25 year old viewer here who just finished the series last night for the first time in its entirety!! I remember watching this show Thursday nights with my mom. It would be Ugly Betty, Greys, and then Desperate Housewives. I was always sent to bed before Housewives of course, but Thursday nights were some of the best memories I have with my mom. I started watching the show after Mothers Day this year. I lost my mom three years ago the day before Mother’s Day so it’s always a difficult time of year. This show brought back memories and a new light to my life. How beautiful to see the cast love this show as much as me and my mom do!!! ❤

I love this show for a long time and it made me find a way of life!! America mentioned that this show made a huge impact to all of the world through GMA interviews. Many of you on this comments are probably in the US, but I watched this show in Japan on state-run broadcast (no Netflix and Hulu at that time). Literally, I was out side of the US but Betty encouraged me in many ways and made me laugh, somehow I got through my hard times. Because of that, I started learning English, stayed in New York for a year and shaped my career in fashion industry. So, I’m really appreciate. I’m rewatching it right now and amazed how this show was ahead of time. Thank you for all the cast and crew behind it! Still wanna watch reboot in 2024.

I was very young when Ugly Betty was airing and my parents watched each episode as it came out. One Christmas Eve we were driving home from Christmas service at church and my mom turned in the passenger seat to ask my sister and I “Girls, would you like to watch the Peanuts Christmas Special?!” And she said it so sweetly and with so much charisma. I remember today at age 22 sitting in my car seat and at maybe age 5 saying “What about the new episode of Ugly Betty?” I’ll never forget the look on my mom’s face. I don’t think she had a single clue that I was at all aware of what she and my dad watched on TV at that age but they watched it so much that I remembered the show name and at age 5 knew how to sight read the word “ugly” and the name “Betty” from seeing the opening theme so many times over! (I don’t really think I retained any of the story though and I’ve been technically watching it for the first time with my mom. Back when I was little the only faces from the show I remembered as I grew older were Betty, Daniel, Wilhelmina, and Marc but during my first official watch all the cast’s faces came back to me except for a few. It was like meeting old friends lol!)

The ratings dropped like a rock after Betty cheated on her boyfriend. The show never recovered (if memory serves). It could have been been cancelled after the end of season 3, but they decided to renew it again, but move it to Friday, which the night where all the shows would go and die before a pity renewal. Most would only last one season and then they'd be cancelled.

Same-sex marriage was a detable issue back in mid-2000 and Americans were divided on that matter until California legalized it during mid 2007/08. I just finished this series on hulu and I dont think there is a comedy series like this out there or ever will be. This was an amazing tb show, all the episodes flowed so naturally and it never got stale or any episode felt like a filler. Like Eric (Daniel Meade) said in an interview, if this show had been cancelled in the social media era, this show would still be on tv. imagine all the tweets and posts! There would be no way a show as inspiring and creative as this one would just be buried with no fight! I really think this show could be revived for many reasons, one being everyone still looks the same lol. Where is netflix when you need them??? I dont know how to feel as I wont see these people playing those characters ever again... im so used to seeing this show after work and this show never failed to make me laugh, especially those intros lol and "maaaarc!"

*sigh* there's always ONE person missing from the reunion. None the less everything this cast said about behind the scenes and their chemistry is pretty much exactly as I imagined it and I really do hope we get a 2 hour special- as Ignacio said they REALLY don't make shows like this anymore. For me personally the early 00's was the Golden age of TV now in a world of Game of thrones and House of cards shows like Ugly Betty with MINORITY FEMALE LEADS who aren't perfect or skinny from and have a working class background that just happen to be absolutely hilarious simply cease to exist but I'm so happy I had it in my adolescence I really didn't realise how fortunate I was. What almost makes it more painful is you can see how much they all miss it- the success of any tv series is down to the chemistry of the actors and the crew and this is so clear in the interview that they truly were a family I'm not surprised some of them fell into depression and if were being honest for everyone on that couch Ugly Betty was the highlight of they're careers maybe minus Wilemina but it deffo put her bk on the map- they never found that chemistry again on a set they never struck magic again those 4 years were some of the best working years of they're lives and you can see it so much :'( It will always have a place in my heart viva la Betty I love love love everyone sitting on those sofas thank you for the laughs, the comfort and the memories your are so so missed! xx

I just want to say, that the character of Justin and his gradual coming out was something that really resonated with me. i was 11 when the show first aired and i was just beginning to find my way with my orientation and having such a visible young LGBT character on screen was really comforting and i saw a lot of myself in that character, the drama, the fabulousness but with the hint of reservedness least someone should come to the realisation i was gay (Having them probably already know) And Marc's killer confident was a massive help to me as well so thank you to all involved at Ugly Betty and thank you ATX for bringing back the cast of my favourite show!

I actually love how the show ended. I think it makes their relationship so much deeper that they focussed on other aspects of their relationship together. That Daniel would never be fulfilled if he was still confused. He needs to focus on him & Betty needed to focus on her new life. They weren't at that stage yet. However, I love the idea of a continuation where they meet up again and they're both at the right stage of life. They are who they were meant to be and now they're ready for each other. It could be so beautiful. :)
