FINALLY I'm getting around to doing a reaction for Taemin - Move. After I posted my reactions for Criminal, Black Rose and Idea, I knew this would be the next one! I'm looking at both the music video and dance practice in this one.
I know there's 3 MV's overall, let me know if you want to see the other ones as well or should I do "Want" next? I hope you enjoy :)

The woman dancing with Taemin is Sugawara Koharu. She is the choreographer for this song and many other Taemin's songs like Sayonara Hitori, Flame of Love, Want and also SHINee's Good Evening. SHINee is Taemin original group btw, you can check them out if you want! Also I recommend you to check Taemin's Drip Drop and Famous if you want to be more familiar of his performance as a dancer

The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. (And if you ever saw Taemin dressed like a girl, you would see why. He really could pass as a girl, especially when he was younger.) Which ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career as a 24 year old (He is 27 now) he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender. Taemin is one of the most popular solo artists, as well as the youngest member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014 and "Move" is his title track on his 2nd Korean solo album which was released in 2017. Fun fact: The blue color you see throughout this MV is supposed to represent the cool, chill vibe of this song, but you also should know that pearl aqua blue/green is SHINee's fan color, so you will see aqua/blue/green shades with most everything to do with SHINee as a way to represent their connection as a group and their connection to their fans, etc. "Move" features all female dancers because the whole point of the song and dance is supposed to be about crossing gender boundaries and how just because you are male doesn't mean your dance has to be hyper masculine. Taemin uses what is traditionally considered more feminine dance moves to show how you can merge both feminine and masculine styles together to create something that can't be singled out as one gender or the other. This dance allowed a more mainstream audience to start to embrace less traditional gender roles within Kpop. "Move" is one of Taemin's most famous choreographies and it has become the dance he is most recognized for.This dance has inspired what is known as the "Move disease," and it is said that the dance is so catchy that you can't help but try to imitate it. There are literally hundreds of videos online of people attempting cover dances to this song. (It is on the level of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance and some of the most famous TiK Tok dance challenges.) But no matter how good of a dancer they are, it is quickly apparent that there is just something about the way Taemin moves that can't be duplicated. Taemin is Taemin and there is no one else like him. The dance is never as sharp or precise as the way Taemin does it. That is why he is hands down considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the industry. As Taemin has said numerous times in interviews and on variety shows, the key point in "Move's" choreography is literally supposed to be to stare into the camera like you are trying to seduce the person who is watching. So, you are right, that is exactly what Taemin is doing. The female dancer who is dancing with Taemin in the MV is a famous choreographer. She is the one that choreographed "Move". Her name is Sugawara Koharu and she is a Japanese choreographer who has choreographed dances for several Kpop groups, as well as American artists. She has worked with Taemin a lot over the years and she is the one that also choreographed Taemin's dance for his songs "Want," "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori" and helped choreograph Taemin and her performance on the competition program Hit the Stage -- "Devil" performance, etc., and she was one of 3 or 4 choreographers who helped choreograph "Criminal." Taemin and Sugawara are really good friends. She was also the choreographer for SHINee's song "Good Evening," among others. She loves working with Taemin because they are a lot alike, and that is one of the reasons why she has been featured in several of Taemin's projects. Plus, Taemin and all the members of SHINee, are also one of the most famous artists in Japan and they all speak fluent Japanese, so they have no problem communicating through dance or language. :D Taemin has worked hard to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. The thing that he hates the most is when people assume he has had it easy because he is part of a big and powerful company and he is so naturally talented. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two dancers in the industry, he was made a member of SuperM. (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend since they were trainees, who is also under SM Entertainment, as well as a member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends. And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole. There is literally no one considered better than them. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Move," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With more than 12 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Now after 12 years Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him. The funny thing is, although Taemin is ultra confident when on stage, when not performing his personality is the complete opposite. That's what makes him even more lovable and why he is so popular. When on stage, Taemin can turn his sexy, sensual side up to 3,000 and he becomes the most powerful and magnificent performer that commands the stage. But the minute he step off the stage he becomes quiet and shy and he blushes when people compliment him for his looks or performance. When not on stage, Taemin is known for being sort of innocent and kind of naive and a little ditsy, as only the maknae (youngest member) of a group can get away with -- he is 2 to 4 years younger than the rest of the SHINee members and he plays up being the baby when he is around them, and they pretty much will do anything he asks. He knows how to be cute when he wants something, but he hates it when someone asks him to be cute. LOL. SHINee are a 5 member group that is known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography the whole time. SHINee is the group that really set the standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups work to reach.

