I remember BT teasing a solo album around the 2000ish time frame. Can’t remember where I read it back then-probably the okayplayer boards, but at the time, Thought was saying he’s gonna do a solo album called Masterpiece Theater. I waited to hear more news as far as a date but, ultimately, it didn’t happen. About ten years later, BT again talked about a solo album that he was planning on dropping called The Talented Mr Trotter, and once again…nothing. By that time, I had already accumulated so many non-Roots BT songs, remixes to Roots songs, guest appearances, etc. But yo-did you ever hear any Money Making Jam Boys albums? There’s two of them, I think, but the second album, “The Prestige” is dope af. The group consists of Black Thought, Dice Raw, Truck North, STS and PORN (terrible name. Good luck searching for any of his work). Thought does some heavy work on that album. And have you heard his Streams of Thought projects? Peace

Peace to Lionsdinner recognizing winners I live the fact while I love the fact you appreciate the fact that this rap is full of words that we can’t even describe as a matter of fact that ! It’s chunky, the beat the sound, the feeling compounds, all of it makes you feel that you don’t have time to put it down in a concentrated verbal sense worth of its lyrical CROWN! Did I just take the words out your mouth?, respectfully, this is hip hop vasectomy, words don’t have to always but words will bring weaponry, especially when Black Thought spits so intellectually! 🙌🏾🙏🏾

One can only hope he finally gets the ultimate and final recognition. I’ve been preaching about his superiority to everyone around me for 14 years. Like you can have a top five, but Black Thought really surpasses that. He is his own league, a legend in the flesh. His lyrical skills is absolutely amazing, and studying his progress for the early Roots days to where he’s taken himself now is astonishing. Black Thought is not only a rapper and a lyricist, but a prophet in its deepest definition. We would ALL be better off if we learned by his story in life, no matter who you are or where you come from. Tragedy turned triumph

As someone less than even moderately interested in rap/hip hop music, this is awesome. No needless profanity, great tempo, unique lyrics. This one's going into the playlists.

I also recommend DM's band Broken Bells, which they also just released a killer new track. The albums he produced with Norah Jones, The Black Keys, and many others are top notch too. But the big one not to miss in my opinion is his album collabo with Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs it's called Lux Prima. Happy listening fellow DM fans.
