Isn't this exactly how the justice system is supposed to work though? It sucks that it took that much time, effort, and money (so that's definitely a place for improvement) but in the end justice prevailed and the true offender was charged despite their attempts to implicate an innocent person.
@genozp23282 жыл бұрын
@@tinkmaster1054, people only here and read what they want to. People want to believe that they can blame all of their problems on police, despite the fact that police are statistically doing an excellent job well beyond any comparable measure of a typical workplace, so they ignore the evidence and will believe it anyway based on a small minority of examples. Not to mention that they will often use stories that are personal and emotional based rather than factual evidence, often discarding visual facts seen on cameras. I am not saying that police are perfect, there is always room for improvement, but people want the drama of blaming problems on people who have theoretical control over them rather than to understand nuance. The reason our justice system takes so long is not because we want to drag everything on as long as possible, the main two reasons it takes so long is because: 1) The existence of Freedom also means that you will have a lot of individuals who take it too far and therefore we have a fair amount of crime. And 2) the United States more than any other country goes to Great lengths to do everything in its power to make sure the correct person is the one put behind bars, often being cited that we would rather a guilty perpetrator set free then an innocent citizen jailed wrongly. I wish it didn't cost so much, but a lot of the times you can add on many different fees and ask for money from the opposition after winning a case. Plus, even from the beginning he claims that he was from California and was in another state giving evidence in the form of a shotgun, while having unfinished altercations still in California. I am not saying that's a good reason to hold someone in for 22 days, but that isn't really a good idea for an ideal scenario. And the moral of the story he gave at the end is absolute nonsense. Understand your rights and the laws of the states that apply to you, but always do the right thing and comply with the police while doing so, because you can sue or counter sue if you have been wronged later; choosing to hide or avoid giving evidence that you found is almost just as bad as committing the crime yourself. Regardless, my apologies, I got a little off the rails there. The point is, I certainly believe that there are things that we can improve on, but the statistics say that by and large police are doing a pretty good job and that despite it being very stressful to go through cases that take such a long time despite sometimes being obvious the outcome, they typically do turn out in the morally and lawfully correct judgment. As far as I can tell, people just want something to blame and will ignore particular details in order to blame it on the government, majority, and law enforcement.

It's literally kidnapping when you did nothing wrong. It's very traumatizing in itself. Getting locked up and placed in aweful conditions, even for a day, does damage to the psyche. Ptsd. Now being confined for nearly a month for doing nothing wrong would be torture. Makes me wonder how caged animals feel.

I thought that there was some kind of thing about this, in fact I'm pretty sure they call it pleading the Fifth. Think about the facts. Either the police charged him with assault based on his own story of trying to catch the kidnapper, or he was accused by eyewitnesses, or the kidnapper was caught and accused him. The kidnapper is "on the run" so we can assume unless a kidnapper was released on recognizance, they did not give a statement, nulling option 3. It seems unlikely that an eyewitness to a kidnapping would accuse someone trying to stop it of assault, I think in many cases they might even assist, so option 2 appears very improbable, leaving only option 1, from which the accused is protected by the amendment. So . . .

This is the "new normal" in way too many parts of this country. Rather than dealing with actual criminals who are intent on causing harm, places like this have decided to turn the police into a gestapo to instill fear and compliance into law-abiding citizens. It is way easier for cops to arrest decent people for things like this, or not wearing a mask, than to stop a mob from robbing and looting. And don't DARE try and do anything to help anyone that they consider under the "State's" purview; they'll treat you worse than a murderer 😡. Just ask the guy in Washington who used his own money to repair a handicap ramp at his local park: it had been messed up for years and the city did nothing, so the man bought a bag of cement and repaired it. The NEXT DAY police were banging on his door, demanding to know where he got the authority to fix it! When he said, "No one", they arrested him for VANDALISM 🤦♀️. He was given a thousand-some dollar fine! They haven't gotten to the level of Canada or Australia, yet, but they are doing everything they can to get there 🤬

Just a bit of info. In most jurisdictions, the police are required by law to arrest on warrant without exception. Doesn't matter if it's for unpaid parking tickets or homicide. So if state "A" issues a warrant and you are stopped in state "B" the officers must take you into custody. The arresting authority (B) then contacts the issuing authority (A) and asks if they want you held for extradition or released. So if they demand you are to be held, unless a judge rules otherwise, you get stuck. Sorry you had to experience this, but it is legal. And also, appreciate you not blaming the cops because their hands were tied in this situation.

As most cop’s computer systems maybe way behind in updating warrant information and that way if you’re ever pulled over, or questioned, you can show the paperwork that your charge was dismissed even if it’s not yet updated as a dismissal in the different police departments’ computer systems yet. We hope that you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎊🎆. And a big thanks to your gf, Jeff, Gavin, and Britain for being there for you!! True friends are life’s best treasures.

@@michiganjems like I said apathy is how evil people remain and gain power. They always have a choice and choosing apathy and making excuse doesn't make you a good person. It makes you a bad one. Just doing my job, is the laziest excuse to justify one's behavior.

Dani you are so amazing. You handled this like a real MAN! So sorry, it hurts to see you, getting cuffed. And,, I hope those officers felt bad as they were doing. Were they the same officers who were so nice earlier? So sorry you had to deal with this. Will you ever be reimbursed from the court, when they finally catch this guy? I seen many times, the judge rule payment --- if not, ask - or at least ask your lawyer, can you write off on your taxes?

@@KaeMarie45 Which is ridiculous. I understand the reason is so the person in question doesn't go into hiding. But its not fair for the people that are willing to turn themselves in to fight the charges. Ridiculous.

Britton you're such a great friend and guy. You rock. Dani we are taught by our parent's and older family to react if you see something that you see that's isn't right. Unfortunately nowadays the innocent get thrown under the bus. So glad you got it dismissed.
