I understand why you don’t want to say the name of that VNSH holster. But since I’m not a content creator, I’ll point out that it’s a VNSH holster and right now they have it on sale for $80 (regularly $129) on their website. I think it’s important to name the brand so as to keep everyone informed in making their own decision. I agree, hot garbage.

@@OGsDangerShow $60 if you use discount code FREEDOM. And you know they are _still_ making money at that price. I can see what they were trying for, but dear lord, you demonstrated so quickly how bad the design is. Especially with two of the most prevalent firearms in concealed carry use. If they'd taken the 5 minutes you did, they would've been able to figure out that the design needed serious refinement. At least on their site they do have an offhand mag carrier that is super securely attached with more of the not-velcro plastic hooks into the fuzzy not-velcro fabric of the belt.

I was taking an informal class that involved drawing/holstering many many times. Classroom setting, no ammo in the room. We were re-holstering and there was this obvious "CLICK" in the room as a firearm dry-fired. The instructor said, "Uh oh, who just shot themself..." The retention button had slipped inside the triggerguard of a striker fired pistol and set it off. In that case, it was an OLD form fitted hard leather holster that the strap had worn until it was floppy ... I can see the same potential for a similar incident here. It's important to make sure even good holsters remain in good condition as well. Thanks OG.

Good that you "reviewed" this "holster." I'm also retired LE, so of course I still keep certain good habits. Yes, forever watchful and forever noticing. At least 90% of what people wear for holsters are complete junk. Essentially, if that holster doesn't say Bianchi or Safariland on it somewhere and have one active retention mechanism, don't buy it, don't wear it. There may be other ones out there that are good, just haven't seen them. The rare times holsters come up for discussion with a carrier I can always end it with "great! So when is the last time you did a retention drill?" Anyway, good on you that you didn't shill out. However, the one exception I make on the "Safariland and retention mech" is for chest rigs. I use Kenai holsters for chest carry up here in AK. Absolutely the best ones I've seen hands down.

Well...tailor made holsters don't exist for _every_ firearm that currently exists, and sometimes you need something that fits "well enough" until someone does make one, or you find something better. Try searching for holsters for something that's a bit outdated and/or obscure, or even a gun that's just new to the market. Choices are going to be either extremely limited or non-existent for either of those two categories. In that case, a "good enough" "universal" holster might be all the option you actually have.

Hey there OG, fancy scissor guy here again. I've been a faithful viewer and com-mentor? talking to you for years now over on Jeff's channel, and more recently on your channel. Good times. You have a good sense of humor on some topics, not so much on others. You're human. I forgive you. Getting back on topic, those Klein scissors really are best for EDC in my opinion, and at the minimum, should be in every survival backpack/bug out bag. Despite what you may think of my critique of the police, or my politics, my genuine love of theses scissors is unmatched by any other tool I've ever used. The first VHS movie I ever saw was Rambo First Blood, and the only thing I ever dreamed about getting was a survival knife like his in the movie! (I remember buying my first survival knife at the San Jose Flea Market back in the late 80's probably?, so there's no lost love for knives.). I don't expect you to like, or comment back, but I know you read every single comment. You're welcome. :) and thank you for your service, and knowledge. You seem like a good guy. The first time I saw one of these, I knew it wasn't good. It reminded me of those maditory useless backbelts that were once all the rage in the workplace. They, in a short amount of time, lost elasticity, and the velcro would no longer grip and actually did nothing to support the lower back and prevent lower back injuries. They actually contributed to more back injuries by installing a false sense of safety in the wearer that they couldn't get a back injury while wearing the belt.

I actually purchased this holster last year out of curiosity. Once I received it, I tried it out with 2 of my pistols...a Springfield XD .40, and a S&W M&P22C. The results were kinda horrifying. With each pistol...when trying to slip it into the holster...the holster would push the slide back. I had to hold my thumb on the back of the slide just to get the pistol to seat correctly. Definitely not a good thing. When I contacted the company to let them know I wanted to return the holster and get a refund, they responded back that I could keep the holster and they would still refund my money. So...I have this holster sitting in a box in my closet...and was still able to get my money back.

Thank you! I've heard good things about the Crossbreed belly band. I'm kinda stuck on the Comp-Tac MTAC. It just works and holster shells are readily available. Hill People Gear medium sized chest rig with a velcro Maxpedition holster strap is pretty good for rural settings where crawling, climbing & running tools/dogs is a possibility.

I love my phlster enigma express. Kydex holster with a rig that secures independently to waist and 1 leg to hold in place thru draw. Reholsters easy. Great retention, i've worn it on a trampoline and gun stayed put no issues

I’m a retired law enforcement officer with 33 years of experience. I agree with your assessment of the holster. That said, I carried a chief special in an ankle holster for about 10 years early in my career. The best way to carry is with your firearm accessible, concealed, and comfortable. The only good thing about carrying your firearm in a holster like this is just like my ankle holster, carrying your firearm rather than not carrying your firearm.

Thank you, O.G. for an honest, visual review. Unfortunately, some gun/2A channels advertised this "holster," but never review it. Take the money and run. Keep up the great content.

We don’t have any say on what ads KZbin places on our videos, so it’s possible you could see an ad for that very holster on this video without me even knowing it. When the gun tube guy is holding it in his hands and tells you it’s the greatest thing on earth, you know he’s taking money from them for a positive review and it’s all bullshit.

l'm a California retired LEO POST Certified Firearms Instructor, and...ALL of these types of belly band holsters on the market are garbage. I've bought 3 different ones being offered for sale, and they all are useless. I carry my G-19(w/light-laser) in an IWB Kydex holster on my right side at 4 o'clock. It doesn't print, and it's hard to see under just a T-shirt. I carry 2 17 round extended mags on my left side cargo pockets, and I carry a Med kit in a cross shoulder pack with a tourniquet, Israel battle dressing, chest seals, cuffs etc. in case I need to treat myself or bystanders in case of injuries. I also carry my AR, and plate carrier in my truck in case of a mass pewter. I concur with your findings brother.

