Thank you! I've been looking for videos from a teacher who doesn't have/use 180 degree turnout, because it can be difficult to know what the positions are supposed to look like when you have less turnout, especially in fifth. This is so helpful! Most of us don't and never will have flat turnout, and yet there are so few videos demonstrating what ballet looks like for our bodies. And your turning tutorial is one of the best I've seen!

Thank you so much! I am a beginner in ballet, your classes will be such a massive bonus and support to help me improve the basics techniques needed to progress.. You are very kind and a great teacher.

I really, really appreciate your taking the time to explain all the moves so thoroughly. I have been searching for a video like this for awhile because I am trying to learn ballet but I am a complete beginner. I have been practicing yoga for 8 years, but I recently was injured very badly and I am finding ballet gives me much more pain relief than yoga. Many, many things for these wonderful videos.

hi!! i'm a beginner ballerina, intending to use these videos outside of class ( i only have ballet once a week!! :( ) in order to improve faster. it's a nice thought that some of my positions will look higher and prettier and neater in the future, but what actually makes your extensions higher? your turns neater? your jumps prettier? i ask in part to gain a bit more beginner confidence, and also to know what i need to be training harder in order to get my desired results. thank you!!
@josie3105 жыл бұрын
I’ve been dancing for about twelve years (I started when I was two) here are some tips I found helpful! :) 1) for higher extensions, keep stretching! But also don’t overstretch...practice your battements, heel stretches, etc...and don’t forget about your splits! 2) for turns, make sure to keep your alignment correct, because usually as soon as you lose your proper alignment then your balance quickly does the same. Balance is key, along with spotting, and keeping your core tight! You could also get a TurnBoard Pro to help with balancing, and speed, etc. 3) during jumps try to keep your toes pointed every time they leave the ground (this goes for most everything in ballet, unless your teacher tells you otherwise!) try to land quietly, keep your legs straight! 4) Just remember: practice makes perfect! Everything usually comes with practice and if you keep at it and are determined you’ll see a difference soon! (Also, this is just stuff that helped me out a lot and advice that was given to me, and I’m sure they’re are other helpful tips out there, also never be afraid to talk to your teacher about ways to improve, they know the most and can give you great tips as well!)

I just want to let you know that not only are you helping beginners, but you are also helping advanced dancers. I have studied ballet my entire life, and just when I had been accepted into a professional company... I fractured my spine. I was at the ripe old age of 17. I am in college now (studying finance) but will be teaching ballet part-time at a new studio near me! I know ballet well but had no idea how to go back to basics to teach beginners. I'm so thankful for your videos for giving me some guidelines to help the girls I will be teaching. Sending love from Wisconsin!

Isn't that kind of a necessary requirement if you want to teach? How does that work exactly when you yourself wouldn't know what they're doing wrong when they're going through the moves since you know nothing about ballet? I wouldn't take classes from some one that isn't trained or hasn't got the experience or credentials. I'm surprised you'd even put that out there.

So last month I startedballet (and contemporary) after 4 years of absolutely no exercise. Something I find really annoying is the fact that I feel like my leg muscles and fat are in the way when I'm in 5th position. It's hard to keep my knees straight because I feel like the volume of my legs pushes me. How can I fix that? Also, how can I strengthen my feet faster for pointes? Is there anything I can do at the gym to improve my overall performance when it comes to ballet and contemporary? Like, what should I tell my personal trainer that I need more of?:P Thank you for the videos, they are really good and you are always very kind and bright as a person!

Auti Kamal Thank you for the reply! I'm a new subscriber so I haven't had the time to binge-watch all your videos yet:P Hopefully I'll manage to improve in time for the choreographies and our summer show, they put me in advanced classes from the very start and I'm worried I won't be able to keep up with the rest. Your videos are helping a lot

Hi! So I started ballet when I was 9 and quit when I was 11-the people in the class were older than me and more advanced and I found it was very hard to keep up and decided to quit. However I’m now 14 and I’ve decided I want to self teach myself and then maybe join a group when I’m older. Has anyone got any tips that would be helpful! I would love to do it competitively one day but I think I’ve started too late:(
