Proud to be a descendant of one of his riflemen! …..Grandfather Pvt William Moses Ray, Cabell’s 6th VA Regiment. …….Grandfather Colonel John Green was a Colonel in the 6th Va from 1778-1783. Both attached to Daniel Morgan.

A very interesting, indispensible, yet understated figure in the Revolution. A master of guerila warfare tactics. This was a key element against the rigid, perdictable, ''gentlemanly' methods of British ground combat. Maps & locale are a plus.

He was born in the village of new Hampton in Hunterdon County modern day Lebanon township, New Jersey, 5 miles up the road from me. I believe his grandparents were Welsh and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. There is a plaque and a flag where his birthplace was right on the musconetcong River road. He worked in a sawmill across the river in Warren County it was also a wagoneer on the pittstown road route in his mid teens. After an argument with his father he ran away from home at 17 to Carlisle Pennsylvania and then on to Winchester.

I live 5 mi south of Morgan's birthplace here in Hunterdon County . Either his parents or his grandparents were Welsh immigrants that settled in bucks County and made their way to Hunterdon County and owned a small farm and worked at a sawmill across the river in Warren County. Musconetcong river road in the village of New Hampton.

I need to check a book written by my 3x great grandfather to see how many greats it is for me, but there was also a story about the origins of the Morgan family that I thought y’all would want to hear about. The legend claims that the first Morgan is the eldest son of King Arthur and Guinevere
@skinnerbs Жыл бұрын
@@Case2_0 I did see that as well! Very cool. You part of the family?
