Has anyone ever self-taught themselves ballet? I'm slowly losing hope, but I reeeaally want to develop some sort of dance skills in this form, it's so beautiful.
@tatrofamily17575 жыл бұрын
Why are you losing hope? Even if no one has ever done it before, you can be the first. Furthermore, you're not teaching yourself. You have a teacher. She's right there and there are hundreds more out there. Of course you can develop these skills.
@user-yc6ny6kh3c5 жыл бұрын
I’m self teaching myself! I’m 18 and I just found that ballet is one of my happy...mmm... treasures! Believe me if you really love it, you can do it! Is all about determination and being constant! But I’m honest, the downsides are small...there will always be that tiny insecure-self that will make you doubt, I always wonder if I’m actually doing the right movements, if my position is alright... and you will have to deal with that uncertainty... and you won’t be able to become a “professional ballerina”... but you can become a beautiful swan (: other than that you just keep on! Push yourself, but listen to your body, because it is wise, you don’t want to injure yourself... Don’t give up just yet! >:)
@nadiafahiraarsanti67055 жыл бұрын
@@user-yc6ny6kh3c Hey, i want to start self taught ballet. But i'm still confuse because they say you can't learn Pointé by yourself. And Pointé is one of the most important things on ballet. What did you do to develop it?
@user-yc6ny6kh3c5 жыл бұрын
Nadia Fahira oh yes the Pointé should be, at least in my opinion, on of the last thing to learn, once you have strong legs and strong feet, you should start... Baby steps, it’s better to be safe than sorry, you don’t want to twist your ankle or injure yourself, try walking on the first. They will feel uncomfortable, but you kind of grow used to it... Go slow (: Do some basic moves with them (Plié and relevé), use the barre (or your chair jej) as your help... And I think is always better to ask for professional help... send an email to a ballet academy asking for help, the worst thing that could happen is an empty inbox or a “we can’t help you” reply (:

I‘ve started my ballet “journey” last year right before I turned 21. It’s the fifth month of training once a week classical ballet and once a week floor barre (exercises for your whole body in addition to dancing ballet). It’s so fun! And I get better every week. It’s amazing seeing the progress. I can almost do splits for the first time in my life and my whole posture bettered enormously. I was very afraid and kept saying that I wanted to start for years but never did. We are a very mixed group of people. The youngest is 13 but there’s a 56 year old woman as well. And guess what: she can do splits! It’s never ever to late starting ballet for fun and yourself. Just try it out. Good luck everybody 💁🏼♀️

I can't do anything. Apart from baking. I was allowed to bake because I can earn money from it.. Lol. @@estherbajulaiye6848 Girls - from someone who is now twice your age and used to feel the same way at 15/16 years: DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELVES TO BE SUPPRESSED, also not if the suppressors are the people that love you the most and that you love. You may not understand this yet, but often adults (and parents) project their own fears on to their own children. If you do not follow your dreams, if you do not allow your souls and spirits to unfold so that you can grow into the women you were meant to be... you will have regrets and you will spend precious years of your adulthood fixing your past, or resenting your parents, or yourself, or, or. Luckily, I was rebellious and did what I wanted to do regardless, but it was not easy and I wish I had had an older sister/friend/mentor who would have reassured me of my beliefs. Hence my quick comment now which hopefully will reach one of you. GET OUT THERE AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE! NOW. (as long as this does not cause harm to you or anyone). You will develop a joy, an aura, an energy that will leave your parents speechless, and inspire others. Maybe they had similar dreams in their childhood but had too many fears and believed that this is what the world is like. This is also your chance to "teach" your parents... Follow your passions, show responsibility towards your own actions, and do not worry - there are so many good people out there who will have your back when things get hard... It will be a journey with ups and downs... but what you will experience is simply the experience of becoming an adult. Success is not defined by how much money you make, or how happy your parents are, but by you creating your own life and living your own truth. That is the ingredient to a happy life. Enjoy the ride - and never, ever do anything that does not feel right to you in order to please someone else. It's a recipe for disaster and can lead to harm in worst case as it may teach you not to listen to your own boundaries or desires. My generation and yours has a lot of unlearning and undoing to do of the things that went wrong in the past, so have faith in yourselves. Remember a few centuries ago people were burnt for dancing or appearing to be witches, or wise people like Socrates that we now look up to were forced to drink poison, so we have already come a long way and undid some wrongs in society, however there is still much more to do, so please make sure you follow your heart, your own truth... I promise you will find support on the way and you will grow so much by taking risks and following your passions. Your soul will thank you. That's how amazing artists etc are born, and we already have much more freedom and opportunities than a few centuries (decades actually) ago, so make sure you take advantage of that. All the best :)

I started dancing when I was seven years old. My first teacher was amazing, but a year later I moved and I came to a new class with an elderly teacher. She was a little bit frustrated because of some pain problems, but nice and I stayed with her for about six years. At the start it was amazing, just the right way of teaching for little girls, but the teaching didn't change as we got older. We didn't do much technical exercises or stretching, our choreographies weren't challenging and we spent a lot more time on playing games than actually dancing. I afterwards realized that the only reason I stayed was because I loved moving to the music so much that I didn't care much about my progress. When she retired I got a new teacher. In our first lesson she asked how long we've been dancing and was shocked about our answers (everyone had danced for at least five years). She said she didn't want to hurt us but we didn't look like we'd put that much time into training. At first I was really upset but after the first lesson I could tell the difference. I learned an incredible amount of things in two years with her, I focused on ballet and contemporary steps and got some good results. Also I got better with stretching and ability which was amazing because I hurt my knee when I was only nine and never went to therapy with it. After two years with the new teacher, the school was closed because there were less enough students. I didn't dance for about half a year, frustrated and upset about the incredible waste of six years. I got back into dancing after that break, and I'm getting myself ready for joining a more professional dance school. I'm far away from a split and there's too little strength in my feet to do a pirouette, but everything else is going good I suppose. I just want to get some skills before I start a new class because I don't want to start with the basics again. I'm already seventeen and I don't want to waste any more time so I hope I will get good with some of this videos :)

Hi Auti! Thank you so much for this gem of a video! It is so helpful for a newbie like me starting out with ballet :) I love your charismatic teaching it makes learning ballet language and movement that much more fun! I can only get to one to two classes a week so it is nice that I can watch your channel for more practice. I will definitely continue to follow along with your videos as I progress in this new hobby of mine. Cheers! :)

I’m really thankful for your video. I’m 14 and I never got a chance to do ballet when I was younger but I’m hopefully joining soon and I’m worried I’m going to be behind all the other girls because I have very little experience with any dance and especially not ballet. I’m also not the most athletic or flexible either but your videos are really helping me learn some skills and build confidence and for that I’m really grateful

I was a bartender/waitress for many years, I was always asked by customers if I ever did ballet (never have). I currently do construction and get asked the same question. So I thought I'd look it up. You are adorable and I will continue to dance along and learn some sweet moves. Xo.

I may have a very dumb question...but what exactly is the difference between jazz and ballet? Is ballet just a little more like 'stiff'? Cause the steps kinda look the same to me... I'm not a dancer, I don't really have a clue about this stuff. But i love your videos so far

They don’t have to be completely opposite and straight it’s more like your toes are both pointed out diagonally even though it doesn’t look that way. Only Prima (professional) ballerinas do first position with straight feet
