Don’t whatever you do drive in Naples, go and visit but leave the van outside and travel in by train.

I remember crying while driving, by error into Birmingham and then parking in a dark dodgy area too scared to leave the car to ask directions. Just keep safe and find somewhere less stressful to drive in. It can be more tiring than a week at work if you are driving in a panic. We all adore you so we want you to be happy and well.

Next time for Florence try Villa Costanza off A1autostrada go in by the T1 Tram about 20 minutes to city Train station. Then it's a 20 minute walk to Uffizi Gallery,Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Italians think racing car drivers. On a zebra crossing just make eye contact with car drivers and start walking across very big fine for a driver if they hit you. To get outside Schengen zone take a ferry to Albania,Montenegro. Also you can use a ferry to Greece and drive north for Albania,Montenegro or east to Bulgaria and Turkey. My last Motorhome trip was down to Sicily.

I first went on a school trip to Italy when I was 14 and again, many years later, in 2001 on two separate trips with my late husband David. The zebra crossings were manic then together with the traffic and mental drivers, although we never had a car just used public transport. I think one of the most busy places was Rome but I had always wanted to visit the Colosseum and the Forum and wasn’t disappointed. Florence and Pisa we also loved, so that is why I am enjoying reliving my memories through you two. Thank you.

A little tip. When visiting a new city, we look for the student areas ( usually close to a university). Usually vibrant and cheaper for food and drink.

That traffic looks insane the way they are riding those bikes on and out. It's a good job Marks a good driver not easy in a Motor Home with it's size. As a general rule on the crossings in Italy…. As long as you give them to time to stop, they will. So check they can stop, and walk out in front of them - they will not stop for you on a crossing unless you make them. So it’s a case of whoever blinks first!! 😂😂😂 And with regards to the driving standards - the further south you go, the worst the driving gets. Around Naples it’s bonkers! I drove the Amalfi Coast a few years ago - had great fun keeping up with the locals. Close your eyes and hope for the best seems to work. (Works in a hire car anyway!) Italian drivers - Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile! Haha Keep safe, and happy travels!!

We moved to Italy 12 years ago. Forget everything about driving , parking and crossing roads in the UK. Basically there are no rules. Always be prepared for them to do the unexpected, and they will. Give them space. They never, ever indicate. ( If you see anyone indicate they will be a tourist ). Parking anywhere, a special favourite is parking On zebra crossings. Tailgating always. Saying all that, Italian drivers are very forgiving, they might blast you with their horn if you dont pull away from the lights the Second they change green but most other mistakes are shrugged off. Just need to keep your wits about you all the time.

I lived in Rome for three years, my moto when driving - if you think there's no way they're going to do that, think again they will do it- expect craziness it's just the culture, it's not meant to offend or be rude. There are rules for diving etc but they are rarely if ever adhered to. I learned to flip my fingers under my chin and yell back. Loved it all, Italy is great. I hope you guys make it to Greece sometime, the Greeks are the best people and Mark will love the food.

I can so sympathise with you Lisa, there are some crazy drivers in Italy. The rules of the road just don’t seem to matter. Our italian friends told us that the insurance in Italy is high so more often than not the drivers just sort things between themselves if they have a bump. In all the years we have been going over we have seen very little road rage. Florence is beautiful, it’s a shame you didn’t have time to see more, the Ponte Vecchio is amazing. Safe travels xx

Traffic lights are only a suggestion! To cross the road you have to look into the eyes of the driver to show you really mean it. Car insurance is very expensive in Italy so believe it or not the driving although terrifying is fairly measured. Its madness I witnessed a couple kissing in the middle of the road and the traffic stopped! Motorway lorry drivers with their leg hanging out the cab window. Must be the heat. Love your channnel xxx

Another fab vlog guy's, we both love watching you both and chico. We did Italy last year and went all the way down to pompey. We loved it but had our secret weapon for getting around... a new Lambretta petrol scooter. Jane suffers from vertigo so is not very good on bikes or scooters. She jumps on the back of me and feels really safe. I know where you are coming from with the traffic! It's dog eat dog out there. The petrol scooter has been a game changer for us Rome was really nuts but we did the colosseum. That was really impressive with all the other landmarks there.