Very informative. 20 odd years ago, when I was an unfortunate resident of caliunicornia, (Visalia and Tulare) my only side arm was a TZ75 that I carried in a stiffened nylon holster that had the mag holder on the forward surface of the holster. I liked it since I could just grab the whole package, and clip in on my waistband and go. It had a thumb break snap but I guess the snap strap was flimsy enough that combined with the relief around the grip area, when I broke the snap, it would fall away allowing my hand to fully grab the grip and go to work. I did practice enough that I was fair with grabbing the spare mag since I have pretty long arms, but not great. That said, if I had used up my 17 shots from the first mag and was still in a fight, there was plenty else going wrong. I did get a two mag carrier for the weak side eventually. Thanks be that I never had to pull the pistol in a defensive situation. Thanks for all the info. If I get to where I can carry again, it gives me much more to think about. Thanks OG

I've got one, was cheap when I bought it. Use it once in a blue moon and only with my full size sidearm. My EDC was far from secure in it. Generally grab my shoulder rig and an over shirt for the times I don't have a belt or suitable waistband.

I live in the country where protecting my firearm and retention while hunting or doing chores around the homestead and wood lot are my primary concerns. I primarily use the "Uncle Mikes" nylon holsters for that and have for many many years and found them best overall for me in that application . I do have many other leather holsters in different styles for concealment purposes that work extremely well for when I'm out and about and don't need to worry so much about damage to my firearm or needing such a high level of retention . The Kydex holsters I absolutely hate and they damage a firearms finish quickly and the 2 I've had are very uncomfortable for anything other than for the range or during competition use. Otherwise I absolutely hate them for EDC use and only use them now with my old duty belt and when at the range. Thanks OG for the update on this particular holster and some of the things that you pointed out were issues , are exactly what I thought would be an issue after having something very similar to it in the past that went on a regular pistol belt instead of having the elastic waist band.

When i started carrying i tried many, many holsters. Because of my body type, i can not appendix carry anything bigger than a lcr. I bought an alien gear cloak tuck, loved it. I have like 5 now. Everything from my little smith and wesson to a fullsize 1911 and a canik mete. I have a box of junk new holsters that are useless.

I can’t stand how most people act like this is the EDC holster. Everybody can afford. It’s easy to act that way when it’s given to you, but it’s obnoxious when they don’t admit that it’s extremely overpriced and not worth it but everybody claims like oh yeah, everybody should get one of these. No they shouldn’t. You’re absolutely right!

There's another nylon holster from your Uncle that puts the extra magazine next to your weapon. For strong side carry you better have long arms to access it if you need it.

Yeah thats a No Bueno, but good on you for the G40. My G40 an G20 serve as a Hunting gun, an a SD weapon. But I use full flap holsters to keep the weed an seed out of the G40, Blackhawk Operators in M81 pattern, kydex holsters in Lev 1 for the G20, always under cover an only carried in the winter. But thats just me for my purposes. In shorts in the summer, its generally a pocket 9mm or a .380 ruger max, with a spare mag side mounted on the belt, hey its Fla an hot an steamy 8 mo of the yr, you ought to see my white chicken legs, its a sight to behold. Lmao. Thx for the vid OG.

Seems like another variation of a belly band holster. I made the mistake of buying one of them years ago. It never left the house. After trying to put it on and figure out how to get to the gun, I realized how worthless they are. But people keep buying them.

I learned my lesson on those floppy holsters, a few years ago I did a pistol class as a newbie, I had a bulldog soft universal holster, long story short I made the class longer than needed everyone was mad, literally when we walked into the range house the instructor grabbed the holster tossed it into the trash handed me a new one a proceeded to lecture me on holsters.

Many thanks for the information OG, I was given a hard holster by my son for the HK 45 that he had given me on my birthday last year (LOVE that gun!) I don't normally CC, was kept from getting into the habit by my last employer but am looking for a new CC holster for an older and smaller (and trusted) 9mm that I've owned for about 3 decades. While I love the HK it's too big for comfortable CC for me. This info you've provided is now in the old information hopper to help with my decision. Many thanks again sir.

I have more holsters than an average gun store, all because I was searching for a good holster but couldn’t find it. Some I was able to return, but most of them are not returnable because they are “custom” made to order. We all know that this is BS, these people know their product suck. But some KZbin influencers accepted money to make a good review to screw thousand of potential buyers. I learn that most of these gun “experts” don’t understand guns at all and their “teaching” is wrong. Being a good talker and in military doesn’t make you a gun expert. This universal holster really is a garbage, I have much better version of this design but it is still a garbage. Thank you Officer Gregg, you just confirmed your honesty and a real gun knowledge again.

I have a Bravo belt I use when I'm wearing shorts or whatever and can't use my regular IWB kydex holster, and it's much better than that one, and much less expensive too. Needing a retention strap is the main thing I don't like about it (and it's hot when the weather heats up). However at least on the Bravo there's only one strap that comes from the back, over the pistol, and snaps to the holster part. You can slide your hand up the holster when going to draw and your thumb unsnaps it and pushes it up out of the way. With a little practice I was able to draw clean and almost as fast as with my normal holster. It also has trigger protection, which is muy importante. No trigger protection, no buy.
