthood and that’s when Nia really became the most hated and abused. The real question is, Chloe‘s abuse got so bad that she literally had to walk out and leave and not come back because she was shaking and crying and completely traumatized. Why wouldn’t Holly take Nia off the show? How come she was teaching her daughter just to sit there and take it? I feel like Nia Compartmentalized all of the racism and abuse that she took and I hope that she is now unpacking it on her own. Some might even say that Maddie had it the worst because out of all of the girls, she was the one that Abby emotionally manipulated more than anyone else. This is just a basic fact. She literally had Maddie in several panic attacks and used her against her friends. These are not things that Nia had to go through. She wasn’t the favorite (used for Abby’s pleasure) and she wasn’t the most hated. She wasn’t the center of Abby‘s attention for love or hate like Maddie and Chloe were. Maddie and Chloe both took the hits from Abby more than anyone those first three or four seasons, so in the beginning, they definitely had it the worst, and Nia kind of slid by unappreciated by Abby although she was still experiencing life as the only Black girl on a dance team. So not trying to dismiss her experience, just stating that Abby factually attacked Chloe and Manipulated Maddie more than any of the other girls. But I do agree that Nia’s abuse was the greatest starting around season 4/5. But again, her mom kept her there and Nia said that she wanted to stay there. So clearly it was something that she thought she could handle at the time. But I hope she’s realizing now that she was heavily abused, and is learning about herself now that she is an adult.

@@jessicajoerndt428 Chloe didn't get kicked off the team, she chose not to join the ALDC team for season 4 but was still on the show (pretty sure the Hylands were the same) due to the contracts that they had with the show, that gave Abby the extra streak of meanness towards them, she was told that she had to let them still be in the studio because of the show contracts. Abby was then if she can't get rid of them then they also can't leave and I can do anything I want to them and they can't do anything about it. When all the stuff happened in the last episode Christi had to get lawyers involved to break their contract and doing the end of season specials was a part of that deal.

And they didn’t just choose to not join, Abby bullied them out of joining the team. She was threatening to make Chloe’s life hell, and by leaving the team that was to try and protect Chloe because that means that she got to spend less time with Abby. She might as well have kicked her off. I feel like beggars can’t be choosers. And why the fuck are we always asking somebody else with some type of higher ranking about who else is doing what. If you’re that invested in someone’s life, you need to look in the mirror. There’s things in your life that you can probably fix.

And now we see the end result of Jess having never taught Jojo boundaries, when to shut the hell up, and what is and isn’t good manners. As far as Kalani, she’s talking out of her ass, but isn’t she really close with Jojo? This sounds like two girls’ conversations that are being expressed as separate (but in agreement) opinions. I’m just a mom who had a then teenage daughter at the time when Dance Moms aired and she followed the show and all of the girls’ social media accounts.

Jojo really needs to close her mouth on a multitude of subjects. Also, this feels like how people attacked the Olsen Twins for not wanting to do Fuller House, when they were worked to the bone as children and wanted to stay away from acting. The other cast also "shaded" them for not wanting to be grateful for getting them where they are today. The bottom line is, M, M and N's choice for not wanting to come, and no one has a right to question it. "No" is a complete sentence.

I’m so proud of Maddie and McKenzie for standing up for themselves. They’ve made it clear that they’ve had horrible experiences with the show and Abby. Putting themselves back into that situation isn’t going to do anything for them, if anything it might hurt them. Also, I need JoJo to take many seats. Just because you had a positive experience doesn’t mean that others did as well. Also, realize that this is just producers using you for more money. You gave them years of your life, and they made a ton of money off of it. You don’t owe them anything.

'the reunion as a way to say thank you' - for what? thank you for giving young kids a career by abusing them? sounds logical thank you Kalani A group of adults engaging with kids like they did on that show (screamingn, shaming and pushing adult work schedules) invite you years later to say thank you for what they put you through... that doesn't sound a little backwards or even brainwashy to you?

the nerve....Are we really surprised Nia of all people didn't show up? I mean why should she, she had it bad if not the worst..she is so strong and doesn't get enough credit for having danced with Abby longer than every single one of those girls. (Season 1-7) Go Nia and I'm very happy to see her having fun in college with her sorority. Even Maddie and Kenzie their decision makes sense too. Kira, Kalani, Kendall, and JoJo have a FEW seats
@jessicajoerndt4286 ай бұрын
Yeah, Maddie was so emotionally manipulated by Abby that she said she’s been in therapy for like the past 10 years to undo it. Abby was literally living through Maddie. And as far as hate goes, Abby attacked Chloe more than any other girl seasons 1-4, admitted it on live television, and emotionally manipulated Maddi more than any other girl. Nia‘s abuse got bad after Chloe left because she became Abi‘s next target, so Abi‘s racism came flying through and I’m honestly shocked that Holly kept her daughter there. Like Christi and Kelly their girls were literally shaking and having panic attacks every day so their moms had no choice but to break their contracts. Nia was so strong but she shouldn’t have had to be? I wish her mom would’ve taught her not to put up with the abuse. According to Holly, Nia wanted to be there. But I’m sure that she’s learning about herself and her experience now that she’s an adult! I don’t blame them for not going and I’m disappointed that Christi keeps pushing Chloe to use the show for clout. I can relate to Chloe though, because Abby was trying so hard to make her fail that I think she just likes to have her chance to speak now which I understand. But in general, I wish that the show would be shut down because these kids were so heavily abused.

@@amandamandamands seeing how Nia stayed on the show at her own will all of those years tells me that she probably would’ve gone. Bullying people to perform gratitude for you is what abusers do, not altruistic people. That’s how you can tell a “you owe me” is fake, nobody actually trying to help you is going to demand you put yourself in harms way for the sake of some stupid content. I hope Jojo escapes the cycle of abuse she keeps reproducing with others, it’s really sad. That’s learned.

Abby hated Chloe more than anyone and she had possibly the most traumatic time on the show considering the extreme lengths that Abby went to harm her, her reputation, and her self esteem on and off the show… screamed at her to get her medical condition fixed, admitted on live television to the whole world that she did anything she could to make her life miserable, including kicking her off the team in season three and isolating her from the other girls…. So…WHY ARE HER AND CHRISTI STILL PRAISING IT!? This show is damaging for all of these girls, and it should be off the air. I really wish that Chloe would stop taking part in these events and move on with her career.

I absolutely understand why Nia passed, and to be honest? I understand why Maddie & Mackenzie passed too. There’s still a lot of tension and bitterness towards those two. But the fact that Paige, of all people, showed up is what I’m shocked by.
