Okay, thing I realized: with Hifumi being the (decoy) protagonist, and Toko being the mastermind, that's the two narratively based characters set at odds to each other from the outset, even if only one of them knows at the time. So what about this: what if Toko's alternate personality in this AU isn't just a bloodthirsty maniac? What if she shares Toko's love of storytelling, but this version of her doesn't want to confine herself to the page. She wants to see real stories play out with real people, and in order for that to happen she needs conflict, and so she starts the killing game. That could be why Hifumi ends up being the first victim. Toko's alternate personality would see him as someone that sees the world in narrative tropes, and thus is concerned that out of all the students he would be the one that could catch on to what she's doing. This could also feed into why Hifumi is the decoy protagonist in the first place: his narration could note all sorts of little things that only would matter to someone who thinks of things in terms of storytelling, and only make sense when you get to the last chapter and realize that's what the mastermind was doing all along.

You just made a really interesting AU doing this, especially with the prospect of a Junko who apparently renounces despair. Working from another comment of mine, this could tie in to AU Kyoko's character arc as well. The key Mukuro's case would be Kyoko building empathy for Mukuro and realizing the same traumatic emotions that she's feeling is what led Mukuro to commit suicide. So now, having grown into a more empathetic protagonist she can connect with Junko, pulling her back from the despair of her sisters death and gaining an unexpected, powerful ally.

See the interesting thing with chapter four remaining a suicide just for Mukuro is that in this instance, Junko is still alive. She can probably do what Asahina did and try to make it look like a murder, refusing to let her sister’s memories be tarnished by being weak when she was a soldier who’s fought through worse. Not so much to throw the blame on anyone else, just trying to salvage that image of strength that she had for Mukuro.

That would be such a good case and trial too, with Junko being a very good planner and manipulator. I think that could still be part of her characterization, I figure she would be one of the core participants in trials, I picture her having a role somewhat similar to Kirumi's in V3, being this very intelligent person with a seemingly uncharacteristic talent, who creates an extremely elaborate scenario for a powerful reason. And we would get to keep Junko too! Because she would be innocent. She'd still be a fan favorite for sure.

I always felt like Mukuro had a lot more potential as a character than what she was used for and absolutely loved the Danganronpa IF novel. If she wasn't chained to her sister like she was during the Danganronpa 3 anime then I could absolutely see her being independent enough to try building a real relationship with Makoto who was one of the few people that didn't treat her like the emotionless killing machine she pretended to be. Unfortunately, opening up your heart to someone in a killing game can be a fatal weakness. The same girl who survived multiple wars without so much as a scratch could still die from a wound to her heart...

So, while Hifumi being a protagonist and instantly dying is hilarious, I realized that it actually could work... Hifumi and Toko have a small rivalry in THH, the animation, and Danganronpa S, mostly due to how similar they are, and yet how they differ all the same. In a scenario where Hifumi is the protagonist, and needs development, Toko may be the perfect character to pair him with, focusing on their similarities. Of course, they both have trouble trusting others, and dislike one another's forms of writing, so I see their rivalry persisting... For most of chapter one. But I can also see them becoming close just before he dies. And seeing as Toko is the mastermind, this brings up many possibilities resulting from the mixed emotions of having her worst enemy/only friend die. It's not perfect, but it could make Hifumi's death important beyond an admittedly hilarious joke.

Interesting enough, the chapter 4 incident works really well with Kyoko being the protagonist: After chapter 3, both Kyoko and Mukuro are depressed because of Makoto's death, with Kyoko trying as hard as possible to hide her depression. Mukuro however cannot deal with the depression and takes her own life. Having similar feelings is what makes Kyoko realize that Mukuro took her own life and helps her solve the case and realize that she needs to move on from the incident, otherwise she will end up like Mukuro.
@notanotaku1101

You could also tie it into a character beat of Kyoko learning to articulate and manage her emotions rather than ignore and suppress them. When the key to the case isn't a decisive clue, but Kyoko empathizing with the victim on an emotional level, it would be a great synergy of large scale and small scale storytelling.

@@notanotaku1101 what would be even better is if the one you played as while you were investigating the scene was Junko herself, and Kirigiri is the main suspect because she is completely and utterly catatonic throughout the entire investigation just… staring at Mukuro’s dead body with absolute despair on her face, and you played as Junko utterly tearing Kirigiri apart until we get one of those character switches like we did with V3, where she monologues in her head about how she needs to pull herself together so that everyone can survive, and she resolves to carry all of the deaths like Makoto did up until he died, and never bury her emotions again, because she might have been able to save Mukuro if she was willing to talk when she looked like she needed it. She would then have her first ‘Super Saiyan Hope Transformation’ and utterly destroy any opposition to the fact that Mukuro committed suicide in minutes. She would end the chapter by wondering if Makoto would be proud of her, before realizing that she will never know the answer to that question, nor does she need an answer. She would still be utter trash at expressing her emotions at all, but maybe a good Junko would help her, or at least try to?

