She killed Rantaro to stop him from exposing her and ending the killing game too early due to not dying-if she didn't, the rest of Team Danganronpa would most likely punish her for having such a short killing game. She was forced to have Kaede killed because she would've killed Rantaro in the first place, and she could be tricked into thinking she killed Rantaro. She is a very... Genuine character in her FTEs, I believe Kodaka interviewed real life cosplayers to create Tsumugi's personality. Along with this, she, as a friend of the others, deliberately did not vote in the end. She can be a wonderful person. It's just that she ended up on the wrong path-becoming part of Team Danganronpa.

Yeah! That's why I really like Tsumugi and I don't agree with people bashing on her. Her character felt real, compared to some of the rest of the cast. I also think she was meant to represent us, the fandom or the DR enjoyers (lol). We are nerds, who like anime, games and love to nerd out on our favorite hobbies. Do cosplay, write fanfiction, etc... We aren't necessarily exceptionally talented and genius people, we are, in a way, average people who enjoy our hobbies. And I think that's why she resonated with me so much, because she's the one character in V3 I relate to the most.

Before watching her ftes (will edit when I get through them) I don't like her that much, I couldn't really relate to her in anyway other than enjoying anime/being kinda nerdy, nothing really stood out as special (well, obviously but I mean that even with characters who are unrealistic, there's something special about them I can relate to). Her whole "I'm so plain" thing/catchphrase got overused, but the rest of the cast suffers from the same problem (which I believe was intentional). Though, that's really it. Maybe to be "not like other girls" or fit the everyman trope (genderbent, albeit) that we see with anime protagonists a lot? Makes sense with her character, but I still can't find anything I particularly like about her. Will update upon completion! Finished her ftes! I'll have to say, I like her more. Wouldn't ever say she's my favorite, not even in the top 10 but like with Mahiru, she gave a sense of realness. I felt like I could be her, which I guess is what was intended. I'll admit, I saw the whole mastermind thing coming from a mile away, so I didn't really feel betrayed or anything like that. I feel like they could've done more with her though, y'know? Like have her bond (or pretend to bond) with someone so it's less obvious. Maybe she gets closer to Himiko by playing DnD or something lol (that actually sounds cute, I feel like she'd go all out making Himiko an outfit just like her character). Tsumugi might actually be my favorite character in v3, other than Himiko and Kiyo. She honestly has an interesting philosophy, and unusually normal Free Time Events, which is what her whole character has been about to lead up to for the whole game. Spoilers ahead The fact that she’s the mastermind didn’t actually detract from her character at all for me. You can tell during these events that Tsumugi isn’t lying or pulling up a facade. She may have been a wicked person in the end, but her passion for cosplay and bringing fiction to life is a very real thing, it might even be the reason she wanted to mastermind a killing game in the first place, which is a theory I may have just come up with, but I think it’s possible, and it certainly would make Tsumugi’s character even more interesting, despite her whole “plain” thing.

Yay Tsumugi is one of my favourites in V3 along with Kiyo too!! I relate to her a lot because I think she was meant to represent the player, thus making it easy to take a liking in her. Most people in the fandom complain about her being "flat and p l a i n" but in her FTEs she's a really fun character to interact with. She's such a nerd and when you actually understand all the anime/game references she makes that just makes her character even greater (at least in my eyes). As a mastermind she's definitely interesting, and I honestly believe she's better at it than Junko. Her motive for creating a killing game is pretty intriguing and cool in a way. Also the fact that she actually participated in this crazy game with all the risk to become a victim herself, unlike Junko. Overall a great villain. She is genuine about her passion, that is something she never lied about, and I really love that about her.

To be honest, Shirogane, I CAN ABSOLUTELY FIX HER.

