@Jon Valler Depends on the shot really, any arrow in the heart/lungs/neck/head will kill render the animal unconscious/dead before it even knows what happened. Add the adrenaline spike the animal receives and it likely feels no pain at all. It's similar to how many people who have got shot didn't even know it for awhile until their adrenaline relaxes.