@@notanotaku1101 I think that she would ACT like she does in the Canon Universe, but doesn’t really take it too far. During Chapter 4, she would just stop acting because her sister needs support and she’s actually a good sister, but it’s obviously not enough, so in her despair about not being good enough to help her sister and seeing Kyoko just… there, makes her SNAP, and she just makes the class trial a fucking mess while pretty much making everyone else realize that it was a suicide, yet she still won’t stop yelling at Kirigiri. This would actually lead to the finale of this Kirigiri’s character arc in a much more organic and noticeable way like it was done in V3 with Shuichi. From Chapter 5 onwards, Junko would just not act anymore because “it got boring”, so she would still be a little bit of a tsundere, but almost all teenagers are like that to feel like adults.

I feel like Hifumi is possibly one of the best characters to be the first victim protagonist. To start with, thanks to his personality many of the others will probably dislike him, increasing the roster of suspects. Also i think it would be nice if him and kyoko start to get along, by being both kind of outcasts. That way we have character development for both and when he dies we have a reason as to way she becomes the new protagonist. Also, a protagonist who doesn't remember their talent? You could also do what V3 did with utilizing Kaede’s point of view. However instead of dropping subtle hints of her killing Rantaro, we see how the 1st murder happens because we are playing as the victim. Being able to see how the murder plays out in real time might give more clues and gives the player some clues that only someone like Kyoko would also know about because of her Detective skills.
@Adoribull1312
@Adoribull1312 2 жыл бұрын
My take on this: Chapter 1: The game starts out as Hifumi. Instead of the kinda gross dojinshi-artist we know from the actual game, the inner dialogue focuses more on his insecurities in order for the player to feel sympathetic towards him. Thus, when he dies, it comes as a real shock to the player and really lets them know the severity of the situation. The game switches to Kirigiri as the protagonist, because she quickly takes over the investigation, as she still has all the skills of a detective, even though she doesn't know she is one yet. Togami is found out to be the killer, having murdered Hifumi in a bout of arrogance (and worry for his butler), thinking himself so far above the others that he thought he could easily fool all of them. I would also like to point out that, since Makoto dies in chapter 3, Taka could make a great "Best Boy". His passion for order and rules could make him a great aid in investigations and his steadfastness could help the less charismatic Kirigiri keep everyone focused on the goal. Chapter 2: Honestly, I can't think of anything better than you did. Chapter 3: Leon dies in reverse than he actually does. That amount of money would allow him to leave behind his baseball career to pursue music. Thus, he chooses the naive airhead as his victim, except he underestimates just how physically fit Aoi is. She manages to defend herself and kill him instead. It even would have been the perfect kill and she'd have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for Makoto's strange luck. It's always "misfortune, immediately followed by fortune". He stumbles upon the crime scene by complete chance, at which point Aoi, still in a state of panic and shock, kills him as well. Yes, that's very unlucky, but it is also lucky, because his death leaves clues behind that Leon's didn't, allowing Kirigiri to solve it. Chapter 4: Mukuro was closest to Makoto. She isn't used to being close to people, except for her sister. Usually, she keeps a professional relationship with those she fights alongside with, so their inevitable death doesn't hurt as much. This time, she did, though. Additionally, she's used to everyone she fights with being on the same side. But now someone like Aoi killed two people, her perhaps-boyfriend included. She realizes that everyone is on their own side and there isn't anyone she can trust. Yet she's become friends with these people. The reveal of a traitor pushes her over the edge. She can't handle the thought of being betrayed again and losing yet another friend, now that she's actually let herself care for people. So she decides to kill herself. Chapter 5: I thought your idea was really good. Would also be a good way to reveal all the other information that is revealed in episode 5, since everyone is on a manhunt for Kirigiri so you kinda have to sneak about the hidden parts of the school. Chapter 6: The killing game is Genocider's final. Y'know, the exams where ultimates have to prove they're actually the best at what they do and they've been improving to stay at Hope's Peak. While not technically enrolled, Genocider obviously wants to prove that she's the best serial killer out there. Her next step would be driving others to kill as well, not just killing people herself. She needs to find what makes them tick, what buttons she can push to send someone over the edge. That's why she gives people motives, because every good serial killer needs a motive to kill. It also makes a lot of sense with Kirigiri being the protagonist, because who is a serial killer's greatest enemy? The detective trying to hunt them down. Thus, this game would be much less focused on hope vs despair, but more truth vs lie like V3. Also, Mondo and Taka would absolutely replace Sakura and Aoi as the "totally not gay for each other" couple.

