Interesting concept, adding weights to the inside of your tires. Beautiful looking budget rig that preforms. Great location for climbing a crawler. Nice! 👍👍

This set of wheels specifically have a recess that allows the foams to function naturally by keeping the inner wheel diameter the same 👍 Cheap and easy

I bought one about a month ago and it’s been a lot of fun wheeling it around. I put same tires as he and those balancing weights around the stock wheels and also cut the body to lower it a bit. I love this thing. I’m leaving mine stock height. I like the taller monster truck look to it.

Wondering if you can help me. My danchee transmitter is on the fritz. What trans/receiver/ecs can i swap in to replace the stock set-up? Because 2 motors and 2 servos 🤦🏽♂️. Or what can i do to stop the transmitter from randomly cycling through the steering modes on its own 😩, thats my issue.
@SonoranScaleStudios2 жыл бұрын
Oofff that’s likely a loose connection inside the transmitter causing a short/cycle through modes. You could they to open the shell and check, just know that the terminals are tiny. I’m actually finishing up a video specifically on the Flysky GT5 transmitter, which will also run a 4ws (2 steering servos) setup. For a crawler enthusiast the GT5 is a solid add, put an rx in each rig you get and all run off a superior tx. It has permanent programs for up to 25 different receivers……pretty nice!
@SonoranScaleStudios2 жыл бұрын
The only other temporary fix I can think of for you would be to disconnect the rear steer servo lead turning your ridgerock into a front steer only until you sort out the transmitter. Having crab walk engage on its own could definitely be frustrating haha. Good luck my friend!
@christianrambissoon11412 жыл бұрын
@@SonoranScaleStudios Thanks so much for the response. Its extreeeemly frustrating, esp on a technical spot, thought about disconnecting the rear servo but i'm still screwed when it auto-cycles into rear steer. Have already opened the tx, and it looks flawless so am at a loss.
@christianrambissoon11412 жыл бұрын
@@SonoranScaleStudios I will have to get a flysky tx, rx and esc to run this set-up? I'm a noob to the hobby. This is first 10scale crawler.
@SonoranScaleStudios2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes I wasn’t considering once it cycles to rear steer only 🤦♂️. Redcat does have a 1 year limited warranty on the Ridgerock……even if it’s beyond a year I would reach out to redcat direct. If you have more than one rig the GT5 or something similar may be in your future

Hey thanks for watching and enjoy the Ridgerock! New video coming this weekend btw 👍 These are both from Amazon. 2.2” KLR tires and Hotstorm 2.2” beadlock wheels. One thing with these wheels is the necessity for hex/hub extensions at least 20mm in length for clearance.
@North49RC3 жыл бұрын
You know what, you are almost selling me on this little rig. I am kinda liking its capability. One thing needs to be said for motor in axle designs, less exposed moving parts. Drive it like it was meant to and it should last for awhile. Good vid 🤙
@WildCaptures Жыл бұрын
Do you think alleviating the JST motor plugs and direct soldering the motor wires together would give the motors a little more juice when needed?
@SonoranScaleStudios Жыл бұрын
In theory it should…….whether or not it is measurable I’m not sure. Currently working on the latest Ridgerock video and researching motor/esc/gearing options. Running a small 3s pack surely helps overcome the cog stall when stock. Just watch the temps.

Mines 8 months old, used 4+ times a week. Only changed rims and tires. I don't think it needs anything else changed. If a Everest 10 would of been at the store, I would of gotten one so I got a Gen 7 sport instead. Best money I I ever spent, except for my electric bike.

Man, I had it out for not even half an hour and the front servo went out on me. Redcat is sending another. How do I get to the electronics in there to replace it?
@SonoranScaleStudios2 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh bummer, I’ve been really fortunate with my factory servos. The easiest way to access the esc is to pull the 4 fasteners that hold the skid plate in place. It is the 4 fasteners that go through the suspension links. The esc/receiver is mounted on top of the skid so it needs to be dropped out. Actually just had mine out with 1/10 monster truck tires on it Saturday…….took a beating and kept on going. I keep expecting my servos to go…….they just keep hanging on. Lmk if you have any trouble with the swap

Did you have to bore the wheel in order for the extensions to fit? I see on Amazon a lot of people have to. I don’t have tools for that, so just wondering! Mine is arriving Monday! Im super stoked. Thanks to your videos for inspiration and helping me into the hobby! 😃

You can get high torque motors for about $7.00 each, and a 2 pack of 25kg servoes off Amazon for $25, drop the center of gravity with rubber bands on the suspension a little, metal bead locks and decent tires, it will out perform any stock crawler under $1,000 and you’ll have less than 300-400 into the Danchee!!

I would run the stock servos with the included servo lockouts installed until they burn out haha. They aren’t very strong but they are quick little factory hexflys. I am still running the stock servos, they have lasted months past my expectation.

With the pen spring mod, how much flex do you loose? I’m looking at taller tires to add some ground clearance. It flexes unbelievable right out of the box so I’m not too bothered about loosing some. I mainly been crawling in a creek bed so I have waterfalls, debris and everything else. Thanks!
@SonoranScaleStudios3 жыл бұрын
You really don’t lose much flex but the springs you choose will ultimately determine how much. You lose what ever the fully compressed height of the pen spring, it’s worth trying different pens until you find the size and stiffness you like. The good thing is that pens are cheap and everywhere!

I don’t see any reason that would prevent you from using a nimh pack although there will be a slight difference in the way it performs. It does come with a Li-ion and a wall charger that is pretty adequate and relatively “safe” for storage etc.
