Hi all, for this video I'm trying something different by using the Action Timeline plugin, and adding more notes regarding the rotation. If y'all feel that the video is too crowded, do let me know and I'll change them in the next video. I also enlarged certain UI elements since I've gotten feedback from friends that they were a bit too small. Hope these changes help! Regarding the rotation, yes it seems we're supposed to hold 0.5s waiting for Technical Step to come up. From the guide, "The remainder to get to 120 seconds total is 93 seconds (120 - 27 = 93 seconds). Because this amount of time is not divisible evenly by our base GCD of 2.50, we can either perform 37 weaponskills at 2.50 second recast per weaponskill and then hold our GCD for 0.5 seconds to use Technical Step right as it comes off cooldown, or we can perform 38 weaponskills and do Technical Step 2 seconds later (122 second rotation). If you have some skillspeed on your gear that lowers your weaponskill GCD recast, you may be able to lower the 122 second rotation loop closer to 120 seconds by doing the “drift” Standard Step rotation."

I could never tell if I should use flourish on CD or hold it since it didn’t always line up perfectly with Tech Step. This video was perfect. Thank you!

Glad I could help! As a general rule of thumb, use your actions immediately off cooldown! If they’re not lining up, either your opener didn’t set things up properly, or you drifted somewhere. Good luck!

How many dps did you do in this rotation? I have a problem in boss fights. When i try it at the doll kn the House i reach 16k dps. In boss Fights 9k. Rotation is the same

I don’t actively parse and pay attention to my DPS in dungeons, and in this video I took off a number of pieces just to reach the proper skillspeed. I recommend plugging your log into xivanalysis instead, though I feel that dungeons aren’t good metrics of how well you’re playing since your resources are all over the place. Also, raw DPS numbers are not really a good comparison either. I could have the raid weapon and do more damage than you even if I don’t do my rotation properly. Don’t worry too much about it!

I had a one shot pull on m4s and everything was going perfect with triple potting yet it's still grey I really don't get the parsing and good thing that I don't care about it that much since im a high ping player too

Unless you are already BIS and your Dance Partner is BIS (or y’all are near BIS), I wouldn’t too much about parsing. Parsing is a measure of your damage contribution, but gear plays the biggest part of your damage. You can do the most optimal rotation, but if someone else has better gear, they can play like a monkey and still out damage you. For dancer, your parse is even more dependent on your dance partner. My friend used to play dancer in previous tiers and he consistently got purple parses without any gear because their dance partner had max ilvl in week 1 (funnel strat). So don’t worry too much about it. Instead, plug your logs into xivanalysis and see how you can improve instead.

Wouldn't it be better to prioritize saber dance at all times, not just if your esprit is above 80? Especially in 8 man content, it is possible to get 50 or more esprit within the span of a single GCD. If you only prioritize it with 80 esprit, the chances to overcap are very high, and that isn't even factoring in Tillana, which you didn't mention at all and imo should be priroitized before fountainfall and reverse cascade. In addition, there is no downside on delaying starfall dance, so there is no point in using starfall dance over saber dance if esprit is between 50 and 80.

That priority list is only relevant in the opener after Finishing Move, which by then you would have already used Tilana and Dance of the Dawn. Anyway, I'm just relaying the information from the balance guide, I just follow what they wrote since they're the ones who actually spend hours theorycrafting. You can see if there's any explanation for why they chose to only use Saber Dance at 80 esprit. I personally just off my brain and use when it's over 50 gauge instead of thinking so much lol.

Sorry, it’s not that I don’t want to, but I won’t be levelling my healers any time soon, maybe 4th week savage at the earliest :( But from my understanding the healer rotations are rather simple, is there anything in particular you need help with?

Is 2.50s gcd the prefered metric now or is 2.47s GCD still the king for Dancer ?

My understanding is that 2.50s GCD is king now since you don’t want to drift Standard Step. Any faster and you have to start holding that .03s to use standard.

@@omupenguin Noted, thank you. I've also checked the doc explaining that 2.48 is another way to go at it. I'll try both to see which is more comfortable for me. On another note, is there a possibility you will do other jobs or only focus on ranged as of now ?

is devilment supposed to come 10sec into opener? doesnt every class use 2min buffs at the start? does this matter in extremes and normal content?

It’s not 10s into the fight, more like 6.5s into the fight. You want to use right after Technical Finish so that your raid buffs are aligned (buffs together strong). The reason we don’t use it straightaway is because other classes (especially dancer) needs prep time before they can do their big damage abilities. No class is using their road buffs at the start, earliest 2GCDs into the fight. This matters in extreme content as there’s DPS checks, so you want to maximise your damage and kill the boss before it enrages. It matters less in normal content since there’s no enrage, but doing your rotation properly will speed up your dungeon/boss times.

@@omupenguin I feel like this is 2.49 gcd (skill speed more than 420) instead.. i tried using 420 skill speed which is 2.5gcd but i dont need to hold technical step at all but i need to hold for finishing move instead. Then i tried 500 skill speed and then i can replicate the holding of technical step

Hmm I’m not sure if it having any amount of skillspeed will affect your GCD at all, the displayed GCD could be rounded up for example. I had 0 skill speed iirc, maybe you can try that first? If it’s latency issues, try doing single weaves through your rotation (thought that might be a bit tough as dancer). Otherwise, if you’re on pc, you can try using third party tools like xivalexander or noclippy. I’m using xivalexander otherwise I can’t do weaves properly.

Seems pretty simple compared to Machinist which despite how fun it is has way more busy work compared to the 90 rotation and burst. Not to mention I can actually do well on Dancer on my UK-NA ping 😂

It’s a different kind of simplicity. Those who prefer static rotations and don’t really want to think much will prefer MCH. DNC seems simple here, but because I’m not in a full party, my esprit generation is pretty low. Once you have proper esprit management, there’s a lot of decisions that you have to make during the burst windows which can be very hectic. But fun!

This video doesn't list the oGCDs explicitly, which makes it look simpler than it is. The burst phase can be rather frantic with tons of double waving, depending on the 50% chance procs. The fact that those procs mean you can't entirely rely on muscle memory but HAVE to look at your hotbar at times can make things more complicated, especially since bosses tend to have their most complicated mechanics every 2 minutes, aka during the burst phase.
