Nathan, you are such a good dance teacher, one of the few online who builds up the choreography gradually so that at the end we can do the dance properly! A real pleasure in these lockdown times when I can't go to my usual dance classes.

Good job! I liked the dance routine. And the one thing I noticed you did was point out how to move to the beat. That was one of my biggest tasks in my day was trying to "teach boards how to bend" is what I called it. So, to do it easier, I would take a few minutes to simply teach them how to just tap out the beat. Every beat was a stop and every rhythm was a move... And if I was successful at doing that, then we moved on to full routines. I don't know about you, but the hardest ones to teach how to dance were women. Men seemed to catch on much faster and easier for some reason. Women seemed scared to move.
@MovewithColour4 жыл бұрын
There’s a lot to be said about the social influence of rhythm and timing too. For example, whether a whole group of people are asked to stomp out a rhythm or whether it’s just an individual person. How we move to music is intuitively affected by those around us. I’ve observed a stronger unity in movement between males of all ages when the move is simple to execute. I’ve always believed that there was a war-like or tribal influence between them that isn’t as strong with females. Again, a curious anthropological case there 🤓
@PaulJGorzkowski4 жыл бұрын
@@MovewithColour You should know better than me. The biggest group I ever taught at one time was probably about five people. I don't know how these mobs do it and make it look flawless... You're teaching a good amount at one time as well. Does it feel at times like it's overwhelming and more difficult with the larger groups than it does with one or two people? But, I guess you just let me know that my theory was true in a way.... I have spent as much as two full days teaching women and one day with men. The guys just seemed to pick it up quicker and with more movement and rhythm in their body as well. Women were more of the "boards."