You know what would be twisted in Chapter 3? Mukoto Death wasn't Intended and was a Mistake that was Caused because of a Bump causing Mukoto to be Knocked into Something that would've Killed him. This can really be Gut-Wrentching since Aoi may have panicked from Leon attack and accidentally killed him, Panicked even more, Running out of the Scene that would've been impossible to figure out who was the killer-IF Not for Mukoto Super Bad Timing to be also stacked into her Kill. The best part about Genocider Jack being the mastermind is that Byakuya was executed first, and he's the only one who might have had any inkling of Fukawa's being her. It'd be neat if, just before he died, he let slip the tiniest of hints that he might already know the mastermind, but nobody catches on to it but maybe Kirigiri, but she can't have the full picture because she doesn't know about the DID, plus she doesn't have any other answers yet, so trying to approach Fukawa about it too soon would work against her, so she has to bide her time.

@freemelons1706
@freemelons1706 2 жыл бұрын
for this version of chapter 5, since the mastermind is actively trying to get rid of Kirigiri, I think it'd be interesting if Kyoko herself has no clue about this, and to an extent, the player as well. The rest of the students aren't allowed to tell her about the first blood perk as it'll lead to their own death, so I can imagine having this dynamic relationship between Kyoko and the rest of the cast, some trying to kill her meanwhile some trying to save her without telling her directly what's going on. Maybe Monokuma even created a fake motive for the cast and the player have to find out why the cast reacted differently than imagined. I can imagine Junko probably taking a very heavy toll after her sister's death, and instead of going through the despair route, she would just feel hollow. She's supposed to be able to predict anything, having her analytical skills, now she feels like she doesn't know who her sister is, and to an extent, herself. So in this chapter, she's mostly just coping with that fact. I can see her being an antagonistic role like Togami up until that chapter as well, so maybe while Kyoko and the player can be so focused on her difference in personality, that could act as a distraction from Sayaka's and Celeste's stalking. I can also imagine Sakura, who has a close relationship with Asahina coming to terms with who to trust here. She'd probably have a similar development to the original Taka (if he wasn't killed off rip). She'd be distancing herself in chapter 4 and after seeing Mukuro's death, she came to realized that she can't just stay distant all the time. Both she and Mukuro are 2 very strong women and having Mukuro kill herself because of her depression of losing someone to the very person Sakura cared about can be a wake-up call for her to move on. So in this chapter, she decided to help save Kyoko and her way of helping can be by keeping her always in the company of at least a few other people. She's still distant, but she tries her best of keeping Kyoko alive while trying to overcome her own trust issues. I love Taka so my hypothetical au for this Taka can be that he's the one who is actively trying to save Kirigiri. I can see him being the support character like the original Kyoko. Taka would actively always follow Kyoko around, and that may cause the player and Kyoko to feel suspicious over Taka. Something that the fanbase often forgets is that Taka is an extremely smart dude and he is the ultimate moral compass, sure he's somewhat antisocial, but he's not dumb. Maybe the whole time of this chapter Taka is the one who's giving hints towards the first blood perk to Kirigiri, and even is the one who helped solve the case alongside Kyoko. I don't actually have any idea for Mondo here, sadly, but his role can be as an alibi. He'd help his friend Taka as an alibi as the player started to sus him out. He can also work with maybe Sakura trying to always keep Kyoko in company yea that's just my hypothetical take on chapter 5 of this au, i thought it'd be interesting if the entirety of that chapter is a big piece of game that only the player has no clue about, while the others are playing it carefully

A few things for this version of danganronpa: -Asahina could probably be hinted that shes manipulative through her fte or little moments in the game like Celeste when Hifumi made her milk tea. In Aoi’s splash art she’s in 3rd place and not first, this could represent that even if she acts or puts on an act as a stronger or nicer person. She’ll always be lower than others see her as. Maybe she always sabotaged or manipulated her enemies in the swimming team to lose so she could look better, maybe she used her nice personality to slowly plant seeds of failure into people who were better than her? That would make her pretty cool as a character! -In this one, maybe instead of model, Junko is an actor? That would make her whole “despair loving” personality make sense! Instead of it being who she really is, it’s a defense mechanism of sorts? If she seems like a threat, people feel like she has the higher ground and it’s useless to even try. And Mukuro could simply pretend to be her “bodyguard” to help out with this, as she herself doesn’t want Junko, her only family left (who she can have a chance to save), too die.

