There is also a rabbit papillonavirus that causes similar growths. Some of these growths come out of the poor bunny's face or head, making them look like they have giant teeth or antlers. In fact, it's believed that rabbits infected with this virus might actually explain so-called sightings of jackalope or German wolpertinger cryptids.

6:40 Fun bit: In Brazil we call those bugs "The barber". Every school has classes on how to identify those bugs and their favorite spots for nests, how to avoid them and the appropriate course of action if we were bitten. Same goes for "Dengue", Malaria, "Chikungunha" and other South American threats.

For the deer papilloma virus, just because you are extremely unlikely to contact the virus from a single interaction with the deer, studies of viruses suggests that prolonged exposure to infected animals will increase the likelihood of a virus jumping species. A virus infection is when the virus reproduces faster than the body's immune system can kill the virus, and illness duration is how long it takes for your immune system to overcome the reproduction rate. So when dealing with wildlife, handle with care, a seasoned hunter can spot sick animals and know how to avoid.

Hey I think I could add one that you probably haven't heard of. The Sheep's moth caterpillar. It's a beautiful large moth but the caterpillar has stinging barbs like the flannel moth caterpillar.

I had a flannel moth fall out of a cedar tree and go down the the front of my shirt. It rolled all the way down my chest and was super painful. It was like scrubbing my chest with stinging nettle and then lighting the effected area on fire. I’ve been stung and bit by a tons of different kinds of entomology and this was one of the worst experiences of my life. Besides maybe ripping my arm out of socket on an icy ramp and then ripping the other one out of socket a couple months later slipping into the mouth of a cave and slamming directly onto a rock.

While the creatures showcased here are undeniably fascinating, their danger is a testament to the wild and unpredictable beauty of the animal kingdom. Have you ever had a close encounter with a potentially dangerous animal, or do you have a story to share about the incredible ways these creatures adapt and survive? If only Chance the American bulldog in Homeward Bound had thought twice about being nosy with the porcupine. Funny as it is that he mistook the vets trying to remove the quills from him for animal poachers upon being taken in until he escaped, he still bought it on himself to pay the price for getting too close to that porcupine in that “incredible journey” over the mountains that he took Sassy and Shadow on. Memorable movie, for sure, but even for our pets, that one scene I just described from such a Disney classic still has a critical moral.

I got hit by a group of Portuguese Man O War in Hawaii when I was 14 when I was boogie boarding and it only caused a severe stinging sensation with myself. As soon as I put meat tenderizer on the multiple wounds I did t notice the pain anymore even with getting a ton of sun everyday while in the ocean 90% of the daytime. Side note if you don’t have meat tenderizer with you when someone gets stung they can use their own urine (not another persons due to possibly having infectious stuff within it) to pour on the sting site that will help relieve the pain in a similar fashion to meat tenderizer due to the NH3/NH4 that are in both that react with the toxins from many jellyfish stings and insect stings. I usually carry meat tenderizer with me whenever I’m outside in my supplies for my group but if you don’t have it urine will do the trick in a pinch.

I have a vinegaroon. Their pinches don't hurt if they do happen to pinch. Which isn't very likely. And the "acid" is legit just vinegar. It may be more acidic but it isn't anything to be afraid of. The only reason it should burn is if you have sensitive skin. I've been sprayed and it does not burn to me. As long as you wash your hands thoroughly after, you should be good. Just don't touch your eyes before hand. Obviously that'll burn. Mine is a baby right now but they're really not that bad. I'm sure if they were, people wouldn't keep them as pets. I hold mine a lot and it's the sweetest. They're nothing to be afraid of. Just feed them when they're suppose to be (they can go up to a year without food but we don't do that obviously. )and hold them carefully. They won't hurt you. Me and my mom both have one each, and havent had any problems. Theyre literally considered a good beginner pet. Fun fact: I'm holding it right now lol I should add that if you do happen to get sprayed in the eyes by one, immediately rinse them. In worse cases you may need to call medics to help. Only if you have more sensitive eyes, but if you can get the burning to go away on your own then try to do so.

Some interesting creatures , most of which I was aware of , even though where I live has 1 poisonous spider , which looks like the Black widow . There's also a couple of trees that are toxic - one being covered in fine hairs , which is where the toxin is . There's also 3-4 sea snakes , that are native , and venomous , yet curious of humans . The Portuguese Man o War , or Blue Bottle Jelly fish , does get into our waters , and has been noted , washed up . These things have long tentacles which are all but invisable in the ocean - the tentacles I've seen on shore , were at least 3 feet long , which knowing how dangerous they were , was reason enough to walk around the beast , upslope on the shore .

Being a true Floridian living on the coast most of my life I know about Man 'O Wars. Beach goers and tourists should always carry white vinegar in beach bag. White vinegar neutralizes the nematocysts that inject venom into the skin, help relieve pain and minimize reactions. It works with other kinds of jelly fish as well. Life guard stations have vinegar but it's best to have your own. Man "O War tentacles can be as much as 60' long and can still sting when dead. I've seen kids get stung when they mess with the bubble head as it does look like a pretty blue balloon.

Idk why they have it on the list. Vinegaroons are harmless unless your skin is sensitive to the acid. The acid isn't that bad. I've been sprayed by mine many times and it doesn't hurt. I have mine on my finger rn while typing. They're sweet but skiddish.

1:55 There is also vinegar essence ~ 15 - 25 % for the kitchen, but mostly for the catering industry, and vinegar Acid 80% ! She will, among other things, used as an acidulant in pasta or as a preservative in canned foods. Acetic acid is also used as an auxiliary in the production of dairy products and in cosmetics as an acidity regulator and for the production of stable suspensions. Vinegar essence (25% acid) is concentrated vinegar with disinfectant effects. Effective against germs, mold and odors. As a tried and tested home remedy, vinegar concentration can be used in many ways in the kitchen, bathroom and household. Considered an important component in the production of cleaning products.

Ooooooh, I’ve seen the giant water bugs a ton when we had to clean out the lakes at my old job every now and then, didn’t even know they could hurt you 😅😳 They definitely aren’t aggressive bc we just cleaned the lakes up and those never really bothered us

18:51 defense If the maned rat is startled, it will make a hissing sound and raise its back mane. This threatening gesture could be confused by some animals with a porcupine raising its quills (mimicry). The maned rat also has an exceptional defense strategy against predators. It chews the bark of highly poisonous plants - (Acokanthera schimperi and possibly - (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) and then applies its toxic saliva to the hairs of its striking dorsal crest. The hair located there has a double hair shaft, one of which has external pores that absorb saliva particularly well. However, it is not yet clear why the poison has no effect on the maned rat.[2][3][4][5]

11:10 Giant isopods are a good example of deep-sea gigantism (cf. giant squid), as they are far larger than the "typical" isopods that are up to 5 cm (2.0 in). Bathynomus can be divided into "giant" species where the adults generally are between 8 and 15 cm (3.1 and 5.9 in) long and "supergiant" species where the adults generally are between 17 and 50 cm (6.7 and 19.7 in).[1][7] One of the "supergiants", B. giganteus, reaches a typical length between 19 and 36 cm (7.5 and 14.2 in);[4] an individual claimed to be 76 cm (30 in) long has been reported by the popular press, but the largest confirmed was c. 50 cm (20 in).[7]
