It's actually so encouraging to see birth control pills being more readily available in the US. I'm not American, but I worry so much about all the people there who are at risk of an unwanted pregnancy. I hope we see more options available in the future.

I so agree!

I saw this at Costco and I was so excited! I have a nexplanon right now but it's awesome to know that this is available for others!

4:28 omg when you said "it means... we can follow directions... and we have a study to prove that" in a semi annoyed tone cracked me up. Cant believe we need a study to say that we are able to understand basic concepts

I love this channel. A healthy antidote to other forums where everyone scares you away from birth control. My only questions are if this progestin might increase acne or risk of facial hair growth. I don't have high androgens but heard that that is a risk.. I wish there was a way to take a birth control pill that doesn't cause acne / hair or alternatively lower libido with COCs. All said, I love that we're making this more accessible. And frankly, some people I know had more data and studies in their back pocket to determine which medication or BC method was right for them :)

Love your comment! I aim to be the opposite of fear-mongering :) And re: your question, definitely valid and it can depend on the user!

But… but… How will conservative legislatures (and religious leaders, parents, boyfriends, etc., etc.) be able to maintain control of women's lives and sexuality if women (of all reproductive ages) are able to get this medication on their own?

Thank you for making such informative KZbin videos. I just found you today and love watching. I was wondering if you had any insight or opinions on the at-home hormone testing devices like Mira, Kegg, and Inito. After 10months of tracking my cycle with symptoms, mucus, and period dates through an app, I started using the Mira tester and within the first full month noticed that my ovulation was closer to days 32-33 of my cycle instead of day 22 which my other apps had suggested. Do you think these devices are accurate or have you heard of your patients using them and seeing success? Thank you again.

Hello I have a question. There is a lot of breast cancer in my family (my father's sisters), can I use it safely now? I am now 40 years old and as far as I know I am free of breast cancer, but I am now afraid to use this pill.

It’s great to make sure you’re up to date on screening if you’re worried, but a family history is not listed as a reason not to use this pill. Hope that helps!

My Doctor is threatening to hold my medicine because I haven’t had an exam done. I’m scared to have it done because they hurt. So this would be a good option if she follows through with that threat? I take it for PCOS.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. FYI Birth control can also be mailed and prescribed without an exam - I have a video on that you can check out too!

Dr. Lincoln made a video about that question. Find a new doctor. I’ve never been on birth control before and never plan to be but it’s still important for a doctor to treat you with respect and this doesn’t seem to be happening.

Please don’t avoid visiting your doctor if you are talking about your cervical cancer screenings, pelvic and breast exams! Yes, they are uncomfortable and suck, but isn’t it better to know if everything is normal? Prevention and early detection for cancers is so important - especially since women are so often overlooked in healthcare ❤❤❤ don’t get me wrong though, if you can save some money getting OTC BC, then I’m all for it - just don’t neglect the other things that went hand in hand with those annual visits.
