I'm new to the son genre, but doesn't their tempo change to half a bar off in the second half of the video? In my understanding, for the follower, when you step on 8 you do it with your right foot, and I noticed she did it with her left foot. At the beginning of the video her steps were how I think is the right way, but later on they changed.

Actually it does not matter, some leaders/followers start with left others with the right. It's the same as Salsa Cubana, I heard a lot of people discussing about the left or the right foot, If you go to Cuba, you will see half of the people doing with one foot and the other half with the other and still look awesome, and why is that? because they dance to the clave, you will not see them counting 1-2-3 & 5-6-7 and that would be the cuban way. The hard rules in which the leader always have to go left forward on the beat #1 I think it was introduced in Salsa LA (on1), then people unintentionally mix it how it's danced in Cuba and started applying rules of Salsa LA to Cuban Salsa which is a complete different story. Going back to the video even I really enjoyed the video (musicality wise), they are not doing the moved of the traditional Son Cubano, in which you can always do one or 2 shines during the song, but not all the song long. I knew Son Moderno is a variety of the Son Cubano, but I am not sure if that means they can do other stuff apart of the Son Cubano or Son Montuno.
