I bought a '73 4300 with a 350 Cummins and 13 speed for $13,000 and did a complete frame off resto and put Neway ADZ 252 rear suspension and Meritor RT-160 rears with 3.73 gears. The engine had a major overhaul with 400 heads, injectors, fuel pump, Full tilt exhaust manifold, high lift cam, and coated pistons. Shes putting 440 hp to the ground (1368 torque). Shes rated for 98,000 lbs and hauls steel out of Birmingham Al. I build my trucks it a whole lot more fun than driving them. I had 3 guys that wanted to drive it, it was blue and white and I repainted it my company colors yellow with black frame and fenders. I have over 50 grand in it but its a money making machine and hauling 60,000 lbs of steel averages between 5.5 - 6.5 mpg.

It would be neat to find a Freightliner FLC12064 twin-screw daycab with a Cummins Big Cam 3/4 and a 13-speed that looks just like that one in your shop with the same CF paint scheme. I pull for ABF and a few of the other old timers used to drive the CF single-axle trucks like the one in your shop. I can't do single-axle as I pull heavy loads. The old freight companies back then like TNT Holland, Roadway, ABF, CF, and Yellow Freight had tandems but with either pusher axles or tag axles and I grew to hate driving them as they rode rough because air suspension for trucks didn't exist back then. In addition, most of them had that damn 7-speed transmission which was easy to get lost in the gears if not paying close attention. I've always loved that big square hood with set-back front axle on the FLC12064 model as they were easier to back into tight docks and around tight corners.

Greetings from the Ohio Porters.🇺🇸 Talking about a blast from the past! 🤩 I really loved those old Ford Louisville rigs! They had such a good body style. Some people that they were hard to work on. Not sure about that. I know that some were rather rust buckets. I’m glad that they have some good old iron still sitting around and that they’re fixing them up for people or allowing them to fix them up themselves. The Freightliner with the air starter is so cool. I have a buddy that has one…I’ve been trying to buy it for over 1 year now. It might finally be coming my way. Who knows! I love that sound when they start up. I remember them as a kid…it would just blow my mind when those trucks would fire up or when they would activate the starter while rolling. Now that’s mind blowing!! These guys close to you? Awesome stuff!! Remember, “Cabovers Rule and others drool!” Well, that’s how I pretty much feel about it. Keep it cool and I’ll catch your next one! 😎🤩🥰✌️

I like the way they wrapped around the dash on that gmc. First cabover i ever drove was a 83 freightliner cabober with a 3406 cat in it ,13 over trans with 6 inch straits on it and it was hard to see the gauges on the right side of the dash because of the way it was set up. That was a powerhouse of a truck and i pulled a 7 car hauling trailer behind it and it pulled the same loaded or empty. The cars didnt weigh enough to make it work hard at all. It was turned down to 75 mph so we had a brigadier with a 671 bmdetriot in it turned all the way up that would outrun me on the highway but i would pull away from the start til i got to 75 mph then he would finally catch up and roll on by me. I think it had a strait 13 speed in it with 355 gears . My truck had 411 gears in it. At 75 mph it was turning 1850 rpms.
