I'm 59 now and I grew up listening to Barenboim playing Mozart piano concertos and conducting various Mozart symphonies, both of which shall never be bettered. This concert displays his ultimate genius which is unparalleled as both conductor and pianist. There are many, many greats in the world of classical music, however, to me Daniel generally is the greatest of these 2 mediums that I have ever witnessed, his prowess is unequalled, not in everything he does, but on the whole. The man is the consumate genius of this genre and here he presents an extremely gifted orchestra of young players. This is such a joy from the meastro, God I love him!.

I notice that the performers seemed to have shed kilos of bodily fat (especially the maestro himself and his son the concertmaster, Michael ) after sweltering in the summer heat, throughout the duration of the concert. The piece de resistance was certainly Tchaikovsky’s eternal work, the 5th Symphony! It’s time Daniel Barenboim be awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, having devoted a major part of his life to fostering the cause of peace & goodwill in the Middle East via the medium of music - truly an international language! You are an amazing man, maestro! May God bless you & this wonderful orchestra of beautiful young & talented people. Please come to Malaysia and play in our Dewan Fil!

This a great performance by Daniel and the Divan. I appreciate the video and audio too for sharing with the world such a fine rendering of the composers. The art of music has always given us the opportunity to set aside differences in the interest of performing and appreciating such talent - composers, performers, and appreciators. The composers are western and Russian but these are appreciated and performed all over the world. Some of the best renderings come from Asia. No other endeavor has achieved bringing together humanity from the farthest reaches of the world. Even religion. Sadness that other affairs of humanity cannot achieve similar brotherhood.

A wonderful performance of this magnificent Tchaikovsky symphony with an exhilarating finale, which along with his 6 and 4 make up the top greatest symphonies, IMO! I have enjoyed Barenboim's CD recording of the 5th with Chicago Sym. Orchestra for decades and he does not seem to have slowed down here despite older age and poor health conditions. His humanitarian efforts in reconciling the opposing sides of the people of Holy Land through music is commendable. A great conductor, pianist and humanitarian is what defines Barenboim. Tchaikovsky's symphonies are an excellent match to Barenboim's personality, as they are reflection of extreme human emotions in beautiful melodies and outstanding orchestration. Particularly, the players can be heard individually or in groups as opposed to mushy orchestration of some other composers.

This is the best conductor, in this video, who I ever have seen. Hurray, it is a dynamic volume and tempo by the pianist in the starting part. First time now I can see in KZbin, this music can be downloaded for about 1700 Ft, can be pay with bank card. It is so good price and facility, I think. The Beethoven 3rd Piano concerto cadenza was so intense, notice how the orchestral musicians were all watching Daniel Barenboim so intently at that point. This was a superb concert, the orchestra is so impressive given how young they all are. Daniel Barenboim has dedicated his life to great classical music, music education and humanitarian issues, a career that spans 73 years ! Remarkable. Hoping he is with us for many more years. He does some great short music education clips on his Facebook page and can switch effortlessly between the six languages he speaks.
