I still remember knowing him as "Ashton" in High School, and when I hear that there was a new young Canadian musician was killing it, imagine my surprise seeing "Daniel Caesar"😅. God bless bro, only wishing all the best👍

The way he's handled the cancelation by simply apologizing and moving on is so mature. Hope the rest of the world will grow up and forgive him.

@@kylanyoung703 that’s not why he got cancelled lmao and idk where u heard that. This is quite honestly one of the realest, most authentic interviews I've watched. Tom is incredible at carrying conversation and asking unique, in-depth questions while also never crossing overly personal boundaries, which is the perfect mix of raw emotion and pure respect. Daniel puts meticulous thought into each of his answers, always having a very human exterior. Humility just radiates from him at all angles. I love how he explains that he feels disappointed when fans get hyped up to see him because he feels he is no different from any other person. He breaks down the superficial trap of starstruck ideology so perfectly. Both guys are deep thinkers and know how to present their ideas through careful consideration. Loved it so much.

Omg! When they are talking about his song about being shy he is asked “how’d that go?” and he immediately responds by singing the song, but I think the question was actually meant like “how did the song work out for you with the girl?” … love ya Daniel thank you for existing

I truly relate to using anger and resentment due to trauma to fuel my dreams. It truly is hard to enjoy the success once you get it when it was catapulted by trying to prove others wrong and trying to get them to notice how amazing you are. I think you truly can't enjoy the fruits of your labor until you forgive and forget those people and realize that you never needed their validation to begin with. The only validation you needed was from yourself, but it is always much easier said than done.

I keep finding myself coming back to this interview, just the way he articulates, and thinks before he responds to a question is so interesting to me. I can tell he conceives his responses strategically, most likely out of fear of our sensitive and problematic world 🥺I admire u daniel

I would say, it’s not that we need to get rid of the desiring, it’s that we understand the desiring, embrace it for what it is-it’s the fuel that carries us through our life journey. The more we desire, the more we’ll get to enjoy in life because it will take us to so many places. The trick is, like Daniel just said, is to do what the cliche says, and enjoy the journey. It’s an understanding the unfolding of life is where the fun is, and the best way we can see and recognize the unfolding, is to have something we’re reaching for, something we’re desiring. ❤

Disagree with the take that being compassionate is better. In my life I have been nothing but compassionate and understanding to everyone, and that’s legit gotten me no where. I’ve learned within past couple years that running on hatred and anger is easily the best route and that pain speaks louder than being kind. Idk who I am without hatred, especially hatred for myself.

The interviewer is perpetually attempting to insert "his understanding" into Daniel Caesar's consciousness. He is repeatedly saying "I see this" and then looking for Daniel Caesar to confirm his own analysis, instead of allowing the artist to be an adult, and explain himself. There is a paternal air to his style. It's fairly nasty if you notice it.
