I would argue that Timothy Dalton was the first to humanise the character, taking it from the fantastical parody it had become to a grounded, dark and gritty character in his two films. He definitely laid the foundations for what Craig had then done with his performances and took it to another level. But I do think Dalton deserves some credit.

That is so true ! , what the hell is going on ??? , just 2 films released in the last 10 years and that's after endless delays , whose idea was that to kill Bond so they can 'reset' the franchise , fed up waiting for something to happen , still no news about the new Bond actor and we will not see the film for at least another 2 to 3 years !. Seen every film at the cinema for the last half a century and have now sadly lost interest.
@frankb821Ай бұрын
@@aidanwilson6035 Truthfully, it was Craig's idea to kill Bond. He claimed he was "done" after "Spectre," but Barbara wanted him back so badly they had a meeting and he said he'd do one more, only on one condition...if she let him kill Bond. This is how much disdain Craig has for the character. Neither one of them actually cares about the fans, despite their constant proclamations to the contrary, but Craig cares even less then EON does.

@@aidanwilson6035 Exactly. It's so sad that, unfortunately, we'll most likely have to endure a woke DEI Bond pick and go through its utter failure at the box office before they'll decide it's better to make money and go back to basics. But that will take at least 10 more years...
@Kotor5000Ай бұрын
She's no longer interested in Bond. She never believed in the character anyway. After inheriting the franchise in the late 90s, she did 2 half-hearted attempts with Brosnan which were entertaining but didn't meet her postmodernist feminist standards. So she fired Brosnan, brought in Craig to "subvert expectations" using the blond thing, making Bond morose and depressed, with every film being a memory of Vesper (2006-21 long depressive nostalgia) until the day Bond died. This is who Broccoli is. She and Craig make a perfect team, as both hated Bond and wanted to see him suffer for decades and then be killed off, following which fans would be made to suffer for decades. It was a "stick it to the man" conspiracy since 2006.
