An instrumental cover of Danger Zone from the movie Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick, originally performed by Kenny Loggins and produced by Giorgio Moroder.
I recreated all the parts by ear in Cubase 12 Pro.
Although I'm not a guitar player (I'm a pianist), I managed to generate the guitar sounds using a combination of Native Instruments Electric Sunburst, and the Guitars Expansion in ReFX Nexus.
All instruments and effects used in this production are VST.
This track was suggested by a number of channel followers including ‪@themaskedviolinist1075‬ ‪@frenchyboy2248‬ ‪@ge0music307‬ and many others who's support I greatly appreciate. Thank you.

The final version turned out great with the addition of the sax. Thanks for the mention, I wasn't one of those that requested this track but glad you did it anyway. I think I requested Howard Jones lol. Looking forward to the next project. 😀

Hi mate, first of all, thank you very much for the mention in the video description. What can I say ... it's a really great job! You have taken care of all the sections in detail with particular attention to recreating the original sounds of the era. Sincere congratulations ! You are a Master of mixing and mastering! 😃 Feels like listening to the original version of the movie! Congratulations mate and great work, as always. 😉

AGAIN, you captured the tiny details. I know this soundtrack well. Really amazing work you've done. Yes, I appreciate the jet noise in the background. Did you get special permission from the Dept. of the Navy to sample an F-14 engine in San Diego?

How do you get the exact sounds (the presets of the vst)? Sounds so near of the original. Did you use MIDI clips? By the way, amazing channel 🎹👍🏻

Thank you 👍. I layer multiple sounds until I get what I'm looking for, so one part might have 3 or more sounds playing at the same time.

@@juliancroot Thank you for your reply, you mean that you work with 3 oscillators for making the synthesis? Nice work Julian 👍🏻

@@mariorivera3312 Yes, but not just synth sounds. I once told the story of how I created the lead sound from A-Ha's 'Take on Me', and it started with the sound of a Kettle Drum, then I added a Marimba, then a couple synth patches on top.... mixed in the right quantities it worked. I try to hear any resemblance to 'real' instruments in the original sound, and use that as a base to build on.

Wow man, fantastic job. You have the mix nailed to a T. I always assumed this was recorded and mixed to DAT, and you have that slightly distorted sample feel in the transients even. Did you use anything in the mix bus to bit crush?
@juliancroot
@juliancroot Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I had to do plenty of experimenting to get that and it was a few different processes. I've forgotten exactly what I did here but I do remember running the guitar sounds through a distortion plugin and playing with the settings for ages until I got something in the ball park.
