Srixon ZX5 mkii irons have worked for me and I am a 20, I find them easy to hit, great turf interaction and the best feeling irons I have ever hit.

Awesome clubs - I have them also and absolutely love them. I got them about a month ago as my handicap has moved down to 16 with a view to them hopefully getting me down into single figures. I also use the ZX 5 Mk II driver. They don’t get the love that the other brands do from the KZbinrs as they don’t pump big money into marketing or dish out all the freebies to influencers that other brands do.

I play the zx7mkii in pw - 7i and the zx5mkii in 4,5 and 6. I play off 10. The most important thing is finding some clubs that give you confidence. Getting fit was absolutely the best decision I've made.

I respect your opinion, and it works in a general manner. What it doesn’t account for is age and medical condition, so distance v ability. I was a plus handicap golfer, now low single figures, but age 68 and having had health issues, my distance disappeared. So lots of stretching, golf relevant fitness workouts and a distance iron gives me a chance of competing. Most distance irons just don’t do it, the i found P770 and P790, i blended a set of irons, down to 5 iron, then 18deg hybrid, 7 and 3 woods and of course driver, i got the right gapping and still hit 8 iron 155, 7 168. So still play in scratch club comps, and hold my own against the young guns.

Interesting video Dan and your right about taking into account strengths and weaknesses of ones game. My handicap is 9 and I've been using the Eleven clubs down to a 6 iron then a hollow bodied PXG iron down to my PW. This combo has worked wonders for my game dropping 5 strokes this year. So the Elevens not just for the 28 handicaper!!

T100s as a 14 hcp. Slowly going down. Coming from more game improvement. For lots of golfers, seeing that smaller head and thinner top line makes us work harder. Never hit more approach shots or par 3s ever. All about dispersion. Distance comes second.

Cracking review Dan. Interesting i play regularly with a very accomplished low teens golfer (former single figures). Drives the ball 200+ but as a snr can no longer get down and theough with his irons. He games the Eleven hybrids. It is so about matching the equipment you use to how each element of you game plays. It is a bit freeky seeing a hybrid hit from 60 yards though 😂

As golfer generally shooting 85 to 95 I have a proper mixed bag. Ts1 5 hybrid, g410 6 hybrid, eleven 8 hybrid, launchpad 2 9iron and wedge, smart sole gw and a Cleveland blade type sw. I can't see me ever playing a full set of irons ever again.

The takomo irons are about £73 per iron, with the standard shafts. Such a great deal...but no custom fitting and they don't offer single clubs for purchase. I've had my finger hoovering over the 'Buy now' button a few times and balked.
@RC-911 күн бұрын
the greatest iron ever made for decent ball strikers (0-15 hcap) is undoubtedly the taylormade p760... these irons are absolutely perfect... look great.. perfect size.. forgiving but workable.. plenty powerful... feel amazing... short mid and long irons all perform fantastically.. long irons very easy to hit.. Rory actually has a p760 4 iron currently in his bag.. they are so good I can only believe TM didn't carry them on after the first edition because - they are so good!! either they felt they couldn't make them any better, or, more likely, they thought if too many players get their hands on these perfect irons they won't be coming back year after year to buy our worse 790, 770 products... if you can grab a set on ebay with your chosen shaft and you want to improve your iron play, I strongly recommend it worth the risk of around £300...

I enjoyed the video and that you round up at the end stating the limitations of this type of category by handicap testing. I guess you’ve thought about it but I’d be interested if you did something similar in future you could ask one of your followers on a mid teens average swing speed to give a second opinion compared to yours as a very skilled player.

Takamo has been receiving many excellent reviews and I appreciate your making them your choice for the scratch golfer. However, I think that someone whose game is that good will want to be fitted, and to get that they will have to go with a brand that offers that in-store.

Fair comment 👍 in some situations, many players know their spec and stick with it, but you are right it’s an offering that many brands can beat Takomo on 👍

Been in T100 for nearly 5 years but handicap going in wrong direction. Considering moving to T200 (do currently use a 2019 T200 six iron) only concern is the offset which I find troublesome to look at. Any other alternatives of similar range but have little or no offset?

I have narrowed it down to three sets of irons I just sold my Stealth irons i am 59 and a 8 handicap father time is creeping up quickly so i wanna make golf as easy as possible the 3 sets i am trying to decide on are the ELEVENS or the PXG BLACK OPS or TAKOMO 101's Dan what are your thoughts and advice thx cheers from Canada

Possibly Eleven as they will be quite different to what you already have. The other two options are quite close to the Stealth irons. Keep me posted what you decide on

All about opinion. I don't like tp5 ball because it feels clicky but it doesn't effect performance. Fitting for some at scratch level may be needed once as they know what they need. The forged irons can be fit after purchase as they can be bent if needed! Still saving money. As said just Dan's thoughts as a pro!

what club suits u isn't handicap based! Whatever works for your swing speed, ,miss, ground contact, etc. etc. I hit my 7 iron 160. The worst advice u gave was 8-15 handicap playing t200. How the hell would they work. I tried them and the tungsten weight, hollow construction made the ball fly to the moon with no spin. I followed shitty advice like this and bought ping irons which I for 6 months hit to the moon with no spin. Had to change to t150 half a season in. my 5 iron with ping was like 20 degrees. my new 4 utility iron is 23... The gapping with wedges won't work great either, and that is true on t150 too. if u play much, practice and want to strike balls better, just buy better players clubs from the beginning. u will also learn when u get feedback on mishits, u willl not get flyers and mishits will be straighter but shorter, the ball just falls a little.Good shots will feel soft and rewarding in comparison.
@timackland541110 күн бұрын
It's a guide and opinion. Not shitty advice. Try before you buy! Unless you know your specs and game very well. If you watched to the end Dan clearly makes that point that match clubs to each part of your game. Also look at the previous vids where he does top 5 for each category. It's called research. Did you do any when you made those previous choices? Or did you go with a sales pitch. There is a huge difference.
@TheVikingquest10 күн бұрын
@@timackland5411 research. omg. its just a sponsored opinion/and or an attempt to get views on a video. No one club fits everyone, and certainly never ever based on handicap! Just try different heads u like the look of and let the numbers speak for themselves.There isn't one club manufacturer making 1 club that is better than all the rest.Ever. All clubs today are high quality with just different aesthetics. they all work the same way, it's just a clump of steel with or without weighting. Forged or not. They are also so pricey now that no-one could compete if there were huge differences.
