Nico, if you recall from V3, people can have the same talent as long as they’re placed in different classes. For example, Naegi and Komaeda, along with Shuichi and Kirigiri have the same talents but are in different classes. Plus, I think that’s how fan games tend to get away with reusing talents, as they TECHNICALLY aren’t breaking the canon… even if it’s a bit of a stretch.

Also technically speaking this is another universe because it has nothing to do with Hope's Peak so it makes sense that a talent like that could be reused. And another thing that points to it being another universe is due to the fact that this group happens to be in the range of 14-20 while in DR everyone was about 18. Usually in DR games specifically Ultra Despair Girls children are called "Li'l Ultimates" while here they're just an Ultimate. And I mean Grace did ask Wolfgang when he started college.

But here's the thing if it's in the same universe wouldn't Damon, Wolfgang and Toshiko be in Hope's Peak instead? Or at least in Toshiko's case one of the schools for middle school children that apparently exist in the DR universe. Why did the Japanese students get enrolled into Eden's Garden instead of the UTP enrolling them into Hope's Peak? ~I guess debatably you can argue that they were in America at the time so they got enrolled where they were closest to which might be the case but if this were the original script and based on the trailer then this meant that Damon had to fly from Japan to the US because in that old trailer he had to take a flight rather than a train.~

I think it's important to note that for most of the Danganronpa games we've had seen the pov of a more down to earth and 'normal' characters. The main characters we've seen so far have been lucked into the situation of ultimates unlike Damon who has a talent and seems to have been molded by it. So it's kinda cool to see the pov of someone who has talent.

I think the reason why Wenona only has one name is that her name roughly translates to "firstborn daughter" in Native American (specifically Siouan and/or Dakota-Lakota People located around the upper crusts of Southeastern states of United States). This is just my spitballing. But still, I like her already. Not only a stereotype flip (I don't recall seeing many hardcore capitalists having native backgrounds) done right, but also her RBF in her official artwork is *chef's kiss*. Thank you for playing this Fangame that was made with literal blood, sweat and tears of the developer (let's just say that 2020 pandemic wasn't the only reason why this Fangame nearly shut down several times). From one fan to another, I await for your reaction to the next part!

God, I hope Wolfgang will be your rival, especially if he's a defense lawyer. I could easily see him trying to poke all of the holes in Damon's arguments in trials while being friendly outside of them. Because that is what a good lawyer should do: ensuring everyone has a fair trial. Even when it seems evident that the person did it. I could also see a trial where one of the characters, who is heavily suspected of a murderer, goes to him and ask him to be their lawyer. Edited to add: I would like to recommend a DR fangame called Danganronpa Dead End. It's not done yet, but there is a demo with a self-contain joke trail that acts like an intro to the characters and their dynamics. It's like 30ish minutes to an hour long, and it's very well polished. Highly recommend.

As someone new to this game, I really enjoy the detail of all the characters having a design detail relating to an animal. I think my favorite is 'Wolfgang' having a sheep-styled Lawyer's badge. A Wolfgang in a sheep's profession, I suppose? I can't wait to see how everyone's animal translates to the rest of the game!

So since this is a brand new game and there is nothing to spoil let's get to theorizing! Right out of the gate it's interesting to note that there's a TON of religious symbolism from the first episode alone. The most obvious is the academy itself: Eden's garden a "paradise" where the chosen ultimates gather an obvious reference to the Garden of Eden a paradise created by the Judeo-Christian god to be a paradise for it's chosen people. However it goes beyond that. You might notice that each of the characters has an animal associated with them through their designs, rabbits for Grace, Dragons for Jean, Swans for Eloise, etc. Where that's where it get's interesting: the main character's animal is a snake as seen by the design on his tie. Of course snakes are biblically significant especially in the story of Eden as it was a snake who tempted Eve and introduced Original Sin, a snake commonly associated with Satan or Lucifer. The fact that his name "Damon" is VERY phonetically similar to "Demon" and the fact that his defining character trait is Pride, the sin of Lucifer, only deepens the connections further. However I don't think this means that Damon is evil. You might notice that despite being a "paradise" the Ultimate system is very classist and elitist, concepts that are very much frowned upon in our modern society and repeatedly criticized in mainline Danganronpa games. Not only that but Damon seems initially on-board with the Ultimate system of Eden's Garden, similar to how Satan was once God's angel and in the original Jewish interpretation, an ally of his. This combined with the fact that Gnostic themes are very prevalent recently (SMT and Xeno series) and the fact that Danganronpa games tend to be some flavor of rebellion against authority seems to suggest that Damon as the Satan equivalent will be a positive and that "God"/The classist Ultimate system will be portrayed as the truly evil force. In this sense Damon will "rebel" against "Eden" but ultimately prove heroic, probably. However, Damon is not the only character with a biblically significant animal. There's one character that stands out to me right away: Wolfgang. His animal is the sheep as seen by the design on his lapel pin. Sheep are significant in the bible as they are commonly representative of God's chosen people and are sometimes associated with the Messiah which of course Christians believe to be Jesus Christ. I don't think this necessarily has a positive connotation however due to the same reasons described above. The fact that Wolfgang's animal is indicative of "God's Chosen" seems to suggest he is on the side of "Eden" the classist system described. Moreover on a more obvious note the fact that his name is WOLFgang but is associated with sheep leads to a certain well known comparison. The fact that his talent is a lawyer is interesting as well as "judges" tends to have a biblically significant meaning but I'll admit that's a more wild speculation.

