The argument they were having before they went onstage was interesting. The girls wanted to count out the routine and Laurieanne didn’t, she called them formulaic. Laurieann is used to working with pro adults who’ve long outgrown needing to go “5,6,7,8” when they learn choreography. If you watch real serious industry dancers work, they feel the counts in the music more since they’re older and have more experience. It just comes with age, and the whole room operates under that assumption while they’re learning. When Kendall goes “what count do we do after the ding...” Laurieann gets frustrated because adults would have picked that up already and not be stressing counts before going onstage. Laurieann probably thought that because Dance Moms is a TV show, she would be working with TV dancers with an LA pro mindset, even as kids.

I think Laurieanne was trying to give them that opportunity to transition into that. Abby probably teaches in a way that's very "A-->B-->C" because they're kids and Laurieanne is more like "hop into it and because you're a great dancer, you know what you're doing"

I feel like this dance is SO underrated, it's really neat! Additionally, I'm not the biggest Maesi fan, but she did a really great job with the lead in this number! It's really too bad it only got third, I feel like it deserved higher than that. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a big fan of modernesque contemporary, but I think it's a really cool number, and I feel like Laurieann's concepts as a whole didn't score as well as they should have.
