yes, wonderful mashed potato! What a great project-- these kids name and do so many dances. I do wonder how they were learning them, what sort of "research" and instruction ("research" is in quotes b/c it's kind of fun and weird to think of it as research). The only way really to learn a dance is in person, directly. By my lights, some of the dances shown here are approximations, not the real things.... Still I say bravo to this group of students for taking on this cool cultural history and putting this out here: these dances are really fun. Keep up the good work & fun!

It's not kind or constructive to poke fun at people who have actually bothered to put a video together, why not just enjoy it for what it is, no harm in making some helpful comments, but negative soul crushers just hurt the spirit. They tried, they had some fun and got outfits that didn't look too bad, they were reasonably reminiscent of the times. Yes they could have done with a bit more tuition to dance, perhaps, but some people just aren't naturally rhythmic. My mum was a ballroom dancer and couldn't teach me choreographed dance very well but I'm ace at free form dance. I actually enjoyed watching it.

They got it wrong, in the 50's the only jeans were Levis button up 501's which only guys wore, girls never wore jeans nor tank tops and they certainly never wore sneakers, Girls wore skirts & sweaters or dresses and Oxford shoes. The guys wore wing tips or Chuck Taylor Converse gym shoes. The guys either had clean-cut hairstyles or pompadours and baseball caps would have only been used while playing baseball. BTW the twist was a fad but the most popular dance was the jitterbug.
@knucklesrule63815 жыл бұрын
Hunny, It doesn't matter about the outfits. What matters is the dances.
@loncho50795 жыл бұрын
@@knucklesrule6381 Yes, in a "dance" video the dancing does matter. However, in this case, they don't seem to me, as people performing for the love of dance. IMO, they look like a group of friends who decided to make a dance video for fun and to get some laughs. It's obvious that they do not have a lot of dance experience nor did much rehearsal or choreography go into the video. I'm pretty sure if you asked them, they'd say having FUN is what mattered & not the dancing....nor the wardrobe! Regardless of what you or I think does & doesn't "Matter", KZbin welcomes comments & critiques, that's why they have a section called "Comments" Hun :)

Good concept, great spirit, and somebody did their research .... maybe just watching those old clips of American Bandstand. The Madison, Mashed Potatoes and Twist renditions looked closest to authentic. The funniest: trying to dance a Two-Step to 'Folsom Prison', a song with the wrong beat.
