Dani, I am so glad you did a reaction to the this song. "I Want You, I need You, I Love You" is one of my top all-time favorite Elvis songs and I have requested you do a reaction to it for awhile. Thank you. I knew you would love it. It went to number one on the pop charts in 1956 and sometimes I feel this song doesn't get the credit it deserves for being one of Elvis' all-time classics. 1956 was truly the year of Elvis. It was the year that Elvis burst onto the music scene and became a worldwide phenomenon. Other than Frank Sinatra in the 1940s and The Beatles in the 1960s, the world has not had a super idol talent, embraced by the masses, whose music and style were so groundbreaking and revolutionary that it changed the course of popular music and influenced everyone who came afterwards like Elvis did in the 1950s.

Bless Milton Berle for being one of the first who accepted Elvis while everyone else refused to show him on TV. That all changed when the ratings went sky high on uncle Miltie. Then everyone else wanted in on the action. Centuries from now, Elvis will still be an icon to remember.

I'm telling u, I don't know if the world will ever witness a greater talent. He had ALL those great hits. He could sing the back of a milk carton and make it popular. The world had NEVER witness a phemonon quite like ELVIS. This like alot of others just touches u!!! Where it counts. This was a HUGE hit. He had ALL the great lyrics, the fun songs, the message songs. You can't get any better than-- I Want You, I Need You, I Love You, Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, Teddy Bear, Hound Dog, All Shook Up, Suspicious Minds, Treat Me Nice, How Great Thou Art, Help Me, Peace in the Valley, Way Down, Moody Blue, Polk SALAD Annie, Too Much, Stuck on You, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Love Me, Good Luck Charm, Blue Suede Shoes, Walk a Mile In My Shoes, Blue Christmas, Can't Help Falling In Love With You, Love Me Tender, In the Ghetto, If I Can Dream , Just Pretend, You Gave Me A Mountain, Hurt, Burning Love, Fever, Welcome To My World, Kentucky Rain, Always On My Mind, Separate Ways, Don't Be Cruel, It's Now or Never and Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away. A little history from this 77 yr old female. I was 11 when I listened to top 40 countdown, 1 FRi. afternoon in late Jan. 1956 and heard Heartbreak Hotel. So many call in request had the DJ. repeating the song. It was just a unique new sound I loved, and I bought the .89 cent 45, followed a few months later by purchasing I Want You, I Need you I Love You. That winter Elvis appeared on 6 Dorsey Bros, TV shows, which was produced by Jackie Gleason. The Dorsey Bros was, not a very popular show, so I didn’t know about it. By June, more people tuned into Milton Berle to watch Elvis. His performance of Hound Dog, was considered vulgar and most adults and critics were negative. However he was so popular, that Ed Sullivan paid an unheard of price to book Elvis for several shows, starting in Sept. By then every teen in America tuned in. I recall my parents watching with me, and my dad laughing. There was never such a swift rise to fame, before Elvis. My friend and I waited in line to see Love Me Tender that Fall. My 7th grade teacher, a nun, used to bring a record player to class, so we could listen to some classical music, as opposed to listening to Elvis. Elvis didn’t go away, and eventually even adults and other singers and celebs, acknowledged his great voice. What is amazing is how he could dance with no lessons. Jailhouse Rock, Bosa Nova and other songs from movies and live performances demonstrated all his talents.

I remember seeing this live on the TV back when I was 6 years old, my older sister was crazy about Elvis and she made sure I saw every thing he did on television back in the day! I think I saw just about every time he was on TV, there was only three tv networks/stations back then, it was really easy to keep up plus every time Elvis was on TV, TV Guide make a really big event of it, plus it was in all the newspapers, before and after. Thanks for keeping his music alive and relevant. Oh, one of the advantages of being an old guy is I got to see Elvis live four times starting in 1971, the very best memories for sure!

Pure raw talent and musicianship. Just think of it, three guys on instruments, and lead singer with his 4 vocal accompanying him. That's it. No special effects, no harmonizer and/or tricks up their sleeves. How many of the so called musicians and/or singers could do simply what we are seeing here in this video? Show's that they were real and superb musicians.

Terrific Elvis song and commentary Dani. I could see by your expression That you so wished you could be one of those lucky girls! Elvis came to my hometown of Portland Oregon in 1957 for an outdoor concert in the old Multnomah Stadium before 14,000+ fans. A local newspaper journalist wrote about the event glowingly and said that when Elvis was done with his set and it was announced that “Elvis has left the building,” adoring female fans ran down onto the field and began pawing at the ground he walked on to take home as a souvenir!

Dani, Milton Berle lived until 2002. He was 94 when he died. Every interview he did until he passed he always said how much he loved Elvis and just knew the very first second he saw him that the world, pop culture, and music was never going to be the same. Many people at the time (1954-56) were skeptical or plain out offended by Elvis because not even Frank Sinatra had made such an impact on pop culture, and rock n roll till that point was largely underground and considered devils music across America. Elvis blew the doors down on so many facets of our culture we do not even realize it today. America was a different country when he came out. He changed America. It went from black and white to color.

Takes me back to 1956 when "Heartbreak Hotel" followed by "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" had "every 14 year old girl in the country in love with Elvis Presley," as I remember reading - and agreeing with, as a 14-year-old girl myself. The world was changing! We had never heard anything like his music. And nobody vaguely imagined that he would be remembered 65 years later. Instead, I read predictions that he'd be forgotten in 6 months.

(I initially posted this story on the wrong song reaction video--Love Me) The recording session for this song was done on a tight schedule, just after Elvis had flown in on a private twin-engine plane where the engines cut off temporarily, and there was turbulence among other problems. Perhaps because Elvis was still shaken, none of the individual takes was perfect enough to be used, but the producer spliced together, with Scotch tape, segments from two different takes so seamlessly you can't tell, and supposedly he never told Elvis. www.elvis-history-blog.com/i-want-you.html

Wikipedia: Ray Walker - bass vocals [with Jordanaires] (1958-2013) Ray Walker (born March 16, 1934) is a member of the singing group The Jordanaires. Walker has been the bass singer for the group since 1958.[1] During his tenure with The Jordanaires, the group was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International) Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Walker was also awarded the "Avalon Award," the highest award given for contribution and accomplishment by his alma mater, David Lipscomb University, in 2005. Walker has been recorded nearly every week since he was 13 years old. He began singing in public at 6 years old. In the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, he was sometimes recorded on 200 songs a week, as aids in church worship in spirit and truth series. Up to 2006, it is estimated that Walker has been recorded on more than 200,000 songs (including repeats for different services and classes), outside of his professional recording with the Jordanaires, and it is possible that he is the most recorded voice in the history of music over his 66 years of performing and teaching. The Jordanaires also backed up Elvis Presley for 15 years beginning in 1956 until he started doing two shows a night in Las Vagas.
