I really like how Betty and Daniel fall in love with each other. I would not change that, but they should have follow more the original plot, at least, to make them stay together. In reality, it would be fucking dope if they followed all the plot of _I'm Betty, the Ugly One_ 1999. I keep imagining it.

I am binge watching it too, for the 7th time!! And while watching it during quarantine, I realized it has been 10 years since the finale aired( 14th April). I was 18 when i saw the last episode and cried. Why cant they do a reboot??? Many other boring and less popular shows get rebooted, why cant ugly betty a finale that will do it justice?

Yes. It was like the beginning of something that could have been so beautiful. I get that they laid the basis of friendship first. It made sense. The fact that they met and loved other people but yet 'finding' each other in the end. That would have worked too. Getting there took too long though. Nonetheless, loved the fact that it was Daniel who realised it first. Fans are trying their hardest to get a movie out. Not sure how that will pan out. At least we can get a sense of completion.

I know the Ugly Betty version is different, they didn't want just to copy all the details of the original version, but I think that is one of the reasons why the show didn't continue. If they tried to follow at least the main plot of 'Betty the Ugly one' 1999... They would succeed till series 10.

Oh how I miss them, I wish it was still going or atleast gave us them as a couple. Loved how he acted when she was planning on leaving he was so devastated inside you just knew & then him himself realizing why cuz he fell in love with her without realizing in. Who was she the one that told him her loved Betty? His mom? Can't remember. If it was I just love how she knew right away.

Detty fans finally got a little something (not nearly enough) of the possibility of them getting together but I shall not quibble. You should be able to watch the episodes here on KZbin somewhere.

its a real shame we never got to see the real show , for four years we saw something else, when all versions of ugly betty are about betty and her boss falling for each other but the road is bumpy and full of comedy/embarassing moments!, they should have at least fight harder for a fifth shorter 13 episodes season! where we would see betty and daniel get together!

Irene Diaz Just finished rewatching Ugly Betty to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the final. It free on the ABC streaming app. I think it should have been called Awkward Betty. She was never ugly just Awkward until she learned to stand up, believe, and stay true to herself.

@ladyevenstar22 I feel you. I waited, even through all the exasperation I felt, the other relationships that got in the way and the "they're more like brother and sister" comment. Felt I was grappling at straws. They should have just stuck to the same formula. It works. I watched 5 other versions. The differentiating factors were the settings, the different culture but it turned out fine each time. That said, I still enjoyed Ugly Betty for the characters that kept pulling me in week after week.

How strict was the American version of the show to the Betty La Fea? Did they have anything in common?

I watched Betty La Fea and 3 other versions made in different countries. Variations in setting, culture and plot somewhat. Similarly, the US version didn't follow the storyline of the Colombian original. But what I liked about Ugly Betty is that Daniel realised his love for her first. In all other versions, Betty was the one who fell hard first. It still rankles that we didn't get to see how the relationship developed.

In the Dutch version, Lotte (is what she is called) falls for Vico (daniel), but he falls even harder for her. To the point where he can't get her out of his mind even when she does not want to be with him. What I did not like was that he was engaged and they were having an affair. This american version at least gave us a friendship and when they could be together they were single. Still wanted to see a romance though. Watching it again on star (disneyplus)😄
