Did anyone notice that at 12:40 before the cancelled closure the alarm went off before the Amber light went on.

The gates are under manual control. That early opening is finger trouble by the operator. If you look at 4:50 you can see the guy on the platform operating them from the control panel.

Yes, this crossing is a TMOB, and the train crew operates it . Since there's no local control, they have to use the driver pedestals

Doesn't this crossing have a local control panel? I'd have thought it would be manually controlled when within a possession.
@taylord9587 Жыл бұрын
it is manually controlled but I’m assuming the track circuit is the thing that reopens the crossing after the train passes through the crossing
@BRLCATUK Жыл бұрын
@@taylord9587it hasn’t got a local control panel so they have to use the driver pedestals and the crossing thinks that the trains passed

as somebody not familiar with the ins-and-outs of railway crossings, what differentiates a standard closure from an emergency sequence? is it just the timespan before closing?
@TotherKoala9 ай бұрын
Also the yellow light is skipped so it goes Activate -> red lights and close Instead of Activate -> warning light -> red light and close

The crossing is not malfunctioning it is a TOMB crossing (trainman operated crossing with barriers) it is operated by the guard using a control box on the side of the tracks and is why trains always come to a full stop before crossing(on tomb crossings). the crossing uses lidar to detect the train has passed (the lidar sensor is located on the signpost entering/exiting the station) which is why the barriers open once one of the maintenance vehicles had passed the sensor with one still on the crossing.

It wasn't a track circuit malfunction it was the EO on the platform who was at fault,there operating on local control for the work.
