Digestion of alcohol is not like the other food. Once alcohol is swallowed, a small amount is absorbed directly by the tongue and mucosal lining of the mouth. although this amount is generally insignificant because residual alcohol leaves the mouth quickly. Alcohol dries the mouth and can even dehydrate your entire body. The drying effects of alcohol can result in a white tongue, a condition that occurs when papillae become inflamed and bacteria and dead cells become trapped within them, causing a white film to cover the surface of the tongue. After alcohol leaves the mouth, it flows down the esophagus and into the stomach.
If there is no solid food in the stomach, most of the alcohol moves down into the small intestine and will come into contact with the intestinal walls more easily and pass quickly into the blood.in this way, All the alcohol of one drink may be absorbed within 30 minutes.
Males and females differ in their ability to metabolize alcohol. This difference is due to variations in the amount and activity of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), the enzyme responsible for metabolizing alcohol. Males have highly active forms of ADH in their stomach and their liver. The presence of ADH in the stomach of males can reduce the absorption of alcohol by 30%! By contrast, females have almost no ADH in their stomachs. Consequently, females absorb more alcohol into their bloodstream. Additionally, the ADH in the liver of females is much less active than the ADH in the male liver. these gender differences in alcohol metabolism if they both consume the same amount of alcohol. For the same number of drinks, it is easier for females to become intoxicated.

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

Genetics play a huge role in how your body handles alcohol. My uncle has been an alcoholic for 40 years. He drinks at least a 12 pack of beer a day on average. I've NEVER seen him not drunk and he starts first thing in the morning. He's 70 and still going. He has never had cancer or any other disease so far. Some people drink far less and are dead within 5 years.

I stopped drinking alcohol on aug 11 2023. I already noticed differences in energy and noticing how my body feels in different situations and environments. It's interesting. I used to be a social drinker. And from time to time I really went for it. But the aftermath of being hung over and feeling my body that way made me realize I should do something about the drinking before it might get worse.. I used to love it and also look forward to it. But now I'm much more into having experiences in a true to myself kind of way. It's ok to say no to alcohol. And it's ok to just go home when the party is lit. It's hard at some times but you need the boring and awkward situations to learn from I guess.. Just wanted to tell this story so others might be inspired. Have great day

Yeah, but alcohol, specifically ethylene, is the only resort for people who lack pleasure and happiness because it is a pleasure-inducing substance. Once it is absorbed in the body, your hypothalamus releases large quantities of dopamine, which is a neurohormone that is very satisfying and pleasure-inducing for yourself. If you are depressed, I recommend ethylene to compensate your lacking (only if you do not care about having great health). I recommend also nicotine, or maybe the more dangerous illegal drugs.
@moimeme9861

@@joshuarenacia694 chemical drugs are something else, changing the chemical balance of the brain definitely from first take. Alcohol is absorbed and eliminated pretty fast if you have a healthy lifestyle. Also please remember the world is full of happy poeples, so yes I think alcohol can be better than prozzac or other opioid you get prescribed, by the way stats show it is way more lethal and addictive than alcohol. But no mistakes, alcoholism on the other hand is very destructive and dangerous, just control yourself, some poeples aren't hable to maybe, or they don't want to.

I'm 10 months in and STILL crave a drink once in a while. I have to disagree when I hear "addiction is a disease", it's more like a syndrome that can only be restricted. Luckily, my drinking stopped when I developed an alcohol allergy out of nowhere after I go a severe stomach flu, otherwise it probably never would have. I found out several times within the first 3 months I couldn't haven even half a can of light beer without getting severely sick from it.

@@mellymel9983 Thanks for answering. Did you try disulfiram? Disulfiram is active ingredient: in my country (Eastern Europe, we are experts in alcoholism;) it functions under trade name 'esperal' (like from 'esperanza' = Latin for hope). I had it injected (inserted) in the side of my buttock many years ago, and it made me totally stop drinking for like 2 months, which did make a great positive overall change in my further life (although I remained an occasional superheavy drinker). The patient is told that any amount of alcohol can have disastrous health consequences for 6 months (of course I tried much earlier -and didn't experience any consequences). IMO this remedy is quite convenient because all it requires is a day or two of strong resolve (like a moment of 'hitting a bottom' and genuinely wanting to stop drinking), and once the insertion is done, you are genuinely afraid to drink (unless you are suicidal..but people in first days of complete sobriety often develop some kind of euphoria, not depression!) . Most 'experts' say disulfiram is not efficient, because according to experts it is a superficial remedy and what is necessary is deep psychological change - but I disagree from my own experience. It can help a lot. Probably not 'totally', but very significantly. All the best to your sister and to yourself.

Something not mentioned, which I think contributes to problems with alcohol, is that alcohol is so strongly associated with good times. We open champagne to celebrate; toast the bride & groom; drink to ones health; and it is readily available at almost every game, concert, party, social event... Also alcohol is glorified in the arts. So anyone lacking in certain areas sees a drink as a solution. I used to drink too much, now I rarely imbibe. I'm indifferent as to what people do to themselves to get through the day, just keep any harm you are doing to yourself.

