This is great, shows just how much planning & prep goes into making moves on the river. Always appreciate that Dane shows the work that goes progressing in the sport. Good stuff!

Anyone can watch Dane paddle and tell that he's a top drawer paddler. The thing that this video reveals is that he is also a top drawer coach, and that he understands rivers and lines like no other. He is able to diagnose and describe everything as clearly as it can be done. I often slow down his videos to watch more concisely what he is doing, but you can only surmise what is going on under the deck by what's happening with the boat. It's good to have some of my guesses confirmed, and also its very helpful to know where I absolutely was wrong. This video leaves me wishing that there were see-through boats so that we could see and analyze everything great paddlers are doing, right from the cranium down to the toes. To all the up and coming young paddlers who get an opportunity to paddle with Dane, you are very lucky. Pay close attention to everything he says and does, and store that away in your memory, and you will be a better paddler for it. I wish that I could have had the opportunity to have him as a coach, but when I was learning the ropes, his father was only a sparkle in his grandfather's eye. All I would do now is slow everyone down. Still, if you love kayaking; if you live and breath it to the point where you're still fascinated by it even after you are land bound, watching and learning from Dane is better than a twelve layer fudge cake. Keep it up Dane! This is a great video, and will probably be worth viewing for anyone who is going to run the Green, well into the future.

Truly a very well-edited instructional. The repeated cuts through the narrative for each rapid and clips from previous years and session laps, you really put a lot of work into this edit. Your spreadsheet is Olympic-level analysis. Can’t wait to watch the livestream from the comfort of my sofa!

I worked at the NOC this year doing photos and people kept telling me I need to go to the Green Race. I'm super excited to try and get some action shots and video, hopefully I can make it there in time.

Watched the whole thing. Amazing the detail in preparation for each stroke, boat, and body position. Thanks for sharing the secrets! Waiting for the sub-3-minute!

Such a meticulous breakdown and thought process. We’ll see in a few days how it all plays out. A lot of top paddlers will be gunning for the sub 4, hoping that run isn’t gonna stand alone in 2023. Good luck to all for a great Green.

There are so many insights there, and I would really enjoy this kind of deep analysis from time to time. I mean not necessarily the timings, but these insights into what you aim for and doing on normal whitewater sections.

Good stuff dane. Id love to see more similar stuff. Maybe just line breakdowns of the rivers we see most on the channel or whst goes into the wild scotts drop line. Kwep up the good work.

What an amazing breakdown! I was never very good at racing in technical rapids but it’s great to see how a pro does it. Congrats!

Giminee. That was cool. I don't kayak much and this was super interesting. Does everyone work this hard on a race? Love hearing everything that you are thinking about. Expect that 3.50 this year. I still love the video someone has of you getting stopped at the speed trap and you hanging out and then popping out when you decided to. That is when I knew you had as much control over that water as anyone. Mother Nature still will always win but you put up a great fight. Super sweet moment at the end there with the "pretty girl" statement. You rock and hope everyone looks at this and pushes you to find even more time to loose. The best get better by making others better. Good luck.

Really interesting video man. What do you think the best time you can get if every move goes perfect? And are there any moves that can have big savings that you don't do because they just aren't consistent?