BTS's Jimin, one of Taemin's good friends, is the other 'best' dancer - Kai is good, yes, but he isn't as good in uniqueness, technicality, or breadth of skill and genres, or charisma, as Jimin. That uniqueness? Much like Taemin's, Jimin has a "Jiminie" flavor to his dance, his movements, no other person can quite imitate, no matter what they do. One of the "flavor notes" of the uniqueness of both Taemin and Jimin has to do, I've realized, in their follow through. I figured it out watching videos of Jimin doing martial arts, goofing off, and dancing - like when doing a punch: He *always* does it with completely committed follow through, as in, if he were punching a board, the strike planned has a "goal" well beyond the target, so the target is hit with utter commitment, and over 100% precision and force. Both of them commit themselves to crank each and every single movement, each note sung, to the absolute fullest, each and every time. No wonder they're friends - they approach every endeavor to their utmost limit, every time. THEY are the best humans can be, with that commitment, that determination, under ideal circumstances. It it any wonder the world loves them?

@@ggad1899 That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. And I agree that Jimin is a very good dancer and performer. However, there is no disputing that Taemin and Kai are considered the top two dancers in the industry. And that's not just a fan's opinion, but it was a title given to them by their peers. There was a survey done a few years ago where a bunch of fellow idols were asked to take a blind poll and one of the questions was, "Who do you think is the best dancer and performer in the industry?" and hands down the ones with the most votes were Taemin and Kai. Now I am not arguing that Jimin also is toptear, but what I said is based on the opinion of the industry, not just fans. And yes, Taemin, Kai and Jimin are most definitely really good friends. They are all part of a group of Idol friends, called "The Padding crew" -- which is named after the puffy winter jackets that they all wear as a sort of group uniform :D. The padding crew consists of: Taemin from SHINee, Kai from EXO, Timoteo from HotShot, Ravi from VIXX, Jimin from BTS, Ha Sungwoon from Wanna One and non-celebrity friend from school Jung Kwonho who Taemin and Kai have known since they were kids. There is no rivalry there. SHINee is a group that BTS looks up to for all that they have done for the Kpop industry, and if it wasn't for SHINee paving the way with their synchronized dancing and amazing live vocals, groups like BTS wouldn't even exist. Without groups like SHINee who upped the standard on what to expect when it comes to live performances, the Kpop industry would probably look much different today. And in turn, Taemin and SHINee have a mutual respect for the advancements that BTS have created for the industry as well. Yes, Jimin is part of Kpop's top dancers, but you shouldn't discredit anyone else either. Kai has trained as a dancer since he was a child and he has his own set of amazing skills. Everyone's skills are equally amazing and different because they have all had different life experiences. Taemin, Kai and Jimin should be considered all on the same level when it comes to their talents.

I don't agree on his level, nor does anyone have to. Nor was he being dissed or attacked in any fashion. He's cute and talented and is well regarded. Regarding the "best two" - this particular survey you now describe is news to me. You appear to be a mega fan, which I don't have time to be hence I'm only a fan, so: I'm saying I'm trusting your knowledge on published surveys and such. Note, my _opinion_ is based on a variety of factors, including my own dance experience. Have a great day. Earlier in his career taemin really struggled on how people see him based on his looks or the way he moves, many see him as too feminine or too delicate. (I admit i did too but i dont mind at all and dont see it as a bad way) Back then almost all he did was manly/powerful dancing. Overtime he felt a slump on his dancing as hes always doing the same powerful/fast kind. I think Koharu(the choreographer of this) helped him with that to unlock or embrace the soft and delicate side of him. she also choreographed GOODBYE where Taemin said was a way to express oneself. During his promotions for MOVE in his interviews he had shown total confidence in himself. Had shown maturity that he is not shy to show this kind of genre in kpop that his dancing didnt define his masculinity. Thanks for the reaction it was really nice hearing your insights☺