One of My best friends is an alchoholic. The first time I saw him go through a binge, I knew there was something different about him. He drank like his life depended on it, like vodka was water. I’ve never seen someone go from fine to completely out of control so quickly. It was crazy. He didn’t have a bad upbringing or any trauma, but he did have alcoholism in his family line. I’ve known other alcoholics and addicts who had mental disorders they were trying to medicate, but his case was so clearly biological in my view. When he’s sober he’s one of the most decent, intelligent, level headed, and competent people I know. But he takes one drink and completely falls apart. There’s no ramp up, or period where he can get away with it. It’s a beer, then a handle of vodka in a period of hours. He’s in recovery now, but he’s been going through cycles for decades now.

That’s a very tough thing to go through for both the alcoholic and for the friend (you). I’ve been both. I used to drink an entire 1.75l of Jamison a day to the point where the liquor store owner didn’t want to sell to me anymore. I wish I had friends from that era, but also didn’t because I always felt like a ball and chain & every time I came around I would just ruin things, so I intentionally and purposely distance myself from them. I hope all works out for you and appreciate you sticking with your best friend. Many blessings 🤍🙏🏼🪽

Very informative and easy to digest video! I am an Indian and decades ago, in my region, drinking was culturally frowned upon and seen as a bad habit. Vast majority were teetotaller or light drinkers. But now, among youth, drinking begins at schools and colleges (mostly secretive) and becomes almost unavoidable as people start working in the companies. This shift has been very regrettable as there is a visibly declining trend in general public health of the youth.

No , Alcohol was glorified unnecessarily in Indian history too If u don't know, local drink 'Bhaang' is alcoholic that interferes with nervous system, there was an imaginative alcoholic drink 'somras' in pagan mythology to be thought as an alcoholic sedative drink of gods India's millions of farmer, peasant and also tribal communities have age old preserved secret recipes of cashew, palm , grape, coconut wines, rice wine and even buckwheat wines And let me tell you, don't deny saying 'these' are not that strong alcohol, cos alcoholic beverages are always strong, unhealthy and addictive only, and it is this unpopularised locally prepared wines like palm wines etc which many men drink , get drunk n beat up wives, or in some tribal areas even women take these wines, tobacco, etc cos expensive factory wines are not affordable by all locals So, not only 'Old monk' and 'Corona' are alcohol, instead age old locally prepared alcohol and wines were overtly glorified in Indian culture too, do not forget ancient King drinking some alcoholic beverage while angels like female dancers dancing for him, was no different than a today's goon drinking a bottle of beer and prostitutes dancing item numbers as slaves for him (Warrior class was especially given right to drink traditional liquors as a celebration of a war victory)

Also, There were lots of feudal social politics and inequality systems to feudally control on 'Flow and access to alcohol among communities based on gender and heirarchy of castes' Eg. Upper caste women were without written rules banned from drinking wine not even in female only groups in closed chambers, but their husbands were emotionally forced as masculinity to go to 'Women dancers brothel' and drink glass after glass, enjoy muse dance and probably even spend night with the woman they choose as a one night slave , and this sinful infidelity and alcoholism was glorified as 'Real Brave Man ' in Indian local histories too While lower caste women and men both were given access to drink local coconut wines, not at all cos of gender equality mindset lol, but cos 'Lower caste women like nomadic dancer groups' were by societal heirarchies forced into sex slavery n muse artistry and forced to sell themselves to upper caste married men, hence could drink along with the upper class man who demands her For some reasons , good kings of the era like Maharana pratap, Shivaji maharaj had to legally prohibit liquors in their ruling states to prevent irresponsibility

My stepfather died a couple of years ago of alcohol-related liver disease and a host of other serious illnesses all connected to his lifelong heavy drinking and smoking. Even though he was seriously unwell, we all expected him to make it out of hospital but then he suddenly went downhill and went into intensive care where he died a couple of days later. I was there near the end and it was traumatic and deeply upsetting to watch. He was in great pain and was so afraid. It was not a pleasant death and he had only just turned 62. It was tragic and I think about him every day and whenever I think of how his life ended I am so, so sad, and I BEG anyone who maybe has a relative or a friend with an alcohol dependency, please do everything you can to persuade that person to seek professional help. Alcohol is a killer and what it does to your body over time is absolutely awful. Everyone thinks they are immune and most addicts are in denial. Often, what is really needed most of all is therapy to deal with the underlying childhood trauma which so often leads a person to turn to drink as a way to escape the emotional pain.

Alcohol is _only_ bad for people in excess. Small amounts of alcohol are not harmful In fact, alcohol is produced in tiny amounts by intestinal bacteria. Dose makes the poison. Also, two people of equal weight may react to alcohol differently based on percentage of muscle. More muscle mass means more water, which means lower blood alcohol concentration even if they drink the same amount. Since males typically have more muscle mass than women, the alcohol will be more diluted. Adipose (fat) mass doesn't have the same effect. Again, dose makes the poison. Have a great day.

