You nailed it brother, great info! These vids only keep getting better and better! I’ll be Flying to Costa next week, and will be visiting some of the central western breaks you mention. Can’t wait, cheers mate🍻 🤙🏼

If you ever get a chance, there is a wave south of Samara called Camaronal. Good waves but damn is the place spooky. The mountains, clouds, jungle, murky water, estuary at the north end, turtle sanctuary. I've never been more alive & frightened at the same time. 🤣

Dan, Veterano here here. You underestimate your backhand. You gotta try one of my small wave “Cluster Quads”. I reckon it will bring you to another level of confidence. You should have more followers by now I reckon. Great material. Cheers.😊

Legendary waterman Robby Naish , showed how to surf Pavones on his SUP,projecting way down the line, with speed!

Do your research on SUP in Pavones, its a good way to get your feet machetied off. Dont dare try to SUP in Pavones even locals have a hard time.

Dan nice video but you’ve skipped A LOT of really Awesome breaks… best spot to surf by far for all levels is Nosara. Getting quite crowded and it’s very expensive due to gringos completely taking over unfortunately but still the #1 spot. If you ever come back this way I’ll be happy to take you out to some less known spots which are also awesome. Pura vida and keep up the good work 🤙

Which destination would you prefer? CR or El Salvador? I heard a lot of good things about the pointbreaks of El Salvador
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
I prefer El Salvador personally. I think the waves are generally higher quality and more consistent :)
@roninplaya15 ай бұрын
The Guanacaste region deserves a video of its own. Waves not too far from Tamarindo proper are Playa Grande, Tamarindo Rivermouth, Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra. As you alluded to, you can also do boat trips to Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point.

Tama usually sucks, lots of runoff from the town during the reiney season. crouds are mostly beginners wit hsome accomplished riders. It's usually waist to head high. Olny workson the incoming tide.

Dan , what creates swell on the Caribbean Side?
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
Puerto Viejo!!
@kevinvictor9115 ай бұрын
December to April gets peak swell there. NE/E swell. I was there from July to October and it got some swell, just not as consistent as those months. There is a Salsa Brava which is advanced slab, only broke twice when i was there, fairly consistent beach break(Cocles) and some secret reef breaks that get good. Different vibe and less crowded than the pacific side.
@michaelkenopke5 ай бұрын
In the winter swell season the trade winds blow a consistent 20 - 25 kts across a 1500 nm fetch of open ocean from the Lesser Antilles to Central America. This creates the swell. Panama and Costa Rica, being in the doldrums do not receive these trade winds and thus the normal offshore morning glass.
@exxotixjeff28225 ай бұрын
No wonder you had trouble making Pavones waves, if all you want to do is practice your backhand reo .Some waves are for practicing (local beac break) ,but world class waves like Pavones need more respect and down the line drive and flow.
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
Hahah, yeah that's not really what I do... It did get better at the end, slowed up loads and was able to do more turns :)
@exxotixjeff28225 ай бұрын
Don’t bother going to Skeleton Bay or Desert Point then, way too fast, you’ll have trouble doing any turns there.