The fourth case could definitely be used to show how to cope with the loss of a loved one, so Kirigiri copes with the loss of Makoto in one way, maybe by relying on others to help her through it, and Mukuro struggles by herself and fails to overcome the grief and therefore takes her own life. Omg this was a really fun WDTF video! Honestly the part where Hifumi ended up being the protag *sent me* lol. Ik I might be a little biased, but I have a slightly different version of events that I could see happening for Chapter 2. Maybe when Monokuma announces that he'd reveal all their secrets, it plays out somewhat the same. Chihiro ends up telling Mondo and Taka on night 1 this time, and since Taka's with them he makes sure Chihiro doesn't get killed. They all agree to train together the next night to help Chihiro tell the others about it and they part ways. The next night, Chihiro makes it to the locker room first and decides to get a head start while he waits for the other two, and that's when Yasuhiro walks in. Chihiro, being shocked and unprepared, actually pushes Hiro into the weight rack and runs out instantly, not seeing him get knocked on the head and die. So in this case, Chihiro really didn't mean to kill him and doesn't think he did anything wrong, so when the trial happens, Chihiro, Mondo and Taka are very shocked to hear what the verdict is. Maybe the other two start getting really defensive over Chihiro, saying that he couldn't have done it and all that, but Chihiro gives up in the end after hearing all the evidence. This, in turn, helps Mondo and Taka grow closer over the course of the game, relying on each other to get through the next few chapters kinda like how Hina and Sakura were in the OG game. (Who knows, maybe them being canon could actually work in this AU.) Idk, I think this version of events fits his character a little more imo. But I do like your version too, Weeby!

Is it bad that I like the idea of Kirigiri as the protag having to solve Naegi's murder? I feel like there could be some great character development there. Like, if she was very cold and analytical throughout the game so far, and then when Makoto dies she learns to unbury her emotions or something, rediscovering that her humanity and feelings aren't a hinderance along the way. Maybe she feels a true sense of loss at his death, and is unnerved by it because she's never felt like that before. She keeps Makoto in her heart while she solves his murder and every one after him. Since Asahina is actually very cunning and manipulative in this AU, she wanted to distract Kyoko from solving it by putting her in distress. Before she gets executed, Kirigiri could be like "I have one question... why did you choose _him?_" And then Hina would say something along the lines of "Well, he was pretty weak, for one thing. And I know it was kinda a shot in the dark, but I had to try. Look me in the eye and tell me you didn't care for him." And Kyoko couldn't because she didn't want to deny that truth, but she didn't want it to become reality by saying it (can you tell I like Naegiri angst?). Idk but I think it has lot's of potential!

