When rove and the crowd laughed about using pills and alcohol as therapy... no wonder so many of us have addiction issues, thats the reality of Australia back then. They laugh until it's a problem don't they . Then comes the judgement.

Incredibly insightful and empathetic description of depression from Rove here: "So what was it, you were just going around being really moody and brooding all the time and going gruff gruff oh nobody understands me gruff gruff gruff?". Fortunately our understanding of depression has come a long way since then.

Call Daniel John's podcast, there's a part where he's looking at his childhood memories which I know it makes him feel good, with reciting pulp fiction his favorite movie which I love as well, and his teddy bear, when he gets to Natalie's letters, I think it broke his heart for a minute, it wasn't a bad letter it didn't sound like, I think it was more of a complicated letter but she still loves him as a person, you just wanna hug him right there.

3:45 "What about alcohol....have you tried that?" "No. Alcohol exacerbates the problem I think." That little exchange right there....is kinda painful to see. Because it presages what will eventually come. I feel for Dan. He's such a good smart sensitive human being....and I get why he eventually became so addicted to various things, including alcohol. It's because the WORK....for a while. And then they stop working. And then....they exacerbate the problem. 20 years after this interview....sure enough, that's where we're at. I went through it myself, and it's painful to see this...knowing Daniel would go through it soon enough too. I kinda wish he had just stuck to what he was doing around Diorama....someone working on that album's recording once remarked that Dan smoked more weed than Snoop Dogg around that time. But he seemed in a good place. Alcohol....is just so dangerous. I get needing SOMETHING to help with creativity and...life. I just hope he gets well soon, so to speak. I just want him to be happy now.

At 3:33 where he says my hand just shakes and I can’t stop it no matter what I do despite the pills… first of all the fact that everybody laughed at that is fucked up… second, I’m almost 26 and I’ve had that my whole life (anxiety) and legit didn’t know until 5 months ago. Even now with pills, he’s right it doesn’t stop. And the douchy host talking about trying alcohol, that ain’t funny either. I drink a lot and Daniel is right, it just adds to the problem. Just some insight.

seen his latest interview with Carrie B on CH.10 The Project... Dan obviously needs professional help and a lot seems very similar to someone's symptoms of abusing various substances... what does Dan's band name Dissociatives mean?... we'd all like Dan to be happy and well... i've said it before, Dan should grab a few friends and go backpack the world and become a nobody for a while.... but the problem seems Dan doesn't wish to leave certain things alone, or behind him... AND he really dissed the fk out of Ben and Chris too.... he's not the Dan we used to know and love, he's in trouble within himself.... let's hope he finds rest in his mind.... he admitted he went to rehab, not for alcohol, for voices in his head but said nothing of drugs.... i've known people who have taken LSD, DMT, ICE, and other substances and have never been the same again... one person has been lost for near 30yrs now after taking a trip.... i think Dan's close to lost now, even sadder is i think Dan thinks it too.

They experienced such highs early on they often abuse drugs to try and maintain that feeling and become self consumed. Celebrity rehab was a show for a reason. Famous people and child stars often self destruct and it has something to do with the ego and dopamine.
