Translation - Pirog feints the jab whilst taking a half step back. He steps into southpaw whilst creating a distraction with a feint right double jab, down then up, his right foot is on the outside of Jacob's lead foot at this point. He steps back to orthodox, distracting Jacobs with the deftest hint of a left jab to the body, just probing, followed by a near fully extended jab which he somewhat leaves in, masking Jacob's vision. Jacobs is in knots. Pirog brings a full blooded right hand over the top. Jacobs gets sent to bed.

No doubt he got caught and was getting schooled, however if you look closely at that fight Jacobs went down hard but was conscious on the mat and appeared to have pretty clear eyes. Also the ref did in fact physically stop him from getting up.

Jacobs could have gotten more seriously hurt, which could have ended his boxing career, had he been allowed to continue fighting after suffering such devastating knockdown. The referee did Jacobs a favor, because of which Jacobs got to fight another day.

Jacobs is one my favorite fighters but Pirog was schooling him and boxed him better than either Canelo or GGG. Pirog's movement is a lot better than Canelo's. That said, the scorecards were crazy and the Ref pushdown like that was ridiculous. It should never happen like that in the context of that fight as Jacobs looked like he was good to get back up. Guess the ref tried to cover his error of waving it off. Autograph story makes the ref look flaky and very unethical. Funny thing is I thought Jacobs beat GGG.

Pirog masterfully dismantled Jacobs and laid him flat on the canvas, one of the most crafty slick boxers i've ever seen put on a show in vegas for this one, Jacobs was baffled at what was in front of him, that double switch hit lead straight he dropped Jacobs with was jaw dropping, and they where fixing to rob him had he not done that ...

I like Jacobs but come on man, Pirog was spectacular that night and was dominating. Hard to believe Jacobs was ahead on the cards like he says in this video. He really ought to give Pirog some credit as opposed to the excuses. With that said, however, I do think Byrd should’ve let Jacobs keep going even though another knock down was likely on the horizon.

He's got a great attitude about that stoppage. I wish he wouldn't have closed his eyes to rest, I think that's what the ref saw. That being said, Pirog would have put him out and the score cards were wrong. Pirog was one of the greatest closers I've ever seen. patient, technical, and powerful when needed.

That PIrog vs Jacobs fight is one of my favorite fights to watch. Pirog was on another level. Just listen to the Great Emmanuel Steward's commentary. He certainly acknowledged that Pirog was doing A LOT of great things in there to stifle Jacobs and that Jacobs was not ready for it and was highly uncomfortable. All anyone has to do is watch it for themselves. What a great performance Pirog put on.

No matter the mindset, Jacobs was not ready for Pirog, and I don't think Jacobs, at his best, would've been able to defeat him at that time. Furthermore, I think Pirog's style would have been overwhelming for anybody in the middleweight division at that time including 3G, who, I believe Daniel got robbed by the "judges" in that fight.

I rewatched his fight with Pirog out of nostalgia and remembered it the same. I thought even then the ref called it off way too early. He counted to 5 before waving it off and pushed Jacobs’ chest down after he tried to get up. Hearing Jacobs’ story about the picture is very sketchy. This is boxing so I wouldn’t be surprised if the ref put a nice bet on the fight.

The ref had already called 5, then instead of counting 6 he said "It's over", a split second before Danny suddenly tried to get up. He pushed him down again, and the commentators count 6, 7 It would have been impressive if he beat the count in 4 seconds Though the score cards should have been close. Given this was the 5th round and Danny was already eating some heavy shots. The ref as dodgey as it looked, probably saved him a severe beating