Pretty interesting to see. An interesting take on Chapter 5 with Sayaka and Celeste too, although I should mention that prior to her original death in the game Monokuma hadn't explained the trial rules yet; as far as Sayaka knew the only details were "kill someone and don't get caught." Given that it's heavily implied the reason she died was because she choked at the crucial moment (Kyoko points out as much post-trial), I honestly feel like she would have eventually cracked and confessed her guilt at some point if she knew the rest. Anywho, decided to give this a try myself for all three games a while ago, and these were the results I got... *~DR1~* The Protagonist: Chihiro The Main Supporter: Sayaka Ch. 1 Victim: Toko Killed by Monokuma for rule violation: Byakuya Ch. 1 Blackened: Mondo Ch. 2 Victim: Leon Ch. 2 Blackened: Celeste Ch. 3 Victim 1: Makoto Ch. 3 Victim 2: Kyoko Ch. 3 Blackened: Aoi Ch. 4 Victim (Suicided): Mukuro Falsified Ch. 4 Evidence: Sakura Wrongfully Punished, Saved by Alter Ego (I decided to spin for this one since it would be a bit odd and a little too convenient for Chihiro to land in that situation): Junko Mastermind: Yasuhiro (Ah. The least intelligent character turns out to be the biggeat and craziest brain of all... How classic.) The Survivors: Chihiro, Sayaka, Kiyotaka, Hifumi, Sakura, and Junko *~SDR2~* (For whatever reason it decided to be ESPECIALLY mean for this one.) The Protagonist: Sonia Main Supporters: Mahiru and Gundham Ch. 1 Victim: Nekomaru Ch. 1 Blackened: Akane Ch. 2 Victim: Hajime Ch. 2 Blackened: Hiyoko Gets Hurt Trying to Save the Blackened: Fuyohiko again (What would lead him to try saving Hiyoko is beyond me since they are very much less than friendly ingame, but who knows.) Ch. 3 Victim 1: The Ultimate Imposter Ch. 3 Victim 2: Teruteru Ch. 3 Blackened: Peko Ch. 4 Victim: Ibuki Ch. 4 Blackened: Chiaki (One wildly unlikely Blackened... Honestly, I'd be interested to know what could result in this. And against Ibuki of all people?) Ch. 5 "Victim" (aka the "Nagito"): Kazuichi (... Considering Sonia is our protag here, that thought is nothing short of TERRIFYING...) The "Traitor" found out by Monokuma: Gundham (Oh, COME ON! Jeez, shatter poor Sonia's heart AND ours with a sledgehammer why don't you...) The Survivors: Sonia, Mahiru, Nagito, Mikan and Fuyohiko *~DRV3~* "Protagonist' framed for Ch. 1 murder: Rantaro Ch. 1 Victim: Himiko The New Protagonist: Tsumugi Ch. 2 Victim: Ryoma... again. Honestly, the only way I see Chiaki being an intentional blackened is if she killed on accident or in self-defense. Like Chiaki stumbles upon her would-be killer, who has already killed their first victim or chose her as the victim, and tries to kill her, and Chiaki, out of panic, kills her attacker in self-defense or accidentally. Which she looks on in horror, before going to a nearby trash can to vomit in. I can see Chiaki being conflicted during the class trial, and a lot more quiet than usual, and when the protag reveals the truth, Chiaki finally gives in, and admits that she was the culprit, as she cries in regret of what she did, before getting executed.
@Aster_Iris
@Aster_Iris Жыл бұрын
TBH the one you got for the second game sounds so good. Like wow, what a main squad, Sonia with the charisma to help sway the trials closer to the truth as well as her true crime hobby helping her understand the cases themselves better, Mahiru coming in clutch with photographing all the evidence she can before and after crime scenes, and Gundham as the AI here...like it makes so much sense knowing what's going on that he's so edgy, he's literally made to "how do you do fellow kids?" these poor brainwashed souls in case there's still any brainwashing left in them. Plus they'd have such fun synergy given we have a venn diagram here of "decorous and personable" and "highly eccentric and loves morbid things" with Sonia smack dab in the overlap. Not to mention the Kazuichi case where like another user said it's absolutely mortifying given how obsessive he is over Sonia in the base game only to now make him the resident nutjob, and then in the process he ends up outing the AI who's her actual love interest... I haven't even played any Dangitgrandpa games and I have my reservations about canon!2 but I'd play this AU. (as for the whole "why would Fuyohiko save Hiyoko?" thing, maybe her motive behind killing Hajime was that she found out somehow that he was some super huge big bad before all this happened, possibly he remembered himself and was gonna either kill someone or hack the system to cause everyone to die or something and she could only stop him by killing him (which given he's relapsed into his brainwashed self he's fine with since he believes this is his way of causing Hiyoko to relapse, herself), and she's catatonic through the whole ordeal before breaking down, and Fuyohiko realizing he treated her pretty badly throughout now realizes she's dying after she tried to save their lives and thinks this is unfair so he ends up getting hurt. And for Chiaki, assuming she's not an AI anymore since that's Gundham now, maybe it was an accident? Maybe Kazuichi set a trap for Sonia or Gundham in this AU and made it so that Chiaki would take the fall because she'd inadvertently be the one to activate it? I mean, he's a tech wiz and she's a professional gamer, he could maybe rig something that causes Chiaki to accidentally remote control some kind of mobile weapon and make her think she's just playing an arcade game. Regardless, sadly Ibuki ends up getting caught in the crossfire and Chiaki does successfully take the fall since, while Kazuichi did orchestrate this, akin to the canon events of Chapter 2, it's still technically Chiaki who was responsible) (I also like Nagito way better now that in this AU he isn't a homicidal crackpot and more just some guy who's just there who's life is just The Price is Right Losing Horn, almost effectively turning him into the Hiro of this story, just less of a sillyhead and more of a "I have no idea how I got this far, usually characters like me are redshirts, but like I'm just rolling with it and glad I'm not dead." or the joke is he constantly expects to be the one to die next because he's expecting that bad luck to crash on him hard so he's like "Yeah guys don't get attached to me I'm a goner, just you wait" but he just keeps surviving each round much to his surprise and relief)

A couple recommendations for anyone doing this: Roll for deuteragonist and antagonist. Reroll them whenever they die, optionally have deuteragonists inherit protagonists role automatically. Add in a couple weird spaces, maybe just 1 or 2 in the beginning, that redirect you to another spinner. Which contains something like a dead members participation (like chapter 5s victim), suicide, a missing space to represent that the role doesn't actually exist, a new member, a double kill outside of ch 3, and maybe move the protagonist, antagonist, and deuteragonist here. During ch 5 and 6, or whatever chapters you decide to make turning points, add in like 20 more "special squares." Makes the endgame interesting. Roll for mastermind out of all cast members, dead, alive, significant, or otherwise. Danganronpa rarely ends with simply the last remaining becoming survivors. 2 ended with nearly everyone coming back and v3 ended with a side charachter dying. Make a spinner with 4 spots doing nothing and 1 spot making change. Dead characters who land on change "come" back to life somewhere before the end of the story. Living charachter die on change. The mastermiand survives on change. Alternatively, make a wheel ranked A-E, and that's how "bad" your ending is. Do a cast other than DR. I did DNDs class system, I might post it later when it's more polished and anyone asks for it.

