I know exactly what you’re talking about, takes forever to walk out and later the same area has loads of surf school surfing above that shallow reef, can’t believe they don’t have serious accidents there all the time.

Reef in canary islands is like am angry tiger... but what wonderful waves they have!!!!

I think the times of worrying if you look like a kook or not with regards to boots are over seeing as 90% of the people in the water nowadays are on completely unsuitable boards and are unable to do a basic cutback...all this as they repeatedly drop in on someone. I was out of the water for six weeks after ripping my feet to shreds on a reef years ago so now I don't hesitate to wear them. Function over image anyway of the week...plus the moment you do a real turn, people see you're no kook.

Hey Taylor! Yes I agree! Maybe I'm just too self conscious hahah... and might change my tune after cutting my feet a few more times hahah! Hope ya feet have healed though haha...

aaaaaah that shitty reef 😂 Was there in january and it feels like an eternity to get out there... I was so pissed when I finally made it. Paddled inside the bay when I went out cause I didn't want to hurt my feet even more (or damage my board as you did 😅). Did you check out the northcoast spots as well? (derecha de los alemanes, majanicho?) Thx for the entertaining content. Going to my beloved Algarve in September, might do the drive up to ericeira - thanks to your spot guide I'm prepared!

Yeah it's just such an unecessarily sharp reef for the waves you get!! But yes, spent a bit of time in Fuerte, so surfed most of those North Coast spots as well :))

you get used to walking on those lava reefs. I spent years in Lanzarote surfing and at some point it doesn't hurt anymore.

Shish kebabs @ Cloudbreak is quite darn sharp. Thanks for a really entertaining channel!

Thanks mate! And yeah, that part of Cloudbreak is well gnarly! Worse than this reef actually... Saw a guy snap his tibia out there last year from landing on it and another guy scrape his back!!

@@DanHarmon123On one of the bigger days I walked away with only minor cuts but saw a guy from the states that needed to be airlifted. Such an amazing wave though =) Keep up the great work!

I broke a sail there once. Had to collect board and sail after swimming a big round. Barefoot of course. Terrible, init? 🙂 That's my home town

cut the ankle strap off an old leash, when walking out put that strap around the ball of your foot, put the strap from your board leash around your other foot..
@DanHarmon123 Жыл бұрын
Haha never thought about doing that? Have you done it and does it work??
@tummygoat33 Жыл бұрын
@@DanHarmon123 ye I do it when it's sharp, the wider leash straps work best, I don't like boots, find it hard to move my feet around..

There are some for sure. Usually tucked away in the cracks and crevices in the reef though, so walking on the top is usually ok!!