The message he is trying to send through his songs especially this song is just great like no one has done it before mainly in kpop where people see the stereotypes and expect guys to do only hardcore dance and girls with a feminine style. He is the one to show that dance has no gender and a move can be done by anyone. You should just have the rhythm. He is the only one who can do an extremely hardcore dance and also dance like this song which shows his true passion for dance and how well he executes every move perfectly. He is so unique and doesn't follow the trend and has his own style for everything. He is fearless to dance in any form and break the stereotypes for dance. He himself told that he pays attention to every expression he does for every move. There are some moments where he doesn't dance he just stays still so you can feel his expressions and his beautiful voice. He also said that the part in criminal where he says 'destroy me more' he wanted people to get goosebumps. He is an incredibly talented and fearless and is an inspiration to people and according to me the best dancer in the whole kpop industry coz no one can do it like him. Sorry for my such a long comment I just expressed what I felt.

That's why many Kpop Idols as well as fans look up to him & rate him so high. This was kinda sexy song that's why so many girls vibing it. By the way, the solo girl who danced with him in the MV is Koharu Sugawara. Taemin's choreographer in most of his song since he had started his solo album. Celebritis and idols: Move is so haaarrrrd! Taemin: I like Move because it's easy and I don't sweat! I love, love, loooooooove Taemin's girl squad here. I love that they exude power, attitude, and sexiness, but it's the kind of sexy that isn't begging you, the viewer, to acknowledge them as being sexy. They already are sexy, and cool and they know it - they are, in face, inviting you to be one of the cool kids, too. I love how his girl squad aren't there to be pretty, they're there to DANCE. If you get it, you get it, and if you don't get it, that's not their problem. I love that throughout it all, Taemin is still the sexiest creature in this video - he's just outstanding. Thanks for the reaction. For this MV, Taemin had to spent 18 hours dancing in the rain. If you like this slower style, you should watch Taemin's Want MV and dance practice. He's so cool in that dance practice with floppy hair and jeans and creepers. Also, Koharu Sugawara is not only a super choreographer but a wonderful dancer. You should check out the video of her dancing to her own choreography to a Sia song and, also, Billie Eilish's All the Good Girls Go to Hell. Also, she created beautiful choreography for Florence & The Machines' Dog Days are Over.

They are considered the trendsetter in kpop which is very revolutionary and ahead of the time! Taemin debuted at a young age of 14. He reminds me of an old soul, classically sexy and handsome. Dance seems to come naturally to him which proves how much work he does. Hes not even giving it as much as the backup dancers but you can't take your eyes off him. His moves are more crisp and clean but also so relaxed and fluid. Hes a gentleman, sexy without having to grab his crotch or thrust in people's faces.

The woman name is SUGAWARA KOHARU (aka KOHARU SUGAWARA) who is world famous japanese dance choreographer that is very close friend of TAEMIN and has done allot of choreographies to many of his songs. This is one of them!

I'd characterize this dance as deliberate. It's intentionally slow and subtle, to really push home just how relaxed he is while also moving with such precision. You can see elements of popping and locking fused with everything. I think the genius is that *everything* about Move is deliberate. It's as much calculated message as calculated movement.

You said you got goosebumps and you don't know why. One word why: Taemin! Others have given you some insight into him and Move. I'll add some info, but please forgive me if I'm repeating another comment I perhaps didn't see. This dance inspired a craze called Move Disease --- many, many, MANY people have tried to imitate the dance. Some are fairly good, but no one can match Taemin and his dancers. The mask that he wears and the blurring of the dancers' faces is a symbol, Taemin said in an interview, that artists should be judged by their talent and artistry and not their physical looks. And you can never go wrong doing reaction videos to anything Taemin or SHINee. I also enjoy SuperM songs, especially 100, Tiger Inside, and One. Great vids.