So this is very interesting for a few reasons. This whole game could be revolved around painting the strong people as being bad. In chapter 1, Hifumi is killed by Togami. Like you said, Togami is desperate to get out and chooses the weakest person. Which is Hifumi. In chapter 2, Hagakure is killed by Fujisaki. Now, Hagakure is not bright while Fujisaki is very smart and mentally strong. And Even though Fujisaki would never do this, they knew that if people found out, people would see Fujisaki as weak. In Chapter 3, Naegi and Leon are gullible and weak and So Asahina uses them in some way. Maybe she could be close to them before the motive, teaching them how to swim etc. In chapter 4, Mukuro is at her lowest point so she tries her best to just talk it out. However, no one helped her so she took her own life. This could be a point where Kyoko realises that someone should be there for Mukuro. Someone strong. In Chapter 5, Celeste and Sayaka are both very successful people by their talents. They might not even like Kyoko due to how her talent was "in the family". When they are told the "First Blood Perk", Sakura and Mondo could be guarding Kyoko, making Sayaka unable to kill Kyoko after killing Celeste. Toko's motive could be to show that these "Ultimates" are not these good people. That the strong will just use or hurt the weak. However, Kyoko shows that strong and weak people are just as helpful as each other.

Now what made chapter one very interesting is that Junko was the first victim. I love the idea of playing the protagonist trying to cope with her sisters death. Maybe that’s why Mukuro would help solve the murders. Oh yeah and because we can’t have good things Kyoko is the first killer Chapter three- Chapter three or as it’s true title “The Bullshit Chapter”. Both Sakura and Mondo died. Now you may wonder who could be strong enough to kill both of our muscles? The answer? The wheel chose Hagekure.

Here are my scenarios for this: Ch 1:Hifumi is the protagonist as an outcast to the group due to his looks and his weeby talent. This would be a bait and switch as he is the first victim. Kyoko, who doesn't know her talent at this point takes over the case alongside Makoto, making them a great team for the first 2 cases. Byakuya wanted to start the game early and killed Hifumi before they got the motive. Ch2: They get the motive this time, meaning their secrets would be revealed if no one is killed. Chihiro wants to bulk up, but still isn't comfortable revealing his secret. He plans to kill Mondo, who he had built a friendship with, therefore having his trust. However when he was going to meet Mondo in the weight room, Hiro walks in on Chihiro and finds out his secret. Shocked, he falls into the weights and Chihiro finishes him off. Mondo walks in and sees this and decides to help Chihiro by moving the body and throwing off the case. Ch3: Spurred by the Mastermind, Leon plans and successfully murders Makoto, taking away what is believed to be Kyoko's greatest asset. What he didn't know was that Makoto was an unintentional ladies man who had multiple girls simping for his plain yet earnest character. Kyoko, Mukuro, Sayaka, and shockingly Hina. Hina quickly found out the Leon killed Makoto and killed him in a rage. Filled with anger and regret, Kyoko finds her talent as the ultimate detective and solves the case, sympathetic towards Hina's plight in the end. Ch4: Mukuro had been working for the Mastermind and felt betrayed when they ordered Makoto's murder by the other traitor Leon. Filled with guilt and regret, Mukuro takes her own life. Junko, who very much loves her sister here, tries to frame everyone else as she blamed them for the death of her only family left. Kyoko realizes the true reason why she took her own life, and uses it to move on from Makoto's death and do as he would have wished with getting everyone out of there. Ch5: The mastermind is now even more wary of Kyoko and opts to get rid of her now. They approach Celeste with an offer of $100,000,000 if she kills Kyoko. Celeste jumps at the chance and starts to plan the murder. Sayaka finds out however, and fights Celeste to protect her friend and fellow Makoto simp, killing Celeste with her own trap. Ch6: The mastermind is revealed to be Toko, not because she felt bullied and isolated, but because Toko Fukawa never existed and Genocide Jack is her true identity, no disorder. as for why, well, she loves killing. she never planned on letting anyone out as she would kill the survivors and leave her mark on the school as she does with all her victims. Kyoko purposes a challenge to her that if she finds out her true identity, then they go free. She accepts this spot of fun and is defeated. She decides to take the punishment and let everyone go free, scarred by what had happened over the last couple of weeks.

I also wanted to add an alternative idea for the third chapter double murder which I just came up with by trying to have Makoto's talent take part and taking inspiration from V3's chapter 3. But what if asahina still with this AU personality instead of having Leon kill Makoto, she manipulates Leon into an area and kills him and is able to cover up everything in a manner that would make it impossible for the cast to discover that she was the killer but while desposing of the evidence in the trash room Makoto unfortunately walks in and she is forced to kill him but due to his ultimate talent Makoto's body covers an important piece of evidence (just like Angie in V3) which Asahina is unable to hide allowing Kyoko to find it and solve the muder. Talent wise this would makes Makoto's luck act more like Nagito's as he has the terrible luck of running into a murderer disposing of the evidence of their crime and being killed because of this but his death does hold good luck for kyoko and the rest of the cast due to the piece of evidence his body protected. Through his death he would allow the hope of escape to continue and not allow them all to fall to despair through being unable to find the true killer.

I guess that, as chapter 3 is very early to go about the rest of the killing game without a support character, so, after Makoto's death, I guess that this role would be given to either Toko, for a bigger shock on the Mastermind reveal, or either Kiotaka or Sakura, because they seems to be the ones that would try their best to cheer Kyoko up after the Makoto situation and they probably are the most motivated to maintain the class united. I could actually see Sayaka on this role, but we already have a protagonist and a suport killed, so lets just pick a survivor.

