Yep! Had that happen to my dog several years back. We had a tarp covering her old kennel on our patio that one of the stray cats ended up having it's litter in. My dad went outside to clean, next thing he knew the cat jumped on our dog and was clawing her face with it's hind legs. Thankfully the the cut on her eye was only superficial, definitely could have ended a lot worse. Never seen an animal go flying as far as that cat did 😂

My staffy loves cats. A similar incident happened with him. The nabours cat was sitting on the fence and was glaring at him, while my staff was looking at it really innocently and sweetly and was wagging his tail, and was coming nose to nose with it. The cat decided it didn't want to be friends and swiped at him. I was pretty worried that he might of blinded him.

Why would you be so negligent like that? I’ve grown up with both cats and bully breeds and letting the two kinds of animals interact like that is asking for one of them to get mauled. Staffies/amstaffs/am bullies rarely give warning before attacking other animals and cats are often highly defensive. With cats it’s always easy to see when they’re about to attack, and if you can’t read that then you shouldn’t handle animals period. With staffies/bullies you can’t just assume that wagging means they won’t rock the other animal. They’re highly prey/fight driven and take pleasure in the hunt/the fight/the kill.

I have an amstaff. He loves people, not bothered by screaming kids and stuff but totally hates cats. Luckily all cats totally understand he means business and immediately run away as fast as they can the second he spots them. He gets stiff, stares them down with a very weird facial expression, I can literally see his anger and then and rushs towards them like a tank. The neighbor cats finally understood to totally avoid our garden. His siblings who grew up with cats have no issue with cats at all.

I have this type of dog. Due to her intent on chasing kitties I'd never let her approach like this. If she decided to play in an instant, and too hard, it'd be over for the cat and the dog could have a nasty injury too. I've had cats l my life and the amount of times peple let their dogs into my front yard to get up close to my cats is crazy.

You enjoyed letting your dog cause fear in another animal, you let it approach that animal knowing it was causing that animal stress and fear. I would never let my dog get that close to a cat, not because I think he would attack it though unlike pit owners I accept that is always a possibility but simply because I don't feel the need to cause other creatures unnecessary fear and distress. My AmStaff is the best trained dog in the neighborhood because I respect other people. My neighborhood is full of little dogs who are constantly fighting each other because they never get corrected. Recently I found a pair of fledgling birds in a raised flower bed, I went to get something to put them in, got back in time to see a man allow his Westie to jump in and kill one of the birds, something my AmStaff would never do. Psychopaths are attracted to bully breeds because of their physical attributes of strength and agility, not because of their temperament. You notice in this video the dog doesn’t attack the cat. It’s not out of fear, it’s because attacking small animals isn’t it’s temperament.