Also remember that our main girl is literally called Eva. Her animal being a raven also has an interesting dual significance in the Bible. On one hand, they are condemned as "unclean" and God forbid the Israelites from eating raven flesh. On the other hand, they are also trated as among both God's and mankind's best messengers, being sent by Noah to check for signs of the flood drying, and by God to deliver food for the starving Elijah.

I thought Grace and Desmond were references to Christianity too, because I think Desmond is etymologically connected to Damon. Also considering lawyers are often portrayed as legalists your prediction would make sense. Christitianity is pretty often accused of having a legalist framework so I could see Wolfgang being the defender against Damon's rebelliousness.

Interestingly, Wolfgang I don't believe has specified if he's a defense lawyer or a prosecution lawyer. this is interesting because in hebrew "Satan" is the word for accuser or adversary, and is not always specified to have been in reference to Lucifer unlike a lot of modern people's understanding. and in courts the prosecution is acting on behalf of someone accusing another of a criminal act. In fact, in the story of Job it is clear that that "satan" was working on behalf of the biblical god to test Job. which ultimately reinforces the possibility that he's going to be an antagonist of some kind based on what you said.

I am _very_ impressed. On both a technical and aesthetic level, everything about it is so Danganronpa you'd almost believe it was an official game. The UI, music, and art direction, is all perfect. Just watching this, I would of course critique not indicating the controller cues if a controller is plugged in, but I understand that detecting and determining what controller a player is using can be a nuisance sometimes. I'd also say some transitions between scenes feel a tad slow. The characters are both in terms of design and personality very varied and wild and feel perfectly Danganronpa, but they also have a degree of multicultralism that the main series doesn't always pull off, which feels interesting. Also calling it now that Eva is either the Ultimate Psychoanalyst or possibly even _Ultimate_ _Mastermind_ , just to make everyone suspicious of her.

Congrats on graduating! I watched his DR playthrough when I had just started high school and am graduating from my master's degree this year. Nico is a dad to so many penguins' milestones, I don't think he knows.

Oh wow. Yeah, a bit surprised about this one, but not at all disappointed. While Grace is definitely adjacent to Miu, she appears to be far less raunchy. She's mostly just seems abrasive. Honestly, I think she's probably my favorite so far.

Maybe it's just that I don't hear this dialect very often, but it's so distinct and you seem to have such a solid handle on it. My favourite Fanganronpa so far is Coward’s Paradise. That one has a cast where I don’t hate a single character and looks to have a lot of potential. Anko is best girl

Glad to see a Fangan getting some love here! I've been waiting for this series for a while now and I'm stoked to see what you think! In terms of Fangames for danganronpa, from my knowledge at least, a few are complete and finished though some were cancelled or cut shortly after starting mainly due to internal issues with the team, personal issues or even health which is sad to see as the people behind these games show a lot of love for the original series and shows how fans can interpret their own twists and mysteries on Kodaka's formula. By far, my personal fave by LINUG is their Danganronpa Another series, which wrapped up about 2/3 years ago. While it sticks closely to the main games storyline, it has its own way of having an impact on the world and has some great twists and characters, with nearly all of them having a reason or motive for why things happened in the story. If you're still trying to get that Danganronpa itch, this is a good one!

Really glad to see you playing and enjoying this so far, Nico. I know the people making it are really working extra hard on it, so it's awesome to see more eyes on it.
