i could be wrong, but it looks like if that actually was the end, there could possibly have been ground right beneath the pit and screen scroll hides it. the “flag” doesn’t seem to be full height meaning the actual ground would be below the screen

it's not they're difficult, it's just that because they kill you in multiple different ways, you have to replay from the beginning or from cp1 or cp2 over and over again, and they just suck your time that way and i'm not trash talking the genre, they're just relaxing in that way because of their nature
