It is SO nice to read comments from people who love this film as I do. Many years ago, someone asked what my favorite film was. I replied, "Dances with Wolves". I was shocked when all I got was a blank stare. I couldn't believe it. This movie was enchanting. It had me at the opening credits.

Kathleen, it is also my favourite film of them all too. Because it is simply all encompassing and so very powerful in its inspiration. And i, same as you, received some blank expressions upon discussing favourite movies etc. I acknowledge, as i have no doubt you do too, their are some other outstanding movies (i absolutely love Heat (Micheal Mann movie) Alien to name a couple of very different, but outstanding movies. But Dances With Wolves is on another level of film making and telling of a story like no other movie. I watched the 4 hour extended version last night and oh my.... 31 years on from first time i saw it, it still makes tears roll down my face when Wind In His Hair on his horse atop a mountain precipice saying his goodbye in his way....

Thanks for taking us there! My favourite movie of all time! Just watched the 4-hour version on Netflix again. I love the slower pacing of that version, and especially the extra scenes with Cisco, and TwoSocks. I had tears as soon as he showed up, and heartache the moment the Blues are shooting at him. I also loved the extra scenes they showed John Dunbar during his period of longing for Stands With a Fist. I said to my wife how beautiful this was, and how so many movies these days don’t, or can’t even portray that sentiment anymore, as so much of our lives are online and immediately accessible via messages; do people still understand that “old school” feeling of longing to see/hear someone, and really not having anything to soothe that ache. I felt that raw emotion during this version, far more than the theatrical movie.

Well i started dancing down a dirt road on the property and the wolfs were a bit confused but decided it was ok. Well we bonded and they hung out with me. My story of Dancing with WOLVES. Worked summers on the Colville Reservation on my uncle's fishing resort. On my times off I'd hang out at the dump with the beàrs. Didn't dance with them but i was cool just being with them.