More than anything in the past, everyone was able to understand why he's called the MJ of Korea. The choreo itself might seem "simple" - when you compare, for example, to EXOs wolf tree or throwing of the members 😅 -, but it's anything but. To have that kind of control over your body takes practice. He's not only isolating his upper and lower body, he's isolating his shoulders, his hands, his feet, and that, oooooofffff! It's f* impressive. Plus he mixes slowmo with pops, another really f* hard thing to do. No wonder he has muscles all over, that type of movement requires you to "close" all parts of the body you're not gonna be using, and also use your musculature to move the parts you do want, in the right way, at the right tempo. That's *chef kiss*! It's a full workout on it's own 🤣 Aaaand, you gotta have an excellent ear for the pacing and timings, cause you can't look at the other dancers for reference of positions and synchronicity, you just gotta do it right. All dancers are exquisite here, but Taemin surely has the hardest job. He's doing what the girl dancers do, but in a "masculine" way so he's gotta control the hips (which, for a male, is usually easy, but for dancers used to having to know how to move the whole body, is harder to pull back), he's gotta move just the tiniest bit of his hips and thighs along with the upper body. He must be in full control during the whole thing, yet he makes it look as effortless as breathing. Even in the beginning, the walking, so deliberate, so striking. And again, going from slowmo to waves to pops, with the isolation of body parts. It's poetry and sex. One of (if not the one) my favorite "solo" performances. Major props for Taemin, it cannot be easy to dance this, sing, AND still have the amazing presence he shows. Bravo.

I recommend that you watch the version #3 of this video (this is the version #1) He dances with the choreographer, the woman that dances with him in 4:08. Also in the live version you can see how much he works on his facial expression and also appreciate better the feminine and masculine sides of this choreography, with the outfits and make up.

Temin is part of SHInee, they are preparimg comeback next month and they said that whatever they have in store, dance will be harder than Criminal or Idea. I need to prepare for it, I don;t know how. I hope you can check it out once it drops

The woman you said was amazing is his choreographer, watch TAEMIN 태민 'WANT' Dance Practice February 18, 2019 she dances in that one. Also, there's TAEMIN 태민 'WANT' MV which is my favorite of him with snakes and she has a short part in that also. Taemin did an interview and he said he usually does two to three videos per song so people get a better view, and basically can judge which they like better. These are older songs, and he's based his career on being gender neutral. Famous came next and is excellent along with Criminal and I've already bought Act I and Act II of Criminal. Imo, there is no better K-pop dancer and singer than Taemin, and he can do no wrong. He's now with Shinee's come back and he's not considered just a pretty face, great dancer and singer, he's considered the brains of the group. Most of the videos I've mentioned have subs.

Yes, she's incredible! She's the choreographer!!!! I would even go as far as to say that she might actually be a step higher than Taemin in terms of dancing and stage presence, but ofc they're both beyond amazing. You absolutely must watch Move #3 MV Duo Performance Video!!!! Koharu Sugawara, the choreographer of Move, Criminal, & quite a few other songs by him - Sayonara Hitori (2016), Flame of Love (2017), SHINee's Good Evening (2018), & Want (2019) - danced the routine together with him. She's stunning!!!!! After you see all these songs & maybe even some of Koharu's own works, you will start to see the similarities in the overall vibes of all the choreos from these songs. There's also a Move #2 MV Performance video with all the female backup dancers. In one of his concerts, he did a special performance where he switched out all the female dancers with all male dancers. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where I last saw it. Maybe someone else could provide you with a link? I will be sure to let you know as well if I find it. I also recommend that you do look up a lyrics video, they are gorgeous! The whole concept of Move is extremely androgynous and gender neutral which is reflected in the lyrics as well. 4:14, oh trust me, honey, he does wear it often like that. You ain't even seen 97% of his stuff yet lol. Prepare your heart for the future~ 9:28, is yet again another reason to check out MV #3. I have a hard time taking my eyes off Koharu lol. I have yet to come across a better dance partner than Koharu for Taemin & Taemin for Koharu. They complement each other so well, truly a match made in heaven.