I have seen the effects of alcoholism on 3 people in my family and it was bad. In my father, alcohol caused esophageal variceis, which caused sever bleeding in the esophagus. He also had liver damage that caused him to be jaundiced. He finally passed away at the age of 59 due to a cardiac arrest. So I am aware of the big problems that people have with alcoholic beverages. I know there are some people that can control their drinking so that they have alcohol in moderation, however with many people, once they start drinking they can not stop and go into full blown alcoholism. For such people the only thing that works is complete abstinence from all alcoholic beverages.

@@satishk5356 Hey, man, alcohol is allowed in medicines, especially if no alternatives exist, since it is a purer version usually made from wheats, sugars, molasses, etc. and as long as the medicine itself won't cause intoxication in a manner like a glass of wine, beer, etc. It's for the purpose of saving a life, not for getting drunk. Plus, the medicinal alcohols are mild antiseptics. Other than that, Islam isn't the only religion to forbid certain foods. Judaism follows strict Kosher diet laws, Hinduism and Buddhism both frown upon the consumption of meat, fish and poultry, as well as spices like garlic and onion. Even Christianity has a list of clean and unclean animals, among which pigs, oysters, shellfish and rabbits are actually not included. Personally, forbidding alcohol has more benefits than allowing the consumption, since it's not worth it to get liver issues, hangovers, to develop an unhealthy dependence on it, to end up making irreversible errors (sexual encounters, physical fights, robberies, insulting others, vehicle crashes) while drunk. We can have fun in life even without drinking. Some people of other religions also willingly choose to avoid alcohol, since they first-handedly know it brings more harm than good. It's a small price to pay for a better quality of life.

So i have a question. Im definitely a heavy drinker, ive always had a high tolerance even back in highschool. I use alcohol (beer that is 8.1% alc and above) so i can sleep because ive always had trouble sleeping. Its legit the only thing that works, and i know how many it takes me to get to go to bed. Ive tried Melatonin and it made me feel like im on fire so i couldnt sleep, ive tried Zzquil and it puts me to sleep but i wake up feeling drugged and just "out of it" same goes for marijuana and pain killers/ muscle relaxers. I use booze for sleep mainly, I thankfully dont get hangovers yet even though im 33 now, but the booze can put me to sleep and i wake up refreshed and even energized for the work day or day off. I guess my question would be, what kind of alternative is there thats like booze but not booze so i can sleep good like i do with booze, but so i dont wake up feeling drugged? I know drinking effects the entire body in some way so its not a good thing to do or use it like i do, but for me its the only thing that puts me to sleep and i feel rested. I can go months without drinking but when i do the shit sleep habits comeback where ill just stay up for 3 days or so, or i only will sleep for a half hour at a time and keep waking up. I dont get withdrawls or anything when i decide to take a break from it, only thing that happens is back to shitty "sleep" :/

Being a modest drinker (1-2 units a week), I do notice the difference in my physical condition. For some reason, my aerobic capacity is impaired by alcohol - especially by fortified wines like sherry or port, less so from whiskey or beer. It is noticeable after just a single glass. Normally I don't do anything physically engaging after sitting down to relax with a glass in the evening, but when I do I notice I tire much more quickly than if I'm absolutely sober.

Then youre unhealthy or getting some sort of placebo effect or probably lying theres nothing negative from a glass of wine maybe unless youre Asian or another race that can't tolerate alcohols

My Grandmother drank E&J almost everyday for 30 years passed at 83, but my grandfather, who didn't like to drink at all, passed at 60. Sometimes it doesn't matter how healthy you eat or what you do to your body. Just be smart enough to quit when you see warning signs or you're hurting others.

My father was a heavy drinker of alcohol since he was 15 years of age. He recently died due to esophageal cancer, which is one of the rarest and most difficult type of cancer. He was just 64 years old and we can do nothing but watch him suffer. If I could just turn back time, I could've warned him about alcohol.

In Islam:Drinking alcohol is considered haram, or forbidden. As proof of the prohibition, Islamic scholars and Muslim religious authorities typically point to a verse in the Quran, the Muslim holy book, that calls intoxicants “the work of Satan” and tells believers to avoid them

I used to drink every day in my 20s. After getting my girlfriend pregnant, I stopped because I didn't like the way it made me feel. I was so worried that I was going to go through withdraw and require hospital or doctor help. I didn't. I just stopped. Now, if I have a drink, anything more than a slight buzz makes me feel like crap.

I did a keto diet and lost some weight, including a period of several months where I didn’t have any alcohol. Then I had one drink and WOW. I felt like I’d never been that drunk before. Was it the keto diet or my reduced body mass or just “not used to” alcohol? I seriously haven’t ever been as tipsy. From (leases than) one glass of red wine, I felt “the drunkest” I’ve ever been