Alternatively, for the Maizono/Celeste situation, maybe Celeste was the only one to plan on killing Kirigiri and Maizono wanted to protect Kirigiri out of respect for Makoto who died in chapter 3. For Toko being the mastermind the fact that Byakuya died early on even explains why her Genocider Sho personality remained a secret for so long compared to the original story. Maybe she even intentionally engineered the situation which led to Byakuya murdering Hifumi to eliminate her biggest threat... and Byakuya who could have learned her secret (Protag Hifumi would be too OP).

Since d.i.d is your other personality trying to protect you from trauma that you been through (I m pretty sure but correct me if I'm wrong) I feel like Jill would start the killing game as a way to protect toko and jill would know that toko wouldn't do it so she just decided to do it herself or maybe she could've convinced toko by using her trust issues against her

So, if it turns out Genocider is the Mastermind maybe when she is the main personality she takes over for a lot longer. During this time she does more then just murder, she also does all the preparations for the Ultimate Despair and the most horrible event. The entire goal is to spread Despair (the ultimate antagonistic force) and have it ‘face’ Hope (the ultimate positive force). Whenever Toko disappears for this time, it is excused as a “writers retreat”.

The thing is in the case of Trigger Happy Havoc in particular, I think the first murder is probably the only one where Byakuya being the murderer would make sense. The cast didn't know about the investigation or class trial until AFTER the first murder in the original and Kirigiri's ultimate talent as a Detective wasn't formally acknowledged until much later in the story. From Togami's perspective "kill and get away with it" could be as simple as kill and bribe everyone with money to not rat him when the police arrived to bust him out or whatever. It could also play into early game Byakuya's arrogance to the potential of hidden talents, maybe even having a scene played for laughs about how tropey everyone's skillset is: Yasahiro: Hey man, you don't know, I could have an incredible golf swing! Togami: Do you? Yasahiro: Huh? Umm...no. Togami: You didn't think I would ask? Did your glass orb tell you I would not with that 20% accuracy of yours? Yasahiro: Hey man, it's 30! No, I mean it's a crystal orb dude...what no I- Togami: Thank you for proving my point, leave. Case 2 would probably work as you say, a mix of accident and opportunity. I do like the idea that it's the keeping of the secret that plays into Chihiro ultimately coup de grace on Yasahiro. Something I pondered on regarding Case 3 is a potential way you can make it play out without Hina having a character change. The best I could conclude is that Hina and Leon developing a friendship or more that upon discovering a tempting enough motive makes one of them go "hey, I need to leave, but like what if we both bludgeoned the Lucky kid with the bat together? That way we technically would both be the murderer, maybe we can both escape that way" but, Makoto's ultimate luck plays against them causing Hina to lose grip of the bat during the swing and makes her panic at the thought of not being the murderer, causing her to commit to a panicked murder of Leon whose too shocked over actually doing it and plotting how to hide the body to notice the bat going down on his skull. Case 4, if the secret traitor deal is still at work it could fit rather well to copy paste somewhat, but with a twist in Makoto's death pushing Mukuro to cease her traitor role...and more importantly the role of Junko. Let's assume that though not Ultimate Despair, Junko still acts in a self destructive trickster manner about things. Every case she is twisting suspects words to sound worse, trivialising motives or even mudding Kirigiri's investigations...but *this* case... she's very cooperative. And it eventually leads to you seeing Junko break into fury jumping to point everyone else and deflect the suicide charge, even accusing herself of murdering Mukuro in an insane fit to justify the Machine Talk Battle. Case 5 is probably the weakest in this case since without the "free trip if you kill Kirigiri" motive, there's nothing to tie Celeste and Sayaka to the Mastermind plot. Even with trying to use ties from the original game your best bet would be Celeste and Hifumi (Celeste uncovering the clues Hifumi found to the Mastermind before his passing for instance) but the chance that *that* relationship would be established before Hifumi's death in this telling is what holds it back, especially with the Protag Hifumi's distrust flaw in play already distancing him from basically everyone bar Kirigiri to justify her Protag ascention. I suppose if say Sayaka's execution got botched (say the device that was meant to kill her gets jammed by Monokuma instead, keeping in mind that a replacement for the despair headmaster was not easy in Trigger Happy Havoc compared to the sequels) and Sayaka in a panic flees out the room, everyone splits to find her somewhere in the academy, only to find her corpse riddled with Genosider's signature scissors, leading to the end game of finding the mastermind.

