Initially i didn't think Gem & Joel would last but now i don't think Impulse and Pearl will stay with this group the whole time and they end up splitting off.

I think Scott is just one of the few members of the series who remembers how poison works in Minecraft. It can't kill you on it's own, so as long as you are otherwise safe, it's not actually that dangerous. His hunger bar was pretty full, and it was daytime, so there just wasn't a reason to panic.

If you want to improve your defences, I suggest adding a layer of planks from one of the nether woods behind the stone, so they have to change tools, and possibly deepslate. Or crafting tables, they are among the blocks that take the longest to break among the wooden ones. Wool is also a good option, since most people don't have shears with them.