Everyone is talking about how this is the fake her but I don't think so. Keep in mind, Tsumugi isn't Junko and doesn't have the same motivations or personality. Tsumugi was cosplaying as Junko. I think it is safe to say she genuinely loved cosplay and was speaking truth for everything said here. Sure, as the mastermind she wants despair and death, but that doesn't mean that's all she is about. Junko wanted that because she got bored. Tsumugi on the other hand wants it because it is to her favorite show and she gets to cosplay the characters and be in the actual role of Junko. And I feel she actually liked the idea of cosplaying with Shuichi. Part of despair is watching those your close to die. I feel she actually did see Shuichi as a friend and probably would have gone into despair of seeing him die (and maybe felt bad about the others.) Plus, he is the protagonist and they already got rid of the last one so it was safe to assume he wouldn't be dying anytime soon. (Though that does beg the question of what if someone killed the protagonist. They'd probably just switch to a new again.) Edit: this is disregarding the theory that she too had all her memories replaced by the flashback light. It is a possibility but I'm speaking of if it isn't.

Tsumugi is WAY better than Miu! She's well-written for a cruel manipulative villianess with an Adolf Hitler-like personality. She's a better liar than Kokichi In the fourth trial, Kaito claims that Kokichi is just like Monokuma when in reality, Tsumugi IS just like Monokuma! I love her in-game and anime references! Such as that "Gilgamesh" and "grail war" from the type moon series.

SPOILERS I do think that the side she shows here is also a sincere part of herself, it's just that her other part is "crazy obsessed fangirl that has no issues with letting people be killed for everyone's amusement". She does fake some reactions and feelings throughout the game but I think a lot of it is how she'd normally act, too, similarly to Mukuro in her Junko disguise in DR1.

Spoilers for the whole but doesn’t matter really I guess I think Tsumugi was an okay mastermind, but it would have been WAYYYYYY better if Shuichi was the Mastermind. Kaede 2.0. The person we grew with, connected with, helped. The person everyone else saw grow and bonded with, the person who solved all those cases, was actually the one one behind it all. My idea for how it would work is. Shuichi would have found out about Kaede’s Plan to kill someone, and knew about Rantaro going to the hidden room. Preparing for the event that Kaede’s Plan failed, Shuichi altered the trap during their setup so that a second shot put ball would fall on Rantaro. After that, it was as simple as getting to Rantaro first, quickly grabbing the Shot Put Ball and Survivor Perk, and pretending to find the body. Then, he could go to the hidden room after the trial, plant the evidence, and boom. Shuichi frames Tsumugi by making it look like she framed Kaede. Frameception. Then, I guess Tsumugi could pull something similar to Kokichi and pretend to be the mastermind in order to lower Shuichi’s Guard and cause him to mess up. Then, Shuichi and Keebo die, and Maki, Himiko, and Tsumugi live. Also mommy Kirumi should live ):

Well Angie is a cheerfull character who doesn't Harm anyone. Even if she ist anoying because of atua she wont be hated by much People because of her attitude and maybe her cute appearance. And Maki is like kirigiri a smart Person and i Think the only One in the game (besides hifumi) Who spoke of her honest Feelings towards Somebody, so she wont be hated eigther. Tsumugi is (like she Said herself) a plain character until the end and the Mastermind who copied Junko. I Could imagine that she would have her cool moments in an Anime but for me she was just anoying, killed rantaro just because she didnt liked him, blamed the Innocent kaede (a Popular character) and made all the Other danganronpas useless because it was "her Fiction". Its Not her fault but i hated this whole scene and i Think almost 50% of the fandom hated it aswell.

well, I like her design and personality (before she was revealed) so I was kinda disappointed. Angie is really annoying and many of the fans in Japan don't even like her (she was ranked 14th while Tsumugi is 16th). I really like Maki but I always see hate comment toward her, like it's entirely her fault that everything bad happened it chapter 2 and 5, so i think that people don't like her that much (she's ranked 9th in Japan) Even Kaito best bro in this game still ranked really low (11th) in the fans vote. KaiMaki is best ship for me so it's felt really bad that a lot people don't like and trash talked about this ship :(
