Their interpretation of Bolero was jaw dropping, totally mesmerizing! I’ve watched some Olympic ice dancing over many decades. While there is incredible, awesome, admirable talent out there, the only dance I remember, the only names I’ve remembered are Torvil and Dean! I’m glad the British people turned their beloved couple into celebs! Hello from California!

NO other couple will ever repeat the “Bolero” performance of Torvil and Dean. They flowed across the ice in a continuous, smooth, graceful, unbroken, uninterrupted movement, as if they were a single person. No one can do it, as they did it, in that amazingly magical performance.

I remember TND's Bolero like it was yesterday. I was in awe at the time I witnessed a once in a lifetime moment that astounded the world. It was the greatest Ice Dance performance in history. They came, they danced, they conquered. They wore the colors of royalty, and to me they were British royalty. They are to Ice Dancing what Michelangelo is to sculpture. The Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers of Ice Dancing with the added magic and passion of Jeanette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy. There will never, ever be another Torvill and Dean. Thank you, Andy Croft for this superb video and sharing the story of TND's Bolero. I believe they even astounded Ravel, who watched them from that great concert hall in the sky! He must have said they immortalized the personification of Bolero.

The *tone* of their contact sets them apart and Chris' genius choreography brings it out in every dance.

I seem to remember then saying their relationship was like brother and sister. I think they must be like that to have done so magnificently and for so many years and still be doing it. Their first trainer and they - so normal and unpretentious, down to earth. No airs. Not even slightly full of themselves and the had a right to be a little bit of they had wanted to be. Unique forever.

And still talking about it today. Why? Because when artists take their craft into the stratosphere, where few ever go, what few ever see, they show the world what life in art is all about. Here it is, before our eyes, the highest form of the craft of pairs figure skating on display for the world to see. What a down-to-home privilege to witness! (And then...and then there was their Song of India performance. There they were, skating on the clourds, the pinnacle of beauty in the art of pairs figure skating. That performance, in my opinion, sealed their world of grace forever.)

The classic Bolero routine was also patriotic for a pair of British royal subjects. Although Torvill and Dean likely did not intend to evoke such an overtone, not only could every young couple identify with the roles in their iconic Bolero dance, their roles even evoked the romance of the young Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, especially during the early years of their marriage, before her coronation, when the two of them were able to experience for a few years the simplicity of ordinary married life, before their state responsibilities began. Thus, the Bolero routine spoke to everyone, from clerks to royal queens, from policemen to princes....
