Listen, when parents get super competitive about their kids’ school fundraisers, it tells me that they peaked in high school and still haven’t moved past that. It’s super weird when the parents are more invested in a school fundraiser than their kids are.

Not a parent but this screamed LIVING THROUGH MY CHILD which puts children in an uncomfortable position of needing to play this game of ego between adults to get their parental validation (and love) which results in pushing the child to do activaties the parents want, not their child, and that definitely brings up some trauma 😬

It's been bugging me for a while, but I finally put it together. I've known people to use the term "Mama's happy juice." It was code for day drinking in front of their kids. It was bugging me that it was sending up all kinds of red flags, but I can't believe it took this long to add it up, probably because that later evolved into being what parents would tell their kids about their coffee... but apparently I'm not the only one who's known the term "happy juice" to mean alcohol when you're not supposed to be drinking... But, mom of 4, and can confirm, it never gets easy before they turn 18. The challenges change, but they don't get easier, just different. And I had zero support when my kids were young. Here I was, at home, with a newborn, still the one who had to get up and make breakfast, clean the house, and respond to the needs of the other kids. Add that stress with varying levels of postpartum depression with each birth? I honestly think I might have jumped on trying this out of utter desperation to feel a little bit better. Thankfully I realized what I need is a good cup of tea and to cuddle up somewhere all cozy to take a beat for myself (thank you therapy for that discovery). People who profit off the pain of others are awful and problematic, but especially moms, because what they need is actual support, not this kind of crap...

I am pretty sure that without my medication and therapy I wouldn’t be here today. She makes me so mad. There is no magical pill that makes you happy, we all know that. But there is proven medication out there that can help you and lead you on the right pass. Just like you said, some people need this medication just to be able to function. What I am also concerned about is that if someone was to take this powder and also use antidepressants at the same time they would interfere or the possibility to get serotonin syndrome. Like, it’s a known fact that you shouldn’t eat grapefruit at the same time that you are taking antidepressants. I know it is pretty common to ask your doctor for those answers In the U.S but where I live we don’t do that. It’s pretty much up to yourself to google and find information on your own.

A lot of them act like it's for the kids and their being disingenuous. So at least she's being honest. Showing her ugly yes but at least she isn't masking it.