I see the chapter two like, after hiro got hurt (the injury was really bad), he realized that it was an important secret for chihiro. And out of respect for them, he told them to “finish him off” so as to keep his secret a secret and to give them the chance to escape. I feel like that would be really sweet :3

I decided to try it and here are my results. I also decided to make custom lore for the mastermind why this killing game happened. Major Starting Roles - Protagonist: Kyoko - Partner Character: Junko - Antagonist: Chihiro - Traitor: Chihiro Chapter 1 - Victim: Makoto - Killer: Chihiro Chapter 2 - New Antagonist: Kiyotaka - Victim: Celeste - Killer: Hifumi Chapter 3 - Victim 1: Kiyotaka - Victim 2: Byakuya - Killer: Leon Chapter 4 - New Antagonist: Aoi - Victim: Sayaka - Killer: Mondo Chapter 5 - Victim: Aoi - Killer: Sakura Mastermind - Mukuro Survivors: - Kyoko - Junko - Toko - Yasahiro AU Lore: Mukuro and Junko’s lives are the same as the official timeline up to a certain point. When Mukuro joins Fenrir, something she picks up on during her time there is that she would frequently be used by Fenrir. She grows to majority resent this and she ends up leaving. She joins Junko as things once again go back to being the same as the normal timeline up until the world actually is plunged into despair. She thinks back on everything with how she used the Class 77-B (The DR2 Kids plus Ryota Mitarai), Izuru Kamakura, and Monaca Towa and realizes she is being used as well. She loses all the respect she once had for Junko and in an unexpected twist for Junko, Mukuro, using her skills and experience as the Ultimate Soldier, forces Junko into the killing game and usurps the role of Mastermind. Being well aware of how everything works, she makes Junko lose all of her memories and puts her on even footing with the rest of the DR1 Kids. Without the respect, she now sees Junko as someone weak for being wanting to only be behind the scenes, so she allows herself to be a part of the killing game and makes sure Monokuma has no bias in protecting her or Junko. Now Junko is part of the killing game she unknowingly created. She is forced to be a part of the despair she wanted others to suffer. Chihiro is also roped in as the traitor with a goal. Chihiro had to start the killing or else their secret would be revealed. Chihiro very reluctantly goes through with it but something Mukuro didn’t expect is that Chihiro developed an Ai (Alter Ego) to assist in shutting down the game.

My ideology for chapter five would be similar to the V3 chapter 5. Celeste does seem to have some connection to Kirigiri (she seems to trust her more). Similarly, Maizono would grow close with Kirigiri, getting through Makoto's passing together. Since both characters are close with kirigiri, they would act as her bodyguards. I feel like this would change the atmosphere of the chapter a lot, as Celeste and Maizono (seemingly the two most untrustworthy people) are both protecting Kirigiri from being killed by Sakura, Take, Mondo etc. I think that a few days after the Kirigiri blood perk is introduced, Celeste and Maizono would attempt to save Kirigiri, knowing that she is the only one who can uncover the mastermind. I know this would seem like a far stretch, especially for Celeste, but at this point she might recognise , through self-realisation, that Taeko Yasuhiro isn't a bad person, and is really interesting. The original plan would've been for Maizono to kill Celeste (realistically, if someone was to take out one of Kirigiri's bodyguards, it would be Celeste), and create a mystery they both know Kirigiri can solve. This would protect Kirigiri from the mastermind, as the motive would be obsolete by the end of the chapter, as well as protecting her from other students, due to the fact a murder has already been committed. Celeste ends up dying, Maizono plants clues, during the trial, Kirigiri realises that the murder is meant to be solved (something the mastermind maybe couldn't predict). Maizono confesses, but Kyoko would be resistant to the truth and refuses to believe that Celeste and Maizono would sacrifice themselves for her safety. I feel like a very very small protagonist switch would happen here (only for this trial) possibly to Taka (or even Maizono) , and the bullet time battle would be against Kyoko. Kyoko is forced to believe Maizono, going over the case. Maizono is executed (I feel like she'd poison herself during the execution as to not give the mastermind the satisfaction of execution, similar to Kaito dying of his illness). Kyoko promises to avenge both Celeste and Maizono, and uncovers the mastermind in chapter 6. I don't know if much of this makes sense, let me know what you think, might help my future in fangan-creating

Actually for chapter 5, I like to imagine that Sayaka killed Celeste to protect Kirigiri. Basically what if Kyoko if Makoto still becomes her partner for the trials form like a friendship trio with him, Sayaka, and Kyoko. After Makoto’s death, Sayaka is kinda in a state like Muruko being depressed he’s gone, but unlike her she doesn’t kill herself. Both her and Kirigiri after realizing from Muruko death that they need to move on and grow a stronger friendship because of that. Though once ch.5 hits and Kirigiri is the target, Sayaka finds out that Celeste is planning to kill her and stops her before she can by killing her. A bit depressing since Kirigiri loses both of her best friends(one maybe being a crush), but honestly interesting for me.

I think a cool way to do Toko as the mastermind would be to have her be outcasted like you said, but plan a killing game through vent writing about her friends killing eachother and possibly having genecide jack find the writing and put it into motion without her knowing.
